Hi all ,
I was wondering if there is any plan or marketing strategy in place to get this project to the people. There is a huge potential for this coin but I'm worried we are not doing enough and the community doesn't seem to grow but the opposite. I wouldn't mind helping with whatever I can but there needs to be someone driving it and calling the shots. We need more miners, investors and helpers in general as this is a very good opportunity to helping others and it would be a shame if this project fails to take off properly.
Please do let me know what you think, maybe I'm wrong and there is something happening in the background that I'm not aware.
Thx
Your thinking is good. There is no hype around this coin. But it is not necessary a bad thing. Because hype is a short living thing. In the future one can imagine CharityCoin in the top 5 crypto coins. This is long term. I think we don't even need hype. I'm buying and mining CHA for my pension ))

I have to agree that there is little hype about CHA. But it has not been for lack of effort as we have tried many avenues to make it visible to miners and investors. There is something odd about how there is no hype about this coin but I can't quite put my finger on it. We are still working on the background. We have been trying to place CharityCoin in a few more exchanges, We have been contacting people who could write about CHA in their blogs, we are preparing a giveaway, We found and are working with an animator who is making a video animation about CHA, etc. One thing we realized is that we do not have a big community yet. We tried to get in a few Exchanges through vote and there is not been many people voting at all. Do not be discouraged about the lack of hype at this point. I believe it will slowly pick up which will be much healthier to the coin anyway. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me through PM if you would like to take part of it. I believe you once mentioned you could translate the thread to Spanish. If you could do so, it would be great. I also want to mention that we contacted the Mayhew charity as you suggested.

CharityMiningPools - Donate to Charity while you Mine! cha.charityminingpools.comCome mine while making a difference. Since we are already donating to charity via the coin, no additional charitable donation will be required through our pool. Usually we have a mandatory 0.5% donation fee goes to a charitable recipient each month. SSL, STRATUM, VARDIFF, Datacenter Redundant Server Farm, Load Balanced Servers, Frequent Backups PROMOTION = 0% Lifetime CharityCoin Pool Fees for the first 50 miners who sign up and start mining, usually 1% FeesWho Are We?CharityMiningPools was created to allow miners the ability to mine coins while still knowing that their hashing power is going towards something good. Our goal is to provide a positive and reliable service while delivering a small portion of the proceeds to a deserving recipient. Plans are in the works to allow individual miners to choose where they would like to donate to based on a pool of available recipients. How Does This Work? All coins minded at CharityMiningPools usually require a mandatory 0.5% Donation fee. This donation fee will be collected and donated to the designated charitable recipient for that given month. Since we are already donating a portion of the coins mined via the coin scrypt, no mandatory donation fee is required. Cheers! CharityMiningPools

It is great to have the support of Jeffrey Tucker! Our Dev, Matt Mitchell, had a conversation with Jeffrey and found out that he supports our work and even shared CharityCoin through his network. Well done for securing some support from a heavy weight in the cryptocurrency scene! " In the future, if all goes well, political ideologies and cultural values will be played out not through political democracy but through currency competition. Each alt seems to have a niche. http://www.charitycoinfoundation.org/charities/" Jeffrey Tucker

is this the first coin for charity ? i saw many charitable coins these days!
This is the second coin that I came across to be centered around charity. It is the first to implement block rewards to charity. But yeah.. I think it's funny how every new coin claims to be the first nonprofit coin in some cheap PR scheme.

I think you guys are doing a good job building a stable base for the coin that isn't built on hype. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Thanks Voxelot We notice there's been a few more coins with charity reasons. They are all very welcome but I see the problem with people making claims about being the first one. At first we chose that slogan because we really thought we were the first coin with charity as a main goal, but then we learnt about Social coin and we discussed about dropping the claim. So it was going to happen anyway as we do not want to make false claims. Cryptocurrency is on a very fast pace right now so it could be that these new devs don't know about SocialCoin or CharityCoin. We really hope they succeed in reaching their honorable goals of helping people in need. Thanks for offering your help! Feel free to send us a pm when you have some free time. We need as much support as possible!

I think it is possible to find a better slogan.
For example: Get rich while helping others.
Or something similar...

Or it can be like this: "The first coin that is not based on a hype" ))) Just joking. But the new "Supporting charities one coin at a time" is a bad choice. It sounds generic and banal. It doesn't communicate anything. The slogan should communicate the essence of the coin. And the essence (the scheme) here is: 1. You mine, you buy/sell = You make money & 2. by doing these activities you help people that are in need. This scheme should become a one presentable sentence. A possible solution: "The richer you become, the more you help others." This slogan communicates 1. that with CharityCoin you can become rich (this needs to be emphasized, otherwise people won't come), 2. when you get richer, others become richer too. I think you get the idea. There is a need to play with words. I'm not a native English speaker.

Everything is really good with this coin. But the marketing side is lacking. There is no need for aggressive marketing. Maybe just a shift in "positioning" can fix a lot of things... And the overall communication tone - it needs more passion I think you can borrow some useful ideas from established worldwide charities. And if a smart marketing specialist could join a team... that would be great.

IMPORTANT SECURITY ANNOUNCEMENT
Charitycoin is affected by the recent OpenSSL vulnerability: CVE-2014-0160
If you have used TLS (SSL) RPC connections, an attacker may have gained access to your wallet. If you have not used TLS connections, your wallet is safe. If affected you should create a new wallet and transfer funds to this new wallet, and you should not use TLS connections until an update is made available to the wallet.
It should be obvious if you have ever used TLS RPC connections and most people will not be affected. If unsure, you are almost certainly safe.
HashAxe will be down for security maintenance today as this vulnerability also effects nearly all web servers. I will keep people informed.
Notice that during this time, it is possible (though unlikely) that the SSL certificate on hashaxe has been compromised.

I cannot find these markets on your exchange. THese links all fail back to BTC_LTC trading, and the coin still shows in voting, so you might want to check into that.
