Merit system is currently making it difficult for beginners to rise higher rankings, you need to post quality posts dsn build for biss get the merit. If you get 10 merit you will be eligible for member rank. The only way is you should active in this forum and post must be useful for others need. surely many of them reward your post. This merit system is useful to identify the spam users so you should activily post in meta or serious discussion. You will get more merits in short period.

How much merit one person can give to another? Does it depends on the rank as well?

I Think BitcoinTalk devs did quite a nice job bringing Merit System to the Community!
IT stopped Spammers from getting higher Ranks aand Spam more often!
Now ONLY the qualified Person with Quality Post/Content Gets Higher Ranks.
I myself know that i will never make it to Legendary Rank  (or evem Member Rank )
And i'm OK with it!

Its definetely been a good update in terms of not letting spammers reach high ranks, but made it very hard for people with a low rank to get a promotion.
I dont even care about legendary, just get to the Member would be awesome.

I suggest forget about merit because if your post is useful though, not necessarily someone give merit to you.
and to the extent that your rank will continue to remain that way until it is not in the running of this merit system.

If you are mostly interested in bounty and active here I can advice you to start thread about best bounty compaing.

As you can see a lot users send to topic starter some merits. Because this is usefull information.
But I warn you don't just copy info from that thread. Try to do something by yourself.

how about newbies to jr. member?  are newbies required to earn some merit to attain jr. member rank?

i feel there's a need to change the merit system.  we can make merits=20 activities or any equivalent.  then add up the old activity + merits = new activity.  when we reach certain points, we get to level up.  this way, those who earn merits will level up faster (reward for posting very good and helpful posts), while those who doesn't receive merits will level up after a long while.  this will ensure those who doesn't receive merits also level up but at a much slower phase.

you need to write positive , contructive, and effective ideas posts to get merits. people  has to appreciate your post which is helpful and gained others informative ideas/knowledge.

You need 10 merit and have 60 post to get Member, 100 merit to get up to Full member and 250 merit to get up to Senior.

You can do some translate from another languages to yours and it should have high quality or you can collect some useful website. For example you can share ico pages or useful bounty pages

When bitcointalk introduced the Merit, I was left with just a little bit before raising the rank to the Full Member. And remained a Member. And Merit does not increase. Write interesting posts to upgrade to a higher rank
