It (obviously) depends on the cryptocurrency in question. If you are convinced that a coin will appreciate in value over time, why would you risk day trading it? If you day trade, the short term fluctuations could ruin your profit if you don't know what you are doing. Even the most experienced traders suffer loses from time to time. Day trading is very close to gambling, especially if you don't know how to manage risks.
It is even more true if we are talking about the current market situation. Bitcoin has lost some value compared to the beginning of this year, but still IMO it's the perfect cryptocurrency to hold long time.

It depends on you. As @butka said, day trading is like gambling and I agree with his/her opinion. I tried day trading too and I almost lost all of my money in it because I end up losing some of my money because of a huge dump of the coin. In this present market situation, I think its better if you will hold some coins for a long time and at the same time do some trading but not day trading. Maybe swing trading if you like it depends on you. Now that I lost most of my money in day trading, I often hold some coins and at the same time buying coins for the long term. |

depends on you, but i prefer buy and hold. actually the market is down for the Bancor hacking issue. so its good time to invest in altcoin and just hold those coin. I strongly believe after a few months crypto market volume would raised again and we can gain a lot of profit from our holding coin. so i would tell you, buy and hold for a few months. you can gain a great from your holding. |

I do day trading Bitcoin. But also I do trade for long-term only on altcoins. I just buy a ton of them and wait it out if they pump and I do try to separate them so that I will not lose all of them. |

You can`t compare day trading with holding.It`s like comparing apples with bananas.
If you don`t have any trading skills and knowledge and you don`t want to take more risk,obviously you have to choose holding.If you have trading skills and you can afford to lose some money,but get profits in the end then day trading is the right choice.

Holding cryptocurrency for a long time I bet is the best option for better rewards in the future.Again as what I've mention in my previous posts,hacking on exchanges is the main reason why market price is down again.Day trading in this kind of market trends is not profitable since value of coins are gradually decreasing.It takes time before market price recovers so for now just hold on to your coins and pause for a meanwhile if you are a day trader to avoid big loses.

there are many the same topic you creat.but i chosen hold for long time crypto market,before you hold coin you have to research about it,now i like eth and I think eth will replace btc in the future,now i buy eth with this price,each week i buy a little eth and i collect eth,i hope eth can reach 2000 usd in next year

I guess holding would be far greater than daily trading. The market itself is volatile but when it comes to the extra added volatility like the current one the it becomes real danger for us to make any valid trade. You never know where there is call or put on your trade within the night time span. I guess you should be choosing to hold those coins at least which are the major one and trade those who are already in the swing mode. Its not that difficult to achieve the holding with your patience if you know that you will loose the money if you sell or buy in the current situation. |

Buy and hold only works for bitcoin and a few other coins (Ethereum, Litecoin). With all others, when it pumps you need to sell, because it will crash back to earth. |

You are asking this question here that mean you are not one of the elite trader who can cash in every update/news on crypto space so better for you could be just hold whatever you have and keep buying more coins at current dumped price.
Day trading is really risky and you can't beat the short term market moves with manual trading and limited info.

day trading can always be a good source of income if you know how to do it and not end up bag holding by overdoing it. for example you can always find some potential altcoin in this big market and then invest in it for half a day while it gets pumped and earn at least 30% profit for that day alone. but holding that same altcoin can simply mean not only losing the opportunity to sell on top but also losing money when the dump crashes its price.

Considering the present market situation, do not enter in day trading if you are not a pioneer in trading. If you are a skilled trader day trading is a good option to earn some smart money. But don't be greedy & get maximum 20%-30% profit. In this bearish market better to buy some good ALTS as well as BTC for long hold. If you are planning to buy some wait for more dip in the near future. Day trading needs a lot of patience, Strategy & money management skills to win. Some of skills are mandatory. I was actually looking for the same answer and I am fortunate to find a relevant topic here. I have seen some potential coins like ETH, EOS and BTC see
daily gains/losses around 5% on an average. This could result in a good profit if done the right way. I know it has equal risk to loose which is why I have been holding on tight until now. I guess I ll have to hold on more until I am confident enough about the market trend and then start with day trading.

Depends on your capacity to think clearly with pressure. Normally, the best answer is to just hold coins until you make a profit. It takes a long time to reap the rewards but it is there. But if you think you can do better and trade daily, do it while the moment is opportune. It's easy to short at the current market condition than to hold. I'm shorting on my extra money whenever the market is in a slump and halt whenever the price is making a turn upwards. I gain 2-3% every time I try my hand at shorting and to me, that's already an impressive result. It works for me though it might not work for you, so don't take what I said fully and still decide for your own strategy.
