I'm actually starting to see some really nice people reach out to me.....and it makes me so happy.
I came here as a last resort but have gotten a few dollar donations and even a small time job offer.

This is what I wanted to come of this post, not a 100 free BTC. I'm not a scammer. Just a kid down on his luck, at the end of his rope.

Thank you so much to those who took the time to message me. You have no idea....just thank you.

I made a portfolio... http://hunterraines.cloudvent.net
Doesn't even matter. I'm sorry I wasted my time.

Actually it does, unless you are a liar? You said you weren't begging, bur rather offering services for money.

Are you begging?
Or are you not?

If not, and you are indeed proposing web design services in exchange, you need to link to your portfolio so people can see what to expect from your competences.

Currently, all* of your works in your portfolio are links to 404s. Additionally there is a spelling error in a title, "SKILS" vs "SKILLS". You may say that English is not your mother tongue (it isn't mine either FWIW) but you will probably not find professional customers in the UK until you get these problems fixed.

You may find my posts unsupportive, yet they are sincere and try to be useful. You may continue to call me names, if it helps you, so be it. You will probably find more supportive members below, maybe they'll even call me names as well.

The thing is, given what I've been through in my own life, I have noticed there were a lot of people who were just sorry for me. And there was one who wasn't sorry at all, saying I had to face it and move forward. He's the one who ended up helping me the most.

* edit: actually most of them. Some lead to a screenshot.

I'm sorry for calling you names, just I can't take being called I liar when I am pouring out my heart on here. This is a much more helpful response thank you. I didn't even catch the spelling error! I know my projects won't show, I've been busy with school and the portfolio was just kind of a work in progress on the side. Thank you though, really. It's just irritating being called a liar and a scammer when all I'm trying to do is get support one way or another.

Fuck you. These aren't lies. This is all real truth that I took time to fucking type out and put out there. You're an asshole.

The difficulty is that nobody cares. If they tried, they would quickly burn themselves out.

What is the Monkeysphere?

Even if we did have the capacity to care, it would be difficult (but probably not impossible) to vet all of the sob stories. Bitcoin is a game-changer. Suddenly, you can irreversibly transfer value in minutes. People who don't react with a "this is probably a scam" attitude are setting themselves up to lose a lot of money.

I gather that many Bitcoin enthusiasts are not very rich at all. They spend them almost as fast as they acquire them. I myself made low thousands because I was not able to sell as the price climbed 1000% in November (paper wallets FTW).

I can tell you that a few thousand dollars won't last long if you have to pay rent. One rule of thumb I heard is that rent should not exceed about 30% if income. The corollary is that people spend a lot of their income on rent (or transportation).

I wonder if Tiago Faia knows this Hunter Raines ?  Should we ask him what He (or She) thinks of your portfolio?   It looks like you have done some of the same work!!!

Whoever you are,  spend time doing productive work please.  If you work at it as hard as you do begging you will do quite well.

I see you did some work for them.    Now, can you lend me some money please?

I think you should get a job, work hard, save some money for your script miner.

I starting working at a bakery when I was 16, now I cook at one of the top restaurants in North America. I pay for rent, phone bill and internet, transportation and have money left over for whatever I want.

This is a part of life and growing up, you are 18 and whether you were/are addicted to drugs or not, you still have the ability to do whatever you want in life. I smoke weed from time to time but I still have to manage my money, you just need to sort out what your priorities are.

As harsh as it is, maybe being out on the street would be that wake-up call where you make that choice. I spent the last 4.5 years working around Australia and New Zealand backpacking and working along the way, even ended up homeless a couple times cause I didn't have enough money.

If your homeless in another country your basically fucked, you cant go on benefits

OP hopefully things will get better for you soon. I won't tell you how you should spend your money; that's your decision to make, just make sure you fully evaluate your circumstances.

... I'm not defending anyone's behavior on this thread, but please don't take it personal if/when you're looked at as a scam. Look at from everyone else's point of view.

And to those who have absolutely no tact: Are you not able to express your opinion without name calling? Sometimes I feel like I'm in elementary school! Granted, the majority of posts asking for coins are obvious scams, but some could be genuine... of course we have people so eager to identify a scam they're making accusations based on nothingness.

I see your point, just hurts to hear liar and scam, when I'm being 100% honest about things in my life that I'm grieving and worrying about.
It's frustrating. But I've revised my orginal post to hint less towards donations and more towards support and job offers etc.

Thank you.

I wish you would think before you were so quick to judge, Tiogo Faia is one of my idols in web design, I haven't linked to any of his projects they're all 404, I just used them as placeholders because Tiago is someone who has really crafted some cool jquery concepts into his work.

I haven't been able to even publish a final portfolio, that was something I was in progress of. God damn.

Do yourself a favor.  Do not put the work of other designers, idols or not, into YOUR portfolio (as placeholders) and put it out there looking for work!!!!  Why don't you put the websites YOU designed into YOUR portfolio in those places you are holding instead of the work of Tiago Faia!
You had your chance and you blew it sir.

Learn from your mistake and you may get a job. As it was, I was looking at what I thought was your work to see if I could pay you to work on my e-commerce website.  I am angry that I wasted my time evaluating what I thought was your work and found that it was not anything of the sort.

On an aside, I would never hire someone to work for me that speaks the way you do in your postings.  Clean up your act and your language you will definitely fare better.  Good bye.

*sigh* It's fine, it's usually my luck anyway, I always fuck things up somehow, I wasn't trying to get a job in the begining, was just looking for support then I dug up my old portfolio...that I never finished. I have some actual work of mine lying around on a flashdrive somewhere, but I haven't had the time...

I'm sorry I mislead you. This is why I want to give up though, I always manage to make myself look bad, one way or another.
One misunderstanding, and another and another...with family and friends. Maybe it's the mirrors I broke as a kid.

I wasn't trying to get a job as honestly I don't know if I can hold a house right now, I was looking for support because I could get thrown out any day now and I was trying to get donations, but that didn't fare well so I backed off of that and just kind of turned this into a venting post, but I'm giving up now. I'm sorry for wasting everyone time. Thank you for the ones that cared enough to PM me....

You didn't waste anyone's time. We chose to click on your thread, we chose to respond to it. If it were such a waste of time, you wouldn't have been entertained. And don't give up on your ambitions so quickly. Okay, maybe give up here, but not in general.

So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?

I'm torn between a scrypt miner at about 1.9-2.5 MH, scrypt mining, I could easily get into alot of altcoins, and get into the booms quickly by mining bulk. For example if I would of had one a month ago, could of gotten alot of dogecoin and sold when it peaked.

Or a 200GH bitcoin miner, but I'm so convinced that difficulty is rising so quickly by the time I would be able to get it running (about a month from now if I work really hard to gather funds) It would be usless and not able to profit.

Or am I just being stupid? Do I have to spend 20k just to have a chance at mining?

a few of us rich investors and donaters do look for good causes. the only problem is that you do not seem to want to help yourself.

you say you earn under $300 a month = $75 a week = 10 hours or less per week.

you moan that you only make this amount yet you cannot be bothered to improve your circumstances

Quote
I wasn't trying to get a job in the begining

you say you were not looking for large donations, but i have to make this entirely clear to you right now:
rent, utility bills, food and transport to work average out as well over $1000 a month. currently you live with your mother, so you do not see the true costs of living on your own. and any small donation of pennies wont help you move out.

i suggest you get a job that is more then 2 hours a day for 5 days a week / or 2 days of 5 hours (whatever your circumstance is). and work more hours. this way for 1. your earning more 2.your not sat in your mothers basement depressing yourself for as much of the day as you currently are.

if you truly want out of your situation you need to do 5 hours a day minimum. even if you have school/college doing an evening job of 5pm to 10pm is possible. plus your not at home for those hours, which would be beneficial to your mental health. also when you do get a place of your own. being home alone can be boring, so working can give you the mental stimulation, social expereince and prevent boredom.

and lastly  if you moan that a job would leave you with no social life, then you personally do not have the true energy and desire to change your circumstances, and as such asking other people to waste their energy on you is hypocritical.

PS. i too was looking to see if there were any job offerings i could give you. but looking at the facts about your so called website design experience. im not now

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

I see your point, but you do not understand I am balancing as much of my time with school and my job as I can, I take 4-6 hour shifts whenever they're available, but I'm also taking an AP course along with 3 other classes. Most of my time is doing homework (It's what I'm doing right now) Sometime I'm up till 4am because I had to work and I have homework...please don't assume I don't try. Once I graduate if I could just build up 2k to put down to buy 60 days to earn more I would be happy. It's not that I'm not trying, I'm doing all I can, I don't want to be around my mother anymore, the anxiety she puts on me makes me so depressed and lethargic I can barley get anything done.
I have barely any social life...at all. My girlfriend can only see me at school and when she comes by where I work.

Thanks for that suggestion though, anything else you wanna suggest since I'm already working 5 hours. most of the time 6...

and thanks...If you just ignore the mockup portfolio and maybe give me a little bit of time to try to find my original work designs/tutorials.

P.S. : My mom is insane, she's stolen money from me before for drugs, wasn't even able to get it back due to her threatening to take my stuff, apparently in California there is a law where even when you're 17 and have a job and pay for things, they still belong to your guardian....so I have nothing. Even my bitcoins on my computer are hers because my laptop isn't mine...

I don't have time to get more hours....I'm already overstressed....So what would you suggest if I have to leave home with nothing???

Nah, I don't think you have to spend 20k to realize some gain with mining. But it's definitely too late to jump onto the bitcoin bandwagon, but lots of people fare well mining and trading alt coins. 2.5MH is still relatively low, but depending on what you mine and whether you decide actively trade, the potential to realize some gain isn't far fetched.

So I take it you haven't actually purchased any mining equipment yet?

So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?
I'm torn between a scrypt miner at about 1.9-2.5 MH, scrypt mining, I could easily get into alot of altcoins, and get into the booms quickly by mining bulk. For example if I would of had one a month ago, could of gotten alot of dogecoin and sold when it peaked.

Nope, been saving since January, I had enough at one point, but I kept pushing to save more for a better rig, then I lost a decent sum of it.
Oh well.....
