I don't know why would anyone pay $100k for his shilling in the first place, I never thought of him as a reputable guy, I would be cautious buying in into his projects. He made his $1M or balls prediction only to become more recognizable in the crypto space, it is not backed by anything. Nobody would talk about him if there were no absurd predictions.

It's still good marketing if you think that he has millions of followers and quite many who follow his recommendations, I think McAfee calculated himself that it costs his clients 17cents to reach out to his followers so it's not such a bad deal

I think there will be so many investors and traders need to find out new way to get news about cryptocurrency when John McAfee decided to stop promoting for ICO project cause as I know there are so many guys still follow all ICO projects and cryptocurrencies that John McAfee Tweet about on Twitter

This is what happen when greed controls you, so many baseless advertisement and speculation coming from this guy and now he is facing consequences for that move. I hope SEC will continue to make threat to anyone who will hype the market again and in the end it turns to a scam.

It's not clear why he is treated so badly. A man did business, earned money, promote projects. Yes, not very successfully, and someone was losing money, but he did not force anyone to invest. For example, I, do not care what he advertises. I think that in people says envy. How much should cost his tweet ? 50 dollars? If you want to invest, think by your own head, to not blame somebody else after.

SEC knows something better to protect people from scams so that can be related to it but still there's no exact words on what it really is.

Whatever the real reason, it is better for investors that he will not pump any bad ICOs for money. Many of his past recommended ICOs have performed very bad so best to do your own research that trust someone's word.
