On a more serious note, everyone has his own way. In the case of DdmrDdmr he uses leverage, so to speak. JayJuanGee spends a lot of time on the forum and gives out merits manually each time. Sometimes I have found that he has given me a merit for an old comment on page like 3 of a thread, as well as other people for posts on the thread, which makes me think he had gone through all the pages of the thread, giving merits one by one to posts he finds constructive.

One more thing about JayJuanGee is his habit of writing detail reply, everytime he write. Recently I wrote a reply about LN and JayJuanGee corrected me with his detailed reply. He always writes like that. This really helps new people like me in understanding core crypto concepts.

Yeah all the merit sources have different patterns for sending smerits on the forum and you can have an idea about it through their sending habits but the main part is helping others to rank up but to those who deserves it and all the top members in those list are doing it quite well.

I also respect JJG and my first WO merit was from his side only and then the streak continued so respect all of them.

JJG is indeed the person who has sent most sMerit TXs, with 21.509 TXs sent and an average of 1,07 sMerits per TX. The runner-up to date is yours truly, having sent 18.020 TXs with an average of 1,22 sMerits per TX.

He is the merit machine and you can't compete with his lightning speed of giving out merits and usually he is the one who from you get merit if you start a useful thread and that also across different boards like 1-2 and then re-merting those posts after few time within seconds.So he is not human ofcourse in these matters.

I think this is almost perfectly accurate. I’m a simple man after all. My pattern shouldn’t be too difficult to predict.
I might deviate from it only during merit spree, or, as you recently saw, when I want to signal particular appreciation.

Normally all humans tend to have behavioral patterns. It can vary from case to case and situation to situation, but normally we all have patterns of behavior. They may be patterns that are easier to detect than others.

It depends. If you however become a source of merit, you will be able to give more merits and in turn rise in the rankings.
Now, for those who are not a source of merit, it is difficult to climb this list, as there will always be fewer merits to distribute.

Yeah, if you take a look at my merit-giving history you'll often find that I'm meriting one member up to the limit of 50, and that's usually because someone has taken me up on my offer to do a post history review.  It'd be much, much easier if I were to simply give all 50 merits to a single post instead of spreading it out the way I do....but then I'm sure people would get suspicious or bitch about how "that post didn't deserve 50 merits!!" and such.

Thankfully the members who have reached out to me for post history reviews aren't shitposters and there's only been one or two times where I've had to tell someone to really step up their effort before I'd give them any merits.  Back when actmyname and a couple of other members had threads where members could basically ask for merits for posts they'd made, many of them were straight-up shitposters.  *Whew*  That was a long time ago, now that I think about it.

I probably should start giving out a higher number of merits per transaction, because I'm not running into the problem of being short of sMerits anymore, and I've accumulated enough earned ones that I could probably give 4-5 merits for an average post instead of 2-3.  Nobody would object to that, right?

When in doubt, read theymos' post:

Lol....lol....lol.   Sure, if I could have remembered that Theymos had said something so concise and relevant to the statement I made back in 2018, I would have gladly read his post.  

What is in your skull, my man?  I think you have like 100x more neurons than the average bitcointalker (and that would mean about 1000x more than me).  Props to you, brainy-brain.  Perhaps I will take the easier path and just dump 50 merits at a clip if I see a decent month's worth of posts.  If anybody has any objections, please keep them to yourself--or go complain to Theymos.  I am sure you'll get a prompt and satisfactory response.

Wow, never thought I'd see a monthly result where I took the top spot--I even made a post to that effect over a year ago:

I will never take the first position, no matter how much merit I distribute.

And I don't think I'll get above #6 unless some merit sources above me drop out. 

I know why it happened, though.  For as many times as I've made the offer to review members' posts, it was only when I created that thread with rules regarding said offer that my inbox caught fire.  I blew through all of my source and earned sMerits in no time (and I was happy to do so).

Next month I'm sure I'll be down the list, however.  Theymos hasn't upped my monthly sMerit allocation, so I kind of blew my wad all in one shot.  That second part of that last sentence was redundant, sorry.

I have updated the main table and chart on the first page of this thread.

Currently, 1.28 M merits have already been sent in 691 K transactions to 44 K distinct profiles.

Finally, I posted the statistics for the last two months at the same time. DdmrDdmr is the leader of this TOP-200 in July. The Pharmacist took first place in August. Congratulations on your new and maximum ATH!


I recently looked at the Merit Stats and noticed that the number of merit sources has decreased by 1 and is now 110 instead of 111.

I'm curious which of the merit sources was excluded from the list?

Ayyy!!  I like seeing this thread updated, but I often miss it because it doesn't generate much discussion and quickly gets buried after Coin-1 posts new monthly data.  Now it's bookmarked, problem solved.

Normally I would think so as well, but oddly enough it wasn't last month.  I know the reason, and I've said it a few times already: I got way more requests to review post histories than I usually do, and more than a few of them were good writers with a lot of posts, so it was easy to blow through every single sMerit I had.

If I were to try to hit that 1600+ number just by meriting the posts I read, I'd fail miserably.

You'd be doing me a huge favor if you made the same offer, believe me.  I don't mind all the requests I've gotten, it's just that my sMerit supply can't keep up with the demand, no matter how much I beg Theymos to increase it.  If another merit source dropped out as Coin-1 wrote, you'd think he might consider my request--but if not that, then I hope he adds another source. 

We've got members like LogitechMouse, who's been around since 2017 and obviously puts a lot of effort into his posts, stuck at Sr. Member because he's not earning enough merits.  If anyone is so inclined, I'd encourage them to browse his post history and give him a few merits.

If i can make a suggestion to you fillippone, you can ask the members to request a review of their post history on the thread you will create in meta. Since you do not want your inbox to be filled with messages, and your email to be filled with PM notification, maybe you can just keep everything in the thread you will create and attend to them there in your own time, if it is too much at a time you can even lock the thread, attend to the requests you feel are worthy, reopen it again for more requests. And needless to say that you will also add your own rules to it, that will help you to filter the requests fast in the thread. Something like this, but of course with your own style and pattern.
