There are several cryptos used on different platforms built on blockchain. If i was asked by someone, i'd say that the demand for a token can be proped up by demand for a product, if this product is backed by a blockchain.
This works the same with fiat, value of any currency depends on the amount of goods you can buy using it.

I was in debate about this with so many people, the answer is simple and very easy .

I will not tell you define value and this repeated questions but let me give one question .

From where value come from ? because no matter how much money you want to sell your item for, it will really not worth that much unless you find someone welling to pay that amount . Therefor value comes from 2 ends seller ( by put a price of his item ) buyer ( by agreeing to pay that price ) without those 2 you can not put a value to this item .

Now what about art ? you can apply the same theory above and it will make sense or else why the hell a piece of paper with random painting on it would worth millions of dollars ! it is because people gave it that value .

Apply same thing on crypto, as long as someone setting a sell price and there is someone paying that price then this is what that cryptocurrency worth .

But I don't try to convince anyone, that is not my role. I do like the underlying technology and once you understand that, then your eyes are opened.

For many years I didn't participate in the cryptocurrency market because I thought the same. But then companies - corporations have started to think how they could benefit from blockchain technology. The value of crypto comes from its usefulness but this time crypto has more advantage compared with fiat or even gold. The gold has only the art value and it doesn't make sense to give it a lot of value. And fiat will be useless to be used for long-distance transaction. Crypto is on the middle between fiat and gold.

You should calculate the cost of mining Bitcoin. This is a multi-billion dollar industry. It seems to me that people who have such huge money see value in the crypto currency

People believe in the crypto currency when they start to get something out of it! Anyway that is different stuff, and form where crypto currencies get value is very simple. It gets it from the investors like us! We are pouring our money into the different projects and when they get developed they launch their products and services and then they get more investors to use them. This way crypto currencies get value as they receive more and more money into the market capital.

Hello, my opinion: The truth is that bitcoin and altcoin are slower, more expensive, harder to expand, and provide a worse user experience than centralized copies. But the value of them come from:
- Bitcoin and altcoin are anti-censorship.
- Protect user from irresponsible governments or companies.
- Anonymity
- etc...

You are right that the price of cryptos is not fix because it is volatile compare to fiat but the opportunity of making profit is big unlike of having a stable fiat although risk is possible. That is why I do not tell it to people in whom I am sure that they will going to refuse.

Obviously the value of cryptocurrency is not so stable like gold. Its very volatile. but the value determined is as same as the value determination of gold. The value changes because of supply and demand. Also massive invest or sell also alter the values.
