Thanks for the smile. See a lot of potential for more sophistication, for example, enter a date you bought/held to add degrees of wisdom (for example, whether you bought ETH at $1,400 or $1), Bitcoin at $20k or $0.01... You could do a shit comparison, LTC vs DOGE, which one is a bigger pile of shit. Which one is smellier, which one is runnier...

Have I noticed a liking for DAG coins? NANO is a screaming HODL!!! (yes, 3 exclamation marks) and GBYTE is "That's some solid shit right there". I might almost tend to agree except IOTA also returns "You chose wisely".

The wisdom idea is funny - I'll add that to our list to think about.

And yes, the answers are based very much on marketcap right now from when we first created this. The answers are meant to be a good laugh, over time we can add more funny/specific answers on coins as more research is done. I think for now it can turn in to an interesting information portal that can also show you basic stats (notice we now show price, market cap, and volume), but below that it can say 'view more stats' and it can take you to that coins dashboard...showing market metrics, github metrics, and a shittiness ranking once we define some sort of algo.

We also can show like top 10 searched coins going through our system, just an interesting statistic to show - there have been well over 30,000 coins entered in the search in just the past 12 hours for example.

^^I tend to word vomit a bit, but let me know your thoughts Smiley

Haha, glad you liked the suggestion. Of course we all get that it's for laughs, so my suggestions are really geared towards cracking that grin wider, I'm very well aware that I own a number of shitcoins and don't particularly need convincing otherwise Wink

Oh and yes, a sort of cookie that tracks the user history (which coins they've entered and at which order). Like I could enter BTC first and BCH later, and that might affect my output (as opposed to BCH first and BTC later)?

...

Here's my way of looking at this:

(1)  If a coin has been around for a couple of years or so, AND the market capital is over $1 bn, then it's probably OK.

(2)  If not, then not OK, barring (3) just below.

(3)  A newcoin that passes muster by reasonably trusted well-known programmers in a public forum who know their stuff, AND are not connected to the coin itself.

Ease of use and intended user-base for a crypto are other factors for some.

I only own BTC and BCH.  I cannot vouch at all re the other 1900 cryptos.

BitConnect (the original BCC) would have fit that first criteria a while back Wink

Usage is the only criteria for me, but since we can't reliably track actual use (and I don't mean speculative trading), hard to tell which coins apart from Bitcoin actually have people using them.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

You should have several outputs for anything that is not listed on your database. If someone typed in something that was not in your "Shitlist", then you should have several different responses, like :

"Was that a Typo?"

"If it is not on our database, then it is shit."

"re-type the next Shitcoin, this one is not listed."

"We missed this shitcoin, but we will add it to the list."

I enjoyed the site and I think you should add a bunch of disclaimers to protect yourself from the shit storm that might come from this, when the developers of these coins revolt. ^lol^

Most coin devs find it funny, it's creating engagement (not moving the market lol), and ultimately, this will be promoting all crypto. View actual statistics and potentially merch for diff coins.

haha yes, we will be adding some error messages, and adding coins/tokens not on coinmarket cap as we are getting requests.

PiedpiperCoin Twitter even DM'd us to add them XD...we'll keep you posted on error messages tho, thanks!

Yeah, we're putting together metrics to start an algo to rank 'shittiness'...we'll start with metrics that are simpler to automate such as some github stats and market metrics. Over time we can manual add anon dev vs non anon dev, number of nodes, or how many wallets own X percent of liquidity, etc.

Oh...and yes, we are going to be changing the BCC response lol "MM..MM.MM..NO NO NO!"

Also - this is the thank you we sent to our newsletter sign ups: http://doiownashitcoin.com/thankyou/ - currently brainstorming interesting topics for the first one.

Soon we'll be adding a company stats page showing top coins searched, number of searches, etc to start...will let you know when that's up for feedback. And working on shittiness algo more for coin dashboards. lol

Gold, silver, bronze, shit-tier poops?

For now, we posted newsletter/blog post thing #1: http://doiownashitcoin.com/blog/

This site is awesome I find out many shitcoins in my wallet  Cheesy. But all of this coin came from airdrops. I think 5/15 tokens in my wallet are good. And thanks for this site for giving me some info about coins. I will keep use this to double check my coins in airdrop and selfdrop.

Currently market cap primarily, but we are working with some partners creating a sentiment algo in addition to other metrics such as github stats, to create a 'shittiness' algo.

New shit! We just added: just added the beginning of 'company stats' http://doiownashitcoin.com/stats/ - we'll show more stats/real sentiment over time.

We are also working with a partner to create a sentiment analysis algo to plug in. Anyways, if there are more stats you want to see - let us know!

@doiownashitcoin

Enjoy!

Whats running behind the site besides an automatic response that an altcoin is a shitcoin if its not BTC? If theres nothing then at minimum put some funny jokes or memes as responses, otherwise the idea behind the project is okay but more contentful responses needed.

I'm assuming that there are certain flags on each of the coins, and within those flags is a database of responses that are dependent on whether a coin is (a) a shitcoin, (b) a semi-shitcoin, or (c) not a shitcoin, or something along those lines.

Hahahahaha! This is a brilliant way to collect targeted emails Smiley I checked a bunch of my coins and there was one coin under the ''MegaShit'' category.

My sentiments, exactly!

I know that there really isn't a purpose for this site besides novelty, but it's quite humorous; I've forwarded it to all my crypto friends and they all got a good laugh out of it Tongue

Appreciate the love! We'll work on adding some better responses, fine tuning some things and showing some cool metrics.

Can you make the site "freeze" for 5 seconds if the coin inquired is one the the shittiest of shitcoins lol. Then end with a very funny meme or message that the site cannot handle it.

CryptyMike, how much does Roger Ver need to pay you to change BCH's text to BCH is the real Bitcoin? The site can produce a great deal of profit.

The program says that ZAP is a shitcoin. Well I'm not surprised because I already knew that fact very long time ago that's why I just gave up on it. But saying ETN, EOS and NEO are shitcoins? I barely disagree. I believe those coins have a bright future (I hope I'm not wrong in picking ETN) Well, I don't take this seriously because it's very obvious that the program has no strong basis of what it says. Grin

Anyway, I noticed that there is no constant comments on some coins, though it has same negative feedback but still different in words which makes me wonder if the system of the program only make random comments for each coin. I searched Etn and it says "Hodl that shit" then I next xrp, eos and neo; and when I searched etn again it's now "Good job! You selected a top-tier shitcoin, not a shit-tier shitcoin". Is this an error?

Totally agree

This has been answered several times in this thread lol - "HODL that shit" and "Good job! Top-tier shitcoin, etc" has a similar sentiment in our opinion. There are diff answers with the same level of sentiment depending on the subset. You need to understand that it's ranking shittiness (i.e. even BTC would be a higher-tier 'shitcoin'). So, it's not defining shitcoin or not shitcoin, it's going by shittiness. Right now it's really market cap as a basis, but we are working on a more robust algo with github metrics and other sentiment analysis tools that other people have reached out to us about. Appreciate the interest.

Doing a giveaway of some funny 'shitcoin' t-shirts lol (https://twitter.com/DoIOwnaShitcoin/status/1016023511700312064)

But...we're currently working on a 'shittiness' algo and dashboards for each coin. This will prob be in V1, then we plan to integrate Twitter sentiment for all of the coins, and show that as part of the dashbaord and incorporate in to the 'shittiness' algo.

Once we push a version I'll let you know, we'll be open to feedback.

Cheers
