Generally, yeah most in the top percentage will be merit sources, since they have additional merits to spend from their merit source. Unless, you're earning a lot of merit, it would be hard to compete against them. Although, I've also noticed that merit sources tend to get a lot of merit sent to them too, putting them well beyond a normal uses spending capability.

If every merit you get makes you more motivated to do better, then I'm sure your merit per post ratio will improve in the next few months. Even though you have a 6.09 ratio, that means on average you get 1 merit for every 6 posts you make.

You can still increase the merit ratio per post. There are lots of tips that have been shared on forum and are very helpful, but if you want to get started, then start now. This is just a friendly reminder for you.

It's pretty easy to determine who's a merit source by just looking at how much they realistically have to send, and whether they're hitting that limit or getting close to it. Usually, the generosity statistic is a good indicator of this, when tied in with the rest.

Another way to attempt to figure out who might well be the merit sources is that Coin-1 bolds them in the OP and in the monthly updates.

Yes, I write the names of such members in bold. There are 128 users on the full list of detected merit sources. From my understanding, this list is still valid and up to present date, but in fact only 111 of them are currently appointed to the honorary status.

Ayyy!!  I like seeing this thread updated, but I often miss it because it doesn't generate much discussion and quickly gets buried after Coin-1 posts new monthly data.  Now it's bookmarked, problem solved.

But the reason I bumped this thread is that I upped my position in the past two months from my general average, which I was hoping would be the case but was prepared for it not to be.  So I'm not tooting my own rusty horn here, just taking note of the fact and thanking OP for keeping the thread updated.

More members have been taking me up on my offer of post history reviews, so I think that could account for my move higher in the generosity list.  That offer is still open, by the way.

You are correct you upped your position from your average, but May was better than June you dropped a little bit in June compared to May, so you can do better what do you think about your position for July, not out yet . Seriously now though, The Pharmacist i thought you would be higher in the rankings than the position i see you in this thread, because i see you do a great job gesture as a merit source meriting many posts and helping members to get up in ranks, other merit sources do the same thing, but i notice yours most. Thumbs up to you, other merit sources and op for this topic too.

To note a curiosity, I see that JayJuanGee would be number 1 in terms of transactions or number of times he gives merits, as I think most of the time he gives 1. In other cases the total merits are higher but with less transactions.

Apart from that, I would not be surprised if in the August update fillippone was number 1 in terms of total merits distributed, as he distributed quite a few in the reputation section for a topic that touched him.

Yes, JJG jas the habit of meriting 1 merit per TX, which requires him a deep commitment to researching the forum for material to merit.
And he's very good at it, I must say.

Yes you would find him usually giving out 1 merits per TX and he is active on WO, Economics and Bitcoin discussion board mainly and yes it requires through post analysis on the forum to have such distinctive smerit spread and he's doing it from long time.

You would see he has sent 846 merits in past 30 days whereas you have send 1148 merits so there is difference of 302 merits but his TX would be more then you keeping in mind he is sending 1-2 at the most while you have been going till the limit of 50 also to single member in last thread so yes there is difference between merit policies of merit sources in the forum.

Exceptional cases apart, I am used to sending 3 merits per tx, while he keeps sending 1 per TX.

Yeah but mine truly is not even human. He is not competing on a level playing field so I don't know if I would seriously consider him for the number 1 human spot.

That's the point, I think you're right. Merit source is easy to spend the sMerit they have because they will get a refill the following month. They can maintain that pattern in the long term if they want to stay consistent at it. For non-merit source users like me, they just have to try to get merit from quality posts so that the patterns in our history look chaotic. Lol

Some non- merit source people also have good patterns in their history of merit and I truly believe that they are potential users who will be merit source in the future. To be honest, during the last 4 months I rarely get merit, but I don't know I don't really care about it even though I actually want to compete with some other users about merit.
