I haven't heard anything about sponsorship yet and it kicks off on Friday. Shall we just play for fun this season and if we manage to get a sponsor just play for that?

Some other pools started without sponsors as well, but with buy-ins.
I'd surely recommend that approach - otherwise if it's free to play 80% of the pool will give up after R10.

1mbtc at current prices seems cheap enough - how about that at least?

I agree, even though there is no sponsor but with a little encouragement at least 1mbtc can make the sustainability of pools run until the end.

But there must be some who are a little bit of difficulty so that the payment time may be a little added to join like 1 or 2 weeks especially with the current conditions where the first week will start in 3 days the preparation is a little tight so there must be some considerations for registration adjustments for those who want to follow.
Although the participants may not be as crowded as last season but I'm pretty sure these pools participants will still be there.

I think since the league starts tomorrow maybe we should just play for free with open sign-ups and maybe try get a sponsor if we can and winner takes all or just do top three or something. Maybe doing one season for free might be good promo to get more members for future pools since there's no barrier to entry. Alternatively, if the regulars just want to sort a smaller paid pool amongst themselves that's ok too.

Theoretically, the difference is: battle for respect vs. battle for prizes.
If a participant joins a pool where there are initially no prizes, he knows what he's getting into and will likely participate until the end. If he joins for the prizes, he'll drop out the moment his chances disappear.
Regarding the prize size, what difference does it make if, say, there are already 10 participants ahead of you and you know they'll play reliably? The only option left is to take a few big risks and, if you don't succeed, quit. That's the mechanics of SuperBru.

Many years of playing different pools and I can agree 100%. Less prizes is less motivation to continue if gap is too far.

And lets face it,,, most people here including myself we are not big users with respect to fight for, we are here for prizes. If we are not within reach, best I do is enter random picks, to try win freebets.

Otherwise why waste time?

Winner takes all is a bad format on an online forum. Office pool yes, easy, but even so it is boring to see only 2 people playing because the rest gave up. But nobody suffers there. Forum pool suffers if nobody gives a shit

I think we should do it for free,,, I was actually waiting for registration for this a long time so maybe even just set the registration to open until Week 2 of the matches.

I recommend any of the current regular pools manager to escrow, if you do not want to continue it yourself?

Not sure if you got a chance to read the DM I sent, but I suggest taking a look as there might be a workable solution in there.

I'm in favor of running the contest with an entry fee, whether we secure a sponsor or not. Most of us who participate are driven by the competition and the prize pool, I feel a free entry format might lose its edge and cause members to lose interest over time.

This contest has been a staple in our community and I'd love for it to stay as competitive as it has always been. Whatever the final decision is, count me in.,

Agree with all other guys - playing for fun isn't interesting. Many simply will stop playing eventually when they play for nothing. Winner takes all isn't right thing too - even if prize pot isn't big, more than 1 player should be rewarded. With winner takes you have very little chance to win something, it can discourage from playing. Top 5 or at least Top 3 should be awarded.
But damn, I can't believe that even such huge pool like EPL can't attract sponsor after Sportsbet exit. really sad thing...

The only reason I play is because PL pool was always really competitive so I still hope that we'll create a 1-2 mBTC buyin pool regardless of the sponsor.

La Liga gathered 15 or so, surely PL can get 25+.

I have love and hate relationship with Superbru but this is the OG pool so Im not letting this one down so Yes I will be commiting to pay the fee if we all decided to pool it in. 1mbtc would be a solid amount for this

No sponsorship agreed so I decided not to join. Pretty sad that we couldn’t find one. The supposed biggest and most competitive league in the world but no advertisement interest.

I would love if Sportsbet would return, but current situation that we have now how it's actually bad to depend on single sponsor mainly. There is so many gambling platforms who advertise themslves on Bitcointalk, it would be nice if some of them would step up. Not sure what's main reason why they're not doing it, but not everything is about numbers IMO. Supporting community driven projects helps to build significantly better image of your business in eyes of gamblers. If not backing one of these games, I wouldn't even looked at side of several gambling platforms.

Oh my god Spurs I might even have been prepared to lose but not without scoring at not by just giving this opponent of all 3 free goals. Yes we were not the favorites but I still had good hopes.

Many experiments has shown you do not turn the fortunes of a team around by spending more, you have to fix the culture at the club, get everyone on board and then make calculated signings. Look at clubs like Brighton, they have bought and sold players, hired and lost managers, but they still maintain their culture through it all and their position on the table.

Spurs has a lot to fix before they get back in and around the top half of the table. I like Di Zerbi and want to see him succeed enough to stay up and give us our customary 6 points.
