OP includes members to the list according to the "Generosity" parameter which is calculated by formula:

I will add them to the full list of merit sources if the analysis detects them calculating their indicator "Generosity".

The analysis has detected d5000 as a merit source, so I added this user to the list of known merit sources.

I can't find myself in the OP, can it really be right? I'm not completely sure so figured I should at least ask first.

OP includes members to the list according to the "Generosity" parameter which is calculated by formula:

Therefore, your "Generosity" = 496 - ceil(813/2) = 496 - 407 = 89, which is not enough to get into the list.

is my userID invisible in whatever data you use to conduct these results ? , i read the op trying to find any special criteria which i don't fit into,i couldn't find any reason why am i not being listed in the most generous merit senders despite the fact that I sent hundreds of them so far

Algorithms are sometimes wrong Maybe there is a some mistake on Coin-1's detection, just like Coolcryptovator he is one of the Sources now as he said it himself but the algo hasn't detected his presence.
Is there anything I can do to deny the claim

I’ve just checked it on the Merit Dashboard and @Quickseller (as of last Friday) had earned 552 non-airdropped Merits, while having sent 488 sMerits. The 552 earned merits would account for 276 sent sMerits out of the 488 sent sMerits. The remaining 212 sent sMerits could be part of the initial sMerit airdrop (or not):
 
Since Legendries could have received up to 400 sMerits depending on their activity (see re:Initial sMerit for every rank?), those 212 sent sMerits may have come from the initial sMerit airdrop, from being a Merit Source, or a combination of both. Just by looking at the numbers I don’t think we can determine that he is a Merit Source yet.

You can assert that someone is a Merit Source of the total amount or sent sMerits > (Received floor(sMerits/2) + Max potential airdropped sMerit for the rank), but just before this value there is a grey area due to not knowing the exact amount of airdropped sMerits.


Many appointed Merit Sources tend to have small allowances to start-off with. They also are often people that earn merits (thus generating sMerits), so during the first months, the awarded sMerits from the Merit Source allocation may not exceed the generated/unspent sMerits, and thus remain undetected (as is the case of @Coolcryptovator I presume).

While specific formula is not given, theymos wrote that the initial sMerit is not solely determined by rank, but determined by rank and activity points obtained in the last year.

The exact formula was:

Yep, 200 was the max for legendaries. AFAICT the formula is lacking a division by 2 since values for the other ranks are double of the actual amounts as well.

I believe that the maximum that any Legendaries could have received on the initial airdrop would have been 200, so Quickseller has spent an excess of 12 merits which would explain why he has been detected as a merit source.

By the way, it does appear that as of last week, theymos added an additional 7 merit sources (raising the total merit sources from 123 to 130)

I believe he actually added 8 new merit sources because one was removed.

     Oh boy, if this is true, this is going to cause a good deal of controversy. I guess theymos wants the dark side to have a hand in who gets merit as well.  We will see how this goes over. Making sure to put popcorn on my grocery list.

You are mistaken my friend. Merit spent when you have available source merit comes from your source merit balance, not your sMerit balance. As such, I have some available sMerit that remains unspent.

I am not sure if most merit sources spend more than their source merit each month, but if not, I would imagine many merit sources have considerable sMerit if they earn a decent amount of merit. The way things are looking, I will run out of both source merit and sMerit before the end of the month, but I plan on addressing this by earning more merit.

The total amount of sMerit transfered is very close to the total amount that sources have to spend. So not all sources empty theirs.

Yes, also the amount of merit available for sources are different.

Some source can have 200+ merits to send others can have 15+, it's easier to spend 15 merits than 200+.

I do understand that from time to time, theymos might change the monthly quantity of smerits that any source receives, but I did not imagine that such monthly allotment would have gone as low as 15 smerits per month. 

Of course, I understand that theymos can do whatever he wants in terms of quantity of source smerits, and I doubt the algorithm would require him to have any number higher than 1 source smerits per month, if he were to so chose, and perhaps some low number merit sources, like 15 source smerits per month, would be either a way of trying someone out or an attempt to get smerits distributed more widely.  I would have imagined that in real practice the real lowest of any source is in the 50 source smerits per month territory... but i don't know any specific examples that are lower than 50 (it is hard to prove a negative), so if anyone knows of any actual examples of a source (without necessarily naming names) who has lower than 50 source smerits per month, then, to me, that would be an interesting revelation of an actual case.   

By the way, the monthly quantity of any smerit source would be difficult to determine, by inference on the lower end, because the source might not be spending all of the source smerit allotment, yet on the upper end, it would be a bit more easily determined, especially if the smerit source is spending a high quantity of smerits that go beyond his/her initial allotments and what s/he is gaining through regular received merits from other members.
