We need to be more careful with security. It's all our own fault. Keep the secret key in many places. Don't keep a lot of money in the account.

I sometimes dont get it when people say they have lost some tokens when using MEW. The people themselves will always advice you to use my metamask, just that people will not often listen. Moreover, there are a lot of dangerous extensions that can expose you to hackers.

Having read that, I had no idea why people would choose to use their MEW after putting on their VPN. This looks dangerous to me. but this news has not stopped me from using MEW. Just that I need to be more security conscious.

I rarely use Mew nowadays.. And I am kinda scared of using it because I don't want to get hacked. So I use Imtoken most times although I still need Mew to stake my accelerator token.

Yes, I have to use it, and somehow I do not really care about this issue. But if the whole service is hacked, it's very bad for reputation

Another day, another hack.  Basically My Ether Wallet was hacked via the chrome extension hola.  At this point it isn't known how many users have been affected or how many tokens have been lost.

https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/07/10/mew-hack-hola/

So my question to you is will you still use MEW?  Do you think it is their responsibility what happened?  The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one?  I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.

mew is really good and essential to use by some users. But soon enough i will try metamask, they say that this is also a good way to earn and save money. keep it safe in metamask then there is no problem on your savings.

No problem, if you are fully aware of such attacks and you are updated you can just move your funds quickly if something goes wrong.

But having a back up wallet where you are storing most of your crypto's like nano ledger s is the best thing to do. I know many are comfortable of using MEW so you can't just leave it because it's easy to access and send/receive your tokens to exchange.

You can't really blame MEW for the hack on your account, I'm sure the chrome extension you're using is the reason it was hacked. Personally I've learnt not to trust third party security solutions, don't unlock your account through any of them and you will be safe.

I'm sure I will still use the"mew" in the future. I trust "mew'"s developer squad. "mew" has the potent squad. They have a lot of wallet access methods, and security is always their priority. They have a lot of wallet access methods, and security is always their priority.

I still use Mew but not all the time. I moved to Imtoken some time back. Imtoken might not be the best but It's secure to some extent. With exchanges getting hacked and wallet providers suffering from data breaches resulting to loss of users fund. I'll be getting a Ledger wallet soon. It took me time to get to where I am. I wouldn't want to start all over again. And It's better to be safe than sorry. I haven't been using mew often mainly because of the ever declining market and I'm hodling.

Yes i will still use MEW in the first place, Compare to other wallet that are very easy to compromise. With alot of ICO engaging in Ethereum Smart contract they need a high security level of verification to protect the funds of investors.

Well sometimes I still use MEW to make transactions because I think it's still safe to do so do not be afraid if we all know how the state of the device we use to access MEW address, therefore the health of our devices is very important to eliminate the worst happens to the important account we have because the hacker is very much now and can haunt us anytime.

First thing first, I dont think its MEW's fault, the hola extension is not in control to MEW.
Now, to secure your tokens its always better to buy a hardware wallet, eventually all web extensions are in a way vulnerable and always posses a risk of theft of private keys.

Basically, even with metamask, your private keys are stored in your browser (chrome/firefox).

Alternatively, its always safe to use MEW if you use it offline. People should learn and understand the safest way to use technology and minimize the risk of getting hacked.

Well most uses mew because of easy to use than any other wallet. Yes actually it is just needs of securing of the wallet for not being hacked by others. So we have to keep it safe.

Because we need to take using of My Ether Wallet seriously. Affected only those who used the application. Question. Why use extraneous applications for the wallet? This is not serious attitude.

I think my etherwallet is a safe place to store coins as long as you keep private key safely and do not tell others it's untrustworthy and until now I still use my etherwallet and I feel safe and comfortable

I don't think MEW is to be blamed in this case. As many that had not installed any hola were free from this attack. We are responsible for our own security. Maybe, it is a warning as to which sources we trust.
