don't try and understand... just grab some up and chill. That's what i ended up doing and feel much better now.

Have you never noticed a lot of the most successful things in life have no real reason to be so successful?

I see it just going up as the rewards are cut back. Their community is huge, a lot of young persons also, that means energy and contagion.

People anticipating the halving.

Market is now too big to be moved by a few people now.

Same as any currency... people believing it has value gives it value.

What kicked it off so well for doge? I'm not sure... the good community maybe? Maybe because lots of people were giving so much away at the start? Media attention? Combo of lots of stuff probably got the ball rolling imo   Smiley

Why are Harley Davidsons selling so much? I mean there are better Bikes that are cheaper and way more reliable. Marketing and Volume, sometimes it just doesn't make sense, innovation is only part of the story.

I feel many people that get into cryptocurrency have little experience in how economics work. You can't fall in love with a coin because of its name, i.e. worldcoin fail, or its picture on the coin. Currency of any kind only exists when there is a community that perceives value in a medium of exchange. If 10 people were trapped on an island with 20 rocks, the community of 10 people could decide that those 20 rocks have value and therefore can be used as a medium of exchange for goods or services. Faith in currency and community is what drives value. Fact.

The price is being pumped, happens with all coins. Whether the price holds or not when the coin halves the max payout is yet to be seen. If it follows trend then will probably drop by end of next week, ready to be pumped again lol.

A crypto is nothing without a good community. Dogecoin now has 60k subscribers on reddit and growing with almost 1000 each day. Keep in mind that the average person doesn't care about how the algorithm of a crypto works, I would never be able to make my gf invest in bitcoin, but had no problem convincing her to buy dogecoin

People anticipating the halving.

Market is now too big to be moved by a few people now.

It doesn't really matter to me, if the coin is halving or not, and
the rate of time it halves may be too fast.

I am saying the current prices are too high. Justify those prices to me, and show me why dogecoin might

be a buy at current prices. ( its not justified simply because it is 'halving' from my perspective )

Nothing every rises in price for NO REASON. There are very good reasons DOGE has multiplied by 10X in the past 30 days. If you had the same insights as these so called millionaires then you would have bought when it was at 29 satoshi instead of 290 today. If you also understand why it has exploded then you would probably buy into Doge even now on the dips.

So here it is:

1. Doge had something at 29 Satoshi that Bitcoin and Litecoin have never valued much or created for themselves. That is an identifiable community outside of GEEKY Crypto community.
2. Dogecoin is a BRAND not a cryptocoin.
3. You may not understand #1 or #2 but they are both so earth shatteringly differentiating that Dogecoin has FAR more potential to penetrate mainstream economies that stupid crypto geekery.

So do yourself a favor, stop comparing Dogecoin technology with Litecoin, Bitcoin, Vertcoin or anything. YOU ARE DOOMED if you think technology is going to make any crypto currency mainstream. If you think you can't see mainstream adoption coming from a long ways away, then that is your fault.

I remember back in January(?) someone said in reddit (?) dogecoin will have a big price jump in February. That was said with a very sure tone and without further explanation.

Now we have the BTC Bitstamp DDoS attack and bitcoin big price drop.
And the attacker did not take any bitcoin.

So on the surface, the anonymous attacker did not benefit at all doing this attack.

But we have this big dogecoin price jump now.

So I will give a feasible reason to help op understand his puzzling:

"these two incidents -- bitstamp DDoS attack and dogcoin price increase -- are correlated with each other".

So the suspicion is:  bitstamp DDoS attacker had big stake in dogecoin and thus wanted to demote bitcoin and promote dogecoin.

This will also be a good starting point if someone wants to investigate this further.

This was said because of the blocks halving, payout after halving will be anything from 1 doge to 500k

only if bitstamp ddos started in the middle of January... your analysis boggles my mind...

Technology has nothing to do with this. But dogecoin now has one of the largest communities out there and they are all ardent, almost fanatical supporters/promoters of the coin. Don't think this is done going up.
