Just got off the phone with Mike (Michael) of Manhattan Banner, a fine outfit, and he stated that there'll be no problem with printing and delivering the banner to the Waldorf Astoria where a fellow Bitcoiner (mentioned on the other thread, but withheld hear just in case, not wanting to take anything for granted) will take possession of it.

Simply waiting now for a quote via email (~5 Minutes), of which I'll pay via CC (sorry, but they don't take bitcoins at this time) for the printing and delivery of the following image to be printed on a vinyl banner.

Still waiting.  Cry This is like waiting for a baby to be born (I think), for I got knots in my stomach. The CC is now covered with sweat waiting to be used. And I have to pee. And I think I broke the F5 key on this here laptop. Anybody want to change places with me? Shit! Now I have to take a shit! When will this madness come to an end?

Almost, just a tad slow on their end waiting for an email, probably due to it being Friday and all, for I heard a many machines a runnin' in the background when I spoke with Mike.

Thanks, CC, for taking part in all this, knowing that you'll do your damndest to get the banner televised, or at least in front of a camera hoping that it was televised live. We all look forward to seeing all the pics you take come Monday or so, for Sunday would be to late to get them posted unless you're using a smartphone.

Just an FYI I will be in one of the endzones, pretty dead center behind the goalposts in the first 15 rows, so there is a very good possibility that the banner will be visible during field goals and PATs.

This is why full colour doesn't work (It's not possible to colour the whole bg). Sometimes it's possible to fully colour it, but sadly that doesn't get displayed correctly in Firefox. So I came up with some alternatives:
PRIMEDICE    .
  The Premier Bitcoin Gambling Experience:
Free BTC | Instant | Chat | #1 in Bitcoin Gambling

Here's an idea for the full member sig. Version with one strong color line to grab max. attention. I believe that works very well - I capitalized PRIMEDICE, but didn't make the font bold as it makes the overall design weaker. Not necessary, because it already attracts enough attention:

PRIMEDICE The Premier Bitcoin Gambling Experience @PrimeDice
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

Version with two strong color lines to grab max. attention (I prefer 1 line):

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
PRIMEDICE
The Premier Bitcoin Gambling Experience @PrimeDice
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

You need to decide if you want the top right line CAPITAL or not and if you use a ":" or not:

PRIMEDICE.
  The Premier Bitcoin Gambling Experience:
Free BTC | Instant | Chat | #1 in Bitcoin Gambling

PRIMEDICE.
  THE PREMIER BITCOIN GAMBLING EXPERIENCE:

Well since the Patriots aren't in I think I'm more excited to catch this banner on tv than the game. Awesome work Phinnaeus getting this printed and in the hands of someone going. No doubt it will make it on tv if he's sitting behind the goal posts!

To clarify, the graphic design was not created via Photoshop, and is vectored to scale for printing purposes, thanks to bitcoincito. The Google tiny URL acts as a backup if the QR-Code is unreadable, ergo we won't sweat this aspect, considering there's a myriad of symbolism built into the final design.

If Richard Sherman proves instrumental in the Seattle Seahawks winning the game, it'll make this banner that much more valuable for CC, especially if he could get it signed.

Here's to hoping it's a great game and the commercials don't suck. May the best team win!

Bad news --> to very bad news --> to good news --> TO VERY GOOD NEWS!

Original printer never got back with me and is closed today (assumed).
Other independent printers are also closed today in NYC.
Thinking cap was donned, then...
KINKOS! Less than a half a mile away--walking distance to the Waldorf Astoria.

<saving how I pulled it off come Monday, for I made them fit it in  Grin>

At any rate, Chantale and Casey, at Kinkos, went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure that this DOUBLE-SIDED banner (two single-sided banners, grommeted together) is delivered to the Waldorf Astoria no later than 10AM tomorrow morning, the best I could do--apologies!

Not to brag (seriously), but I have over $500 USD invested in this project just to have some stupid Bitcoin banner waving like a motherfucker 15 rows up behind one of the goal posts (again, the best I could do  Roll Eyes) at MetLife Stadium during Super Bowl XLVIII with the hopes of having FOX Sports capture the wild man waving said banner to be broadcasted live to its 100M+ viewers. <breathe>

To top it off, said wild man gets to keep said banner after the fact, possibly selling it to pay for his Super Bowl ticket. <all humor aside, for I truly don't care, and enjoyed the challenge of bringing this project to fruition>

Granted, we're not outta the woods yets, but the gridiron is in site, no longer needing a Hail Mary to get Bitcoin close to the endzone.

TMIBTCITW does it again!  Cry Cry Cry

I know nothing but it seems clear that this is a team rivalry. Payton Manning is Denver Broncos, who are cast as the likely losers of this match; Richard 'You mad, bro?' Sherman appears to be Seattle Seahawks and then I guess seen as being Payton Manning's nemisis and hero of what is likely to be the winning team. Outlook for Bitcoin in Denver: cloudy.

My first choice was Corn Beef Hash, but feared that the uninitiated wouldn't understand.  Grin

Bottom line, a majority of the Seattle Seahawks fans will get the overall references cleverly incorporated in the banner... sans the Bitcoin part saved for us.

I just thought of something! CC doesn't have one banner, for it's two singles grommeted together, perhaps easily separated. Imagine if they were separated during the game, then there would be two Bitcoin-themed banners a wavin'. He'll know what to do, for it's in good hands now.

Overstock just previous announced that they will start accepting bitcoins during the design process of the banner. Looking at their site, the page I opted to link to just felt right to go along with the mostly Richard Sherman theme of which, he too, just announced that his site is accepting bitcoin payments, just a couple days prior to beating the 49ers. That is all.

Tired! Just read the above paragraph six times in a row, and still haven't a clue as to if it's penned properly, or is it correctly?

He wants to show to the Super Bowl fans that you can buy seahawks merch with Bitcoin, thus making them interessted in the technology, because they suddenly can relate to it.

Just got a call from Fedex/Kinkos, and the driver is having difficulty delivering the package because the front desk won't let him drop it off. I had to call the Waldorf and I told it was because of policy, but I pulled a few strings and got them to accept the package, but by that time the driver with the package left, but Kinkos then call me back, so all may be well now, albeit a second trip.

Tomorrow, I will go into detail as to how I got Kinkos to do a rush job and fit it into their completely full schedule, and using the same tactic to get this banner accepted at the front desk. You'll love it!

Success, in this case, will be measured by having the banner shown on FOX Sports live during the Super Bowl.

Why didn't you make it a donation address to Sean's Outpost? At least then you will know if anybody scans it.

If we, meaning all of us, pull this off, I'm sure Overstock will make a donation somewhere once they realize the jump in sales via bitcoins and reverse engineer as to where, how and why such were made.

Just spoke with the gal at the front desk of the Waldorf, and it's confirmed that the banner is waiting for our fellow Bitcoiner to claim it. I sent him a PM to let him know, along with telling him that this thread's a buzzin' with people asking for a pic of the banner prior to heading out to the field, ergo somebodys please ask for a pic otherwise I may be viewed as a liar.  Grin Shocked Roll Eyes (<--- pick one)

How many people are taking the banner? Just one?

For privacy purposes, let me just say at least one, but not trying to be an ass here. Better yet, more than one would be a better answer--but less than ten (may or not may be acting as an ass with that one  Cheesy).

Hi.

Maybe im completely clueless, but consider me a litmus test for "the general public".

Looking at the banner you posted on Page 1 of this thread leaves me scratching my head.

How does this promote Bitcoin?

If I was my 52 year old Aunt, I would see that banner and it would make absolutely no sense to me.  At least as far as the "B" in the middle.

The QR code is blocked by a helmet so its not usable to send money to right?

The text above and below it ... shutting down peyton manning - makes no sense to me either.

Seems like a fail on numerous levels as far as doing *anything* to promote Bitcoin.

Could have done something way more creative / interesting / fun with a Bitcoin banner at the superbowl.

Something that people with zero Bitcoin awareness would react to.

For example:  The college kid saying "Hey Mom send money" <--- brilliant.

This banner?   Makes no sense to me.

Thanks, I figured it was a local thing.

So instead of making a banner that 100 million viewers will get, and promote bitcoin en masse, you made a banner that only a portion of seattle seahawks fans will get. The super bowl is the biggest publicized event of the year.  Sorry to sound like a dick, but with something this huge, the Bitcoin community could've come up with something more viral-worthy.

You're trying to question the logic of Phinnaeus Gage? I'm surprised there wasn't a goat incorporated into it  Grin.

But I think a donation address to a charity or a link to a video on Bitcoin or something would've been better.

Yeah.

Someone needs to make a banner that is awesome and will get people's attention, even in Russia, who are watching in a local pub.

Something creative, interesting, and shocking in a good way.

Thats how post-superbowl news frenzy / article writing for an entire week after the event, happens.

Nobody is going to mention or write a word about this in any article.

Oh well.

Maybe next year.

For example:  The college kid saying "Hey Mom send money" <--- brilliant.

This banner?   Makes no sense to me.

I guess having five threads dedicated to garnering design elements for this epic banner wasn't enough.

For those wondering WFT this banner represents besides just filling a quest to get anything Bitcoin related broadcast during the Super Bowl for the first time without having to pay millions of dollars for advertising, I present the following:

Where the QR-Code and Google tiny URL link to: http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=seattle+seahawks&SearchType=Header

This is why: http://www.coindesk.com/overstock-ceo-holds-millions-bitcoin/

Why did I select Richard Sherman?: https://www.facebook.com/RichardShermanFanPage/posts/1444165912468032?stream_ref=10

Quote
For all you techies out there, I'm now accepting Bitcoins at my online store http://store.richardsherman25.com/. I hear it's the currency of the future.

Why was the top line used?: http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/story/0ap2000000317035/article/richard-sherman-perfect-as-the-face-of-super-bowl-xlviii

Why was "Shut Down" incorporated (one example of many): http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_25008892/richard-sherman-and-great-trash-talk-debate

Quote
“I am not saying I am going to 'shut him up,' but I am going to go out and try to make some plays so I don't have anybody coming up to me saying I got shut down by Sherman,” said Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

And why this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/richard-sherman-beats-tom-brady-taunts-pats-u-104646336--nfl.html

Quote
Richard Sherman beats Tom Brady; taunts the Pats with ‘U MAD BRO?’ after the game

On to the other symbolisms/elements incorporated, mainly gleaned from http://store.richardsherman25.com/

Richard Sherman's iconic phrase.

Inspiring the overall color scheme. Note the bleeding aspect, of which was cleverly incorporated into the banner design.

Associated mainly with Richard Sherman.

Look familiar?

I even incorporated RS' logo: http://www.amazon.com/Richard-Sherman-Seattle-Seahawks-Hoodie/dp/B00HES1G0Y

Ergo, a lot of thought went into the final design, and hope the above illustrates that thought process.

Finally, Google search images with [richard sherman xlviii banner] (no brackets) and see what's number one.

Phinnaeus, we really needs to make sure this get's on twitter if we have a picture of it from far away in the crowd (or better: a video!). Tag @Overstock and hope for a retweet. That would be immense.

But even if that wouldn't happen I can imagine that some reporter picks it up and it get's added in some reports, as a side comment on how the Bitcoin community supports each other or when they talk about how Overstock recently adopted Bitcoin, and how they gained lots of new customers/supporters by doing so: This is a prime example!

Hope that the banner is out of fabric, so the banner-guy can stuff it under his clothes. Otherwise security might take it away. Which would suck hard.

Actually, that's Part B of the plan, predicated on what images can be gleaned from the live broadcast.

Tweets with @Overstock and/or #Overstock would only be a part of the follow-up campaign I have instored for this particular endeavor. If all goes according to plan, that'll be that much more oomph I'll have in my court for the Great Flag Race to atop Mount Everest this summer--with or without Dogecoin.

I'm sure our friends over at Let's Talk Bitcoin or Bitcoin Magazine (online version, at least), among others, will pick it up first by Monday morning, whereupon those mainstream entities having RSS feeds from them will use it as fodder for their growing Bitcoin audience.

Hopefully, I won't have to hunt something formal to wear if I'm invited on Good Morning America to sit next to Richard Sherman.

Now, who's in charge of embedding a kickoff countdown clock in some subsequent post on this thread?

Mongo want clock, or he become  Cry.

I only read less than six posts my him and was convinced, not wasting my time to Google-fu.

Due to time, the banner had to made using vinyl. I'm sure two layers, grommeted together, measuring 3' X 4' each, can easily be folded and hidden under several layers of clothing donned by one of our guy's confederates. If not, anybody here have a backup plan?  Undecided

Thanks, Bitcoinwunder. You da man! BTW, all, Bitcoinwunder is the one that created the graphic, placing all the design elements in place via my instructions without a hitch. He's a good guy, to boot.

A couple other aspects explained pertaining the banner above.

The first line "THE FACE OF SUPER BOWL XLVIII" corresponds with the helmet/mask in the center of the graphic design. Also, "VIRES IN NUMERIS" can easily represent the 11 players of a team on the gridiron at any given time during plays.

I guess most people in Europe haven't even heard of this 'Super Bowl'. Told my gf, - she had no clue what it is. Doubt my mum would know either. Cheesy

I told her it's something like the final match of the UEFA Champions League. The most important American Football game. But I'm not even sure if that's entirely correct, tbh.

Tell him to check with other people coming in for seat position and if they're Seahawks fans, so they can try to get it in.

Too late, for he's already inside, probably unable to exit out, then back in again. Status of banner is unknown.

If only I were able to speak with the security guard, there may have been a chance that he would have let them pass with banner in hand, for I've used this secret weapon twice already: Once with Kinkos, after being told that it'll be impossible to produce and deliver the banner, for they were extremely busy, then again at the front desk of the Waldorf when told that they had a policy that no packages are accepted for guests not listed as registered at their hotel. On both occasions, they changed their tune, bending over backwards to accommodate me after I unleashed this secret weapon on them.

SO SAD!

Hope that the banner is out of fabric, so the banner-guy can stuff it under his clothes. Otherwise security might take it away. Which would suck hard.

Epic Banner Waver Guy's credibility is proven. A real bitcoiner. All good!

Undecided

MetLife Stadium Guest Services Hotline    201-559-1515

Looks like vehicles were subject to search too, so he needed to have sewn the grommets into his jacket liner even before he got there... http://www.metlifestadium.com/guest-services/guest-policies

Since it was likely confiscated, he needs to get it from security immediately after the game, and run to where the cameras are to get in the background of the live shots.

The following items are not permitted to be carried into MetLife Stadium:

Any type of non-clear bag exceeding 4.5” x 6.5” in size including purses/handbags, camera or binocular cases, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, and briefcases/computer bags
Seat cushions of any size except those for medical needs
Glass bottles, cans, coolers of any kind, thermoses or ice chests
Alcohol of any kind
Banners, signs or flags of any size
Umbrellas, strollers, laser pointers, and balls of any kind including full-sized footballs
Single purpose video cameras or still-photography cameras with a lens longer than 6"
Weapons, any item that may be used as a projectile or one that is deemed dangerous by Stadium management
Any animal with the exception of a service animal

And that, my friends, is how one blows $500+ USD and tens of hours on a project that shouldn't have been taken on in the first place. With all the eyeballs, including mine, perusing their site, this is the first time I've seen the above.

Address both at the same time.

I most definitely didn't ignore it, but I do see where I made my mistake.

What items are prohibited from the stadium?
Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: purses larger than 4.5” x 6.5”, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags/draw string bags that are not clear or exceed 12” x 6” x 12”, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags, and large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers.

It is now clear to me that reading is not my mother language:

pro·hib·it·ed
prəˈhibitid,prō-/
adjective
1.
that has been forbidden; banned.

per·mit·ted
verb
past tense: permitted; past participle: permitted
pərˈmit/
1.
give authorization or consent to (someone) to do something.

I swear that when I first read prohibited, it was permitted, thus each subsequent time I came across the word, my mind continue to read it as permitted.

Thank goodness that this is the ONLY mistake I've made in the past year.  Roll Eyes

BTW, don't mention this post over on the Black Arrow thread, otherwise...  Shocked

See how easy it is to claim responsibility? I'm the one that fucked up here and have nobody to blame but myself. I even went the extra mile and shown how I fucked up, thus allowing us to move on.

And move on we shall, unless there's a sign atop Mount Everest permitting the planting of Bitcoin-themed flags, I think I'm good to go in that endeavor.

Still,

Just watched the FG online and the score is now 5-0, Seattle.

But that's not why I came to post about. Anybody else watching the game noticed all the banners during that last field goal? I am so pissed off right now over seeing them, expecting to see none, that I may call the NSA there at the game and inform them of the terrorist threats, for if they guys were able to get pass security with their banners, what other lethal weapons could they have possibly carried in on their person.

Doesn't the NSA realize that a piece of paper of the sizes I witnessed could easily slice somebody's head off? If only the NSA had cameras in place to see for themselves all of those terrorist in the stands.

What a fucked up a country I live in, the first time I've even penned, let alone thought such thoughts.

This is fucked up on so many levels.

Ugh, I wonder how much they forked out to get their name in those commercial slots. I can understand why banners might be prohibited due to viewing restrictions, but we all know that the commercial reasons for prohibiting banners trumps everything.

Wtf, why do all these people have banners/flags etc? Were they the lucky ones to smuggle them past security? Or maybe they were purchased within the grounds? Sucks, that would have been a great shot as well. Would have stood out nicely among the sea of generic banners.

I see some kind of Asian language (could have been sharpied on white shirts), a Canada flag (non sequitur), numbers, and dead center the white banner seems to have a Seahawks logo on it. Still, they're all "prohibited" banners/signs/flags and security is RIGHT THERE.

Haha, now that sounds like something that folk in online communities could somehow pull off. An expensive job, mind.

Somebody near the bottom of the stand should throw a Casascius coin into the end zone, that would get air-time assuming that a player found it. Of course, the person throwing would likely be ejected from the stadium and banned, but meh, the sacrifices we must make Tongue

Having the word Bitcoin on there somewhere would probably get us a lot more attention.   You'd think the majority of people will look at that banner, shrug, and move along.  Even if they scan it there's no links to Bitcoin other than a site that also happens to accept it.

Still, good work getting it all organised etc Smiley

About the only good thing to happen all night.

(He'll be fine, plus Seattle's secondary is dirty as hell anyway, plus he's an ass even if he does have good ball skills.)

That said, I was supporting the Hawks in the third - such was my disappointment in the Broncos. I wanted a shutout.

Actually, I'll have to agree with TK's sentiment, albeit I would have penned "Epic FAIL" in larger red font.

In fact, I'm going to quote his post in my thread(s) concerning this summer's race to atop Mount Everest to plant a sponsored(s) Bitcoin-theme flag.

Odd! Noticed the banner to the left of that blue 12 banner, centered between the goal posts. This is approximately where our Bitcoiner would be seating, and it looks like to be of the same size depicting a very similar image, begging the question, did it somehow make its way in?

Odd! Noticed the banner to the left of that blue 12 banner, centered between the goal posts. This is approximately where our Bitcoiner would be seating, and it looks like to be of the same size depicting a very similar image, begging the question, did it somehow make its way in?

Compare the above with...

I cant see anything...

What's the over/under for the final score being 42-0 in the first ever 420 Bowl I?

Another banner shot:

I feel like I'm playing Where's Waldo. Where is the Bitcoin banner?

There isn't one. It didn't even make it into the stadium.

Bad luck, phinny. Props for trying though, you crazy goatman.

First off, supposedly the banner didn't make into the stadium due to security. I simply noticed a similar sized banner, located where our guy would have been seated, blowing up the image. The banner I'm pointing out is in the center of the following image...

...blown up from this image:

Apologies for having you guys playing Where's Waldo, for that wasn't my intent.

Now compare:

But that's not it, for if you go here http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3676/12279020193_757b95a995_o.jpg you'll see in the larger image that this is not our banner.

So can we finally get the picture of the banner? I'd love to see it.

Even if the banner guy only took one in front of the stadium or while waiting in line, trying to get in, it would already be pretty cool. He said he took a picture - so make him upload it!

New topic: "The Bitcoin-themed banner that ALMOST was present at Super Bowl XLVIII."

I mean really. It would have been perfect, especially that the green team won! You mad bro?

I just PM our bitcoiner to see when we'll expect to see pics.

I did just find out that even though my banner didn't make it in, a smaller Bitcoin-themed banner was present in MetLife Stadium during Super Bowl XLVIII, albeit no images showing proof of such has made the rounds yet.

Ergo, this may not be an Epic FAIL.  Shocked Me so happy!

Sign regulations, security stole it.

when i first heard a banner would be at the superbowl, i was thinking sponsorship banner . not a silly little placard held by one of the audiance..

and to make it worse they couldnt even get a person in the audience to show something that was visible on TV.

ultimate fail and a waste of any money that was put into it.

much like the south pole flag...

lts hope the bitpay sponsorship  this december will be better
