./minerd -a keccak -o http://pool:port -u username -p password

So im extremely new to mining, I have everthing set up and ready to go but I dont understand what the username and password is. Where do I find out this information? Sorry such a noob question Sad

There are no pools yet. Once they are announced you can register at the pool and create the username and password for a 'worker'.

what password are they talking about releasing at launch? Password for what? and what do I do with it once they give me the password?

You can download the wallets, but the files are password protected. They will release the password in 15 mins so people can open the wallets and create addresses, so the mining can begin.

This is going to sound insanely dumb....but how do I install the wallet? I mean on the Linux web server cloud computer thingy I just made  Grin

Guide updated with another section: How to Solo Mine MAX in the Clouds

Where please ?

This thread, first post. Wink

Ha, there it is!

Is that going to spew out billions of coins because it's at the bottom of the difficulty curve ?
Or is it not going to make much difference if I wait for a pool ?

am i in trouble?

Just delete your ~/.ssh/known_hosts

There is a method for losing just the one key but that will forget all. Try again and it'll work.

The wallet should on your computer if you're pool mining not in the cloud. You can download it here: http://maxcoin.co.uk. You need the wallet to create a maxcoin address so you can receive the coins from your pool mining efforts.

If you're solo mining in the cloud you will have the wallet file on the server.

The github connection asks for authentication!

Code:
fork@instacash:~/xxxx# git clone https://github.com/Max-Coin/cpuminer
Cloning into 'cpuminer'...
remote: Counting objects: 81, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (74/74), done.
remote: Total 81 (delta 7), reused 78 (delta 4)
Unpacking objects: 100% (81/81), done.
Checking connectivity... done

I've done this :s

Your error message states that your C compiler is not working, so there must be a dependency issue.

Thank you, although I didn't say that Smiley

I have compiled well in Linux, but I was trying to compile in Windows for convenience and couldn't get an output. Would be much easier if there was an apt-get in win command prompt... I was asking it case that compiling issue in Windows was common.

Unfortunately don't have c card to get started with DigitalOcean... Shame you have to support the Banksters to get started!

 Huh Huh

Is it not amazing? That in the sub-micro world of the atom, quantum physics requires the perpetual motion of particles with both spin and orbital motions.

Yet in the macro world, mainstream science is based upon the law that a perpetual motion machine is absolutely impossible!

This is the embarrassing state of today's science...
