I bought back my original GPU Mining Rig and it is well overdue for a comprehensive cleaning. This RX470 Miner has been mining Ethereum since it was under $40 USD?! Today I show you how to clean your mining rig QUICK and EASY! (the basics)

I would suggest investing in a DataVac electronic air duster instead of using canned air. More effective and you don't have to keep buying canned air. A small air compressor is another option, but it's less convinient and easy to overdue it with too much air pressure. You also have to be aware of moisture and condensation from using compressed air.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16896367002&cm_re=duster-_-96-367-002-_-Product

With any cleaning method involving air be sure to keep the fan blades from moving as it's easy to damage them from spinning too fast and also shattering the blades off if it hits something while it's spinning.

Most of air compresor have some kind of release valve for moisture and condensation so you dont have to worry about that, wanted to mention them as a way to clean your rigs but hair dryer with cold air switch just looks like more practical solution Smiley

Compressed air is doing wonders for my mining rig.  After several months I give it a good spray and it lowers temps by a few degrees from all the accumulated dust.  Other than that, I just wipe the outside dust down and make sure the vents can breathe.

The airflow is way too weak to remove the dusts from confined spaces and corners.
Compressed air is the best choice, but for a practical solution, yes Hair dryer on cold setting will do the job.

But any of these can't remove the stuck dusts on the fan's surface, I'm using cotton swabs dipped in alcohol to clean them thoroughly.

You can use old canister cleaner with function blow out.
Or supersolution go to the tire vulcanization and use compressor, hold cooler with your hand while cleaning

I use this :
https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-garden/multi-functional-vacuum-cleaners/multi-purpose-vacuum-cleaners/wd-3-premium-home-16298500.html

But now I am considering designing a tall mining frame from  T-Slot Aluminum Profiles with integrated filter and strong Fan to save space and keep the rig clean.

I have this one, the so called compu cleaner: https://www.amazon.com/EasyGo-CompuCleaner-Electronic-Alternative-Compressed/dp/B00S7CH6FK/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528872604&sr=8-1-fkmr2&keywords=IT+Dusters+CompuCleaner+Xpert

And can totally recommend it.

Perfect to clean your rigs, pc, server ...

Well i personaly use tractor and its air compresor with an air hose that have special piston gun on the end(similar to pistons that are being used for painting)and can clean pretty much everything with it but then again its not really practical for everyone Grin

Yes basically compressed air from a compressor is the quick and easy way to do it.

However 2 things to keep in mind.

First one is make sure there isn't too much pressure, if too much pressure you will either crack a fan blade or you will spin the fan blade way too fast and destroy the bearing.

Second is hold the fan blades with a pencil or screwdriver when you blow into it so it doesn't spin, basically for the same reason as above.

Also make sure you turn off your rig first, don't do it while it running to prevent losing mining profits, its dangerious doing so.

There is no way in hell I would use a compressor unless (A) the air pressure was regulated down (B) the whole system has a Drier installed.  Theres a genius idea... Use compressed air full of water and blow it all over an electronic circuit.

I got this..https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787KXTFW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1

Probably too expensive for someone running a few GPU's but im over 30 gpu's and time is money and money not to be wasted on cans of air.

Yeah I was looking at that or the metrovac -- but I used a metrovac in my detailing days and my god does that machine pierce your ears (AND WITH SUCH A SMALL PACKAGE lol)

Unfortunately my air compressor broke in our last move, but like you stated the issue w/ moisture in it. I never had a water trap, did not really need it & was a basic model

This works wonders for me too, is there any good data AGAINST doing this? With the evap. time on alch (personally use 70 or 90% ipa, can just grab it at a local CVS walgreens etc) it is a much better bet than water or water+detergent etc
