I'm curious: did any of the scammed investors report this to the police or similar?
My feeling is that a lot of people think "because this is the internet - and because it is about cryptos - there are no laws". But that's clearly wrong.
If there has been fraud, and more importantly if there is a way to trace the fraudster (e.g. google-email + IP address, website registration, other patterns of usage) then it should be possible to hand this over to a prosecutor. I'm not sure if they'd be interested to do sth about it as the amount defrauded is "only" 30k$. Maybe if you collected material and information about the fraud yourself and presented it on a silver tablet.
Fraud is illegal in most countries, so it would not even help to "hide" in another country if the evidence is clear.
The added benefit of going after such people would be that it sends a clear signal and maybe prevents further scams.
LOL, have you even imagined it happening? You do realize that crypto IPO is not a "legal" chunk of a company like a real world IPO right? One buys a bunch of unicorn horns for 1000 USD and decide to pay a leprechaun 2 unicorn horns in exchange for 2% of his gold stash. If I don't get the 2%, its not exactly a fraud you see. Its the same for promised hugs and kisses

Reading through this, I can't believe no one asked the dev for one simple thing - A video of their magic wallet with trading. That thing looks so photoshopped... a video would have been really hard to fake...

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Video is not all that hard to fake. One can do wonders with a basic understanding of After Effects. Look at Edgecoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=540017.new;topicseen#newThey're promising the world... Everything stackcoin was promising, plus marketplace, wallet trading, game development etc etc. I think its the same team behind stackcoin, coming back for a sequel

Do you know how difficult it would be to animate all that while keeping it ultra realistic?

Do you know how difficult it would be to animate all that while keeping it ultra realistic? I did touch After effects actually.... I specialize in Video Editing and know a decent amount of after effects and Photoshop. Its not all that hard to make an "ultra realistic" 15fps desktop screen capture, especially when there is a lot of money to be made with an IPO. Now making something realistic by composting over actual live video.... ya, that's a lil tricky and does take some advanced skill. Again, I do not doubt the wallet is fake. I only said its easy to fake a screen capture video. What I doubt about you is whether the promised features are going to be implemented or not. Its fishy that you do not involve an escrow when it comes to that main thing... and conveniently go with a "this is how all IPOs are done" answer, like as if that is some sort of safe template. Anyway, from the money I see you have raked in, i'm convinced there's just too much stupid people out there for logic and reasoning to work. I'll just have to wait this dilution out till the burnt wisen up

why would somebody use photoshop? there is visual studio open, probably a wpf application. with a nice library like telerik or devexpress wpf controls that screenshots are much faster to do than by using photoshop. and the dev could even spend an hour more and feed some dummy data into it to present a video of a working application.

This brought back old memories. Amazing how a scam of BTC69.5 was considered a big deal back then, and now something like this is happening regularly, only with much larger amounts.

That is long time ago. I don't even remember what exactly happened. BTC69.5 was not worth that much years ago, but it is worth more than half a million today.
