I am just wondering how long this is going to be discussed.  i understand that people lost coins and that can be a real pain, but the longer that everyone focuses on the past, the less time that is devoted to the future.  Maybe it is time to move on to the next investment/site or whatever.  That is the only way that anyone is going to "recoup", on their own, from another project.

I think this is going to be discussed forever and I am sure sooner or later this Marcello and many other scammers will get caught and pay what they deserve to.
And to show people (new users) how this business is dirty, is good to keep threads like this alive.
To be honest, I do not belive that it is possible to catch this scammers, but at least we can warn people to not trust in "easy money"

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

It is possible that Marcello is dead and the people left just shut it down an took everything.   We got scammed but it isn't really clear what happened.

Jesus Henry Fucking Christ, are you out of your mind or perhaps you are 'Marcello' and are just desperately hoping the authorities don't catch up with you.

It is very clear what happened, mathematics proved that Scrypt.cc did not have the hash power they were selling to people.

This was absolutely proven to be a scam and your repeated defence of it even now is highly suspect. Your negative trust rating from back then is still correct now:
Quote
Continues to defend ScryptCC scam as partially legitimate. Continues to offer "fractional mining" defenses and continues to obfuscate factual discussions about this Ponzi. Refuses to acknowledge mathematical proof that ScryptCC isn't mining without any facts to back up this claim. See reference.

You are posting like a moron.   I wasn't defending scrypt.cc and I never encouraged people to invest there.

It is pretty clear that you don't have any real evidence about what really happened either.   The only thing we know for certain is that it turned total scam.

Additionally for the intellectually limited, fractional mining is in fact a type of ponzi.   In 2013 there was some evidence of mining going on, albeit not the strongest of evidence.   In the end it doesn't matter because someone took everyone's coins there.   Total scam.  We just don't know who exactly did what.   In fact we don't even know who Marcello really was or if he was real what really happened to him.

There are a some ponzi schemes were we know exactly who the players are and they are being pursued.   Examples of those are GAW Miners and LTCgear.   Unfortunately we don't currently have that kind of information about scrypt.cc.   The only thing we really know is that is that people that mined there ended up being scammed.

If Marcello was telling the truth

If Homero was telling the truth
If Chris was telling the truth

See a pattern here?

I guess if "Marcello" resurfaced again with some sob story about his hardships there would be no shortage of suckers willing to give it another go. SMH.

The only pattern I see is that you don't have much credibility yourself.   I remember you defending LTCgear.   That didn't turn out well.   Being willing to give people a chance isn't the same as trusting them.

For the record I never called anyone at GAW "Homero" or did I ever say "if they were telling the turth" about them.   With GAW I was pretty sure it was a fractional mining scam, it just turned out to be far worse than I though.   It was also clear that the GAW leadership wasn't being honest.   I did get burned a little there, but mostly because I got too greedy at the end and waited too long to sell.   At least in that case the leaders are likely going to pay.   I will credit you for being completely correct about GAW miners although you were quite hostile about it.

My guess if that is Marcello was real, he is probably dead.   I don't believe he would have any credibility coming back a 3rd time.   However some people would try a new scrypt.cc because of greed.   Even once scrypt.cc quit honoring withdraws people kept investing there.   It was crazy as there wasn't any doubt at that time that it was a scam.   I have to admit I'm curious about what kind of sob story would be told.

Keep in mind there are many ponzi schemes that people are involved in everyday, many of those are ran by governments.  For example in the US there is OASI (Social Security).   There can be cases made that even fiat currencies or stocks are ponzi schemes.   I'm not claiming those are scams, but the concept of a ponzi is often misused and only applied to scammers.   In reality there are many scheme's that depend on new money following in to support some taking money out.  On the flip side, something doesn't have to be a ponzi to be a scam.   There are many kinds of scams.

I have no problem with labeling scrypt.cc a scam as it clearly was a scam, I just don't know the details about it.   I'm not going to claim I know the details just to make some self righteous clowns happy.

Wow, straight-up bullshit now? Where did I "defend" LTCGear?

For the record I never called anyone at GAW "Homero" or did I ever say "if they were telling the turth" about them.  With GAW I was pretty sure it was a fractional mining scam, it just turned out to be far worse than I though.

I didn't say you literally said that. My point is that there are apologists for pretty much every scam and you happened to be one for Homero, Chris, and Marcello despite overwhelming evidence to their scamminess and way past their expiration date.

Even now, three years after the fact - fractional mining, really? The hashlet scheme was a ponzi scam. The SEC even says so. Why do you need to keep inventing new rationalizations?

It was also clear that the GAW leadership wasn't being honest.   I did get burned a little there, but mostly because I got too greedy at the end and waited too long to sell.   At least in that case the leaders are likely going to pay.   I will credit you for being completely correct about GAW miners although you were quite hostile about it.

Ever hear of "two wrongs don't make a right"? Relevance fallacy?

I'm sorry if you perceive my laughing at militant stupidity and shameful lies - both present in copious amounts in the GAW drama, as well as in this thread - as being hostile. It's easy to avoid that "hostility" though - don't be a raging dumbass and/or a lying piece of shit.

You jumped in slinging mud, don't be so self-righteous when you end up with being covered by some of it.

You used maintain payouts from various cloud mining sites and you were quite happy with the LTCgear results.   We went around about the results on LTCgear vs scrypt.cc.   At the time I was sure LTCgear was a fractional mining scheme which is a type of ponzi but wasn't sure about scrypt.cc.   Anyway it may not have been a direct endorsement, but LGTgear probably was a much larger scam than scrypt.cc by amounts invested.  However both were scams in the end.   Unfortunately the pre-2014 posts seem to be gone after a rather large bitcointalk crash that occurred so I have to go by memory here.

As for GAW ... you were correct but you were also a jerk about it.  Just for redundant clarification, fractional mining is just a type of ponzi, all it means is there is some real mining but not enough to cover what is being sold.   It is similar to how banks can lend money with fractional reserves.   However in the case of bank lending, that is controlled by the FED in the USA, basically government backed.   I understand you believe you were justified, I was just turned off by your attacks and joining in with others that were very vulgar at the time.

I'm more than willing just to leave you alone but you decided you needed to start flaming me again for no valid reason.   If you have real information about scrypt.cc then please share it rather than just random attacks.   There is nothing wrong with exposing scams, there is a great deal wrong with random personal attacks.

You're simply lying. I did not have LTCGear in my mining comparison thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514242.160

I did track scrypt.cc, with warnings and all.

There are no missing posts. My whole post history is there. I started on Bitcointalk in January 2014.

GAW never provided any proof of mining. This whole fractional thing is only in your head. Homero (AKA "Josh") tried really hard to prove he was mining, to the point where purchased miners from Bitmain in October 2014, TWO MONTHS AFTER he started the hashlet ponzi. And those were SHA256 miners, hashlets were mostly Scrypt. And then he resold those miners quietly, e.g. here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962477 and also on eBay etc.

So much for "fractional". Unless you consider 0 a fraction.

Funny though how you're now demanding "real information" about scrypt.cc when your own contribution in necro-bumping this thread was this:

It is possible that Marcello is dead and the people left just shut it down an took everything.   We got scammed but it isn't really clear what happened.   If Marcello was telling the truth about his health ...

On the other hand, a liver transplant isn't something easy to come by ...

That "real information"?

Or how about this:

You are posting like a moron.   I wasn't defending scrypt.cc and I never encouraged people to invest there.

Except you've written some essays defending scrypt.cc at various points in time:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.msg6329405#msg6329405
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.msg12357481#msg12357481

You tend to have some lame excuse for not providing any proof of your statements, e.g. you don't want to waste your time digging it up, or there was some mysterious Bitcointalk crash.

This is not a random personal attack, this is me plainly telling you that you're a lying scam apologist, with links and facts to back my opinion. I have already mentioned that militant stupidity and shameful lies are my pet peeves so this shouldn't come as any surprise.

I don't remember if you tracked LTCgear or if you just bought it on your own.   We went around about a lot at the time.   It is possible I have you confused with someone else basically using your name or very similar, the online forums are filled with crazy people.  If that is the case then I'm sorry about that confusion.  However there isn't any lying involved on my part.   (I don't think it was on this forum, it was probably on the old litecointalk forum, so it is possible it was someone just posing as you.)

It seems like you really waste a lot of time trying to piece together a bogus case.  I never wrote an essay about scrypt.cc, although I have posted about experiences and tried to answer questions.   I never encouraged anyone to ever invest there and I often stated that.   I used to have respect for you but slowly learned you couldn't tolerate anyone that doesn't agree with your views.   I've never encouraged people to invest in any cloud mining, but I have tried to be objective.  There is a big difference between giving someone a chance and trusting them.

Anyway it is clear you have thin skin and can't take any heat, so you should just stop randomly slinging mud.   You are the one trying to pick a fight, not me.

I'm trying to dispute your statements, you're the one trying really hard to turn this personal, what with the LTCGear nonsense etc. Don't project your mud slinging on me. I couldn't care less if someone has different "views" but I strongly believe in making informed decisions, which lying shills such as yourself try to undermine.

Stating repeatedly that scrypt.cc has proof of mining but not providing such proof was NOT "objective". It's a lie and an attempt to fool suckers into losing their money.

Same with GAW and other schemes you shilled for.

LOL at litecointalk. I've never even registered there.

No you came out randomly attacking me for no real reason over crap you were throwing around years ago.   Now you feel justified is tying to defend yourself when you were the attacker.   I never claimed there was 100% proof of anything with scrypt.cc.   Pointing out there was some evidence isn't the same as proof.    Anyway that was long gone by the time they came back so you are digging into 2014.   Now scrypt.cc is dead there is no defending of anything going on.

For the record I'm now making more than I ever did with scrypt.cc doing the same types of things that scrypt.cc claimed to be doing.   I'm far from the only one doing it too.   Well you claim there is no proof, some of the methods I'm currently using I learned about from on-line chats at scrypt.cc with Marcello.    Maybe there wasn't any mining there but he sure knew his stuff when it came to mining altcoins.

As for the LTCgear it could have been someone impersonating you.   You were certainly throwing yourself around as an expert in those days and that kind of thing often happens on these forums.   I'll drop that point although I don't really trust much of anything you are stating.   I don't even remember exactly which forum it was at this point.

In my book you are nothing but a self-righteous troll.

"Pointing out there was some evidence" is blatant shilling unless you can produce said evidence. Can you? Spare me the 2014 crap. You were shilling back then too and failing to provide evidence. I'm pretty sure there wasn't and isn't any then and now. But feel free to prove me wrong.

Having said that, I do admire your new attempt at legitimizing scrypt.cc. Please share what those "types of things that scrypt.cc claimed to be doing" are.

As for LTCGear - you do realize that you're lying TO ME ABOUT ME, don't you? We both know it's bullshit so what's the point of this exercise? Completely off topic too.

I don't have a book about you, sorry.

I don't have a book about you, sorry.

What I know is I'm being honest, I don't know about you.   I already stated that it could have been someone pretending to be you.   I was on many forums and chats at the time and if it wasn't you then it was just someone pretending to be you.

As for scrypt.cc there was plenty of evidence that you would never accept back in 2013/2014.   They used to list how much mining was directed at various coins, although the coins were numbered.   There was also the fact that questions were asked and answered.   However while they didn't most of the wallet addresses they were mining too.   However, I'm not about to give out my addresses either.   There are plenty of reasons for that.   Much later after they came back the farming data was no longer available.   I can't prove that it was real and you can't prove that it was fake but it doesn't matter because scrypt.cc did turn into a scam, twice.

There is no way I'm trying to legitimize scrypt.cc.   We don't know what happened to who or who controlled the scam.   Just because Marcello knew a lot about altcoin mining says doesn't redeem the fact that scrypt.cc shutdown and stole many people's coins.    We don't even really know who Marcello (aka the Admin) really was.   That doesn't change the fact that I learned a lot about altcoin mining from the chats that I was involved in there.   As for sharing the knowledge, forget about it.   I'm not here encourage anyone to do anything risky.   All forms of crypto-mining are highly risky.   I don't make any coin off anyone else and I have no intentions of starting that.

You just can't seem to stop your trolling ... stop trying to twist everything into a scam.

scrypt.cc is a scam. You said it yourself. Not sure how I can twist it any different.

And you're still not providing any evidence of actual mining ever conducted by scrypt.cc. Saying that you're honest doesn't make it so. This fallacy is known as "appeal to authority". You're repeatedly failing to provide any verifiable facts to substantiate your claims, whether today or 3 years ago. Facts trump intertubes "honesty" 100% of the time.

You wouldn't accept anything as evidence so stop being so dishonest.   It doesn't matter anyways because scrypt.cc shutdown and took all the BTC it has collected.   That is the scam.   The details going up to that part of the scam don't really matter.  So I'm not going to waste time substantiating any perceived claims.   Besides evidence of mining isn't proof of mining.   I could show you the evidence of what I'm doing and you would claim it isn't proof.   But I know what I'm doing is 100% real and it works for me so I don't really care what you think.

I could just cry scam, scam, scam like a chicken little.   There is nothing of value in doing that.   Instead I take what I've learned and put it to good use.   That works for me and I don't involve others and frankly I have always avoided that.  That way there is no chance of scamming anyone ever.

You're not going to waste time substantiating your own claims but you're wasting time attributing false statements to me. You don't care what I think but you make bold assumptions as to what I think of evidence that I haven't even seen. How quaint Smiley

The scam is ALL OF IT, not just the part where scrypt.cc ran away with the BTC. And if not for all the shilling, and talk of non-existent "evidence", and other bullshit believed by the greedy suckers there wouldn't be as many BTC to run away with.

The one thing I've learned about bitcointalk is there are a lot of dishonest posters here.   There are a lot of people that claim they are saints but over time you learn they aren't.

Anyway your claims against me are false.   I suspect that many of claims you make are only just to pump yourself up.   I probably lost more in scrypt.cc than most here have ever had in terms of BTC.  But I'm not going to waste time crying about it.  I'm also not going to worry about self appointed saints that are just out to create villains everywhere.     You have thrown so much mud over so many posts that you really have no justification is claiming you are falsely accused.   It is only your mud slinging that has tainted yourself.

The only truth we know about scrypt.cc is none of us know what actually happened.   As far as I'm aware no one has legally pursued them either.

Took you 3 months to come up with a new pivot? The whole "saint" thing is just in your head. I don't give a shit about some imaginary forum cred. I'm simply pointing out at least two blatant lies in your attempt to whitewash this scam: (1) existence some secret proof that you inexplicably can't disclose; and (2) even more bizarre accusations regarding LTCGear that you also can't prove.

Post proof of the above or stop necro bumping.

I remember seeing somewhere some people posting server addresses, names and emails (under this topic I think), a while back... I'm still relatively a newb, so I dont know much about pulling such data. Please include me in any actions you take against scrypt.cc

I also emailed you from my email address.

Best regards,
