There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Never mind the translations, I think bounty and ICO promotions should be kept in the underworld here, and not be allowed on the local of general boards.

Then that would beat the whole purpose of having a bounty and promotion in the first place.
Mainstream social media shuns these advertisements, if we too do that how would the companies ever end up promoting the projects?

Well there is a reason for their adverts to be shunned, and as the chances to promote their scams in the world reduce, perhaps they will stop being created. Crypto has enough problems in gaining public acceptance, without all the scammers and spammers reducing credibilty. Bitcoin Talk needs to be seen as an honest representative of all that is good in crypto, and not as an underworld swamp.

I also think it's nothing to do with "Meta"( I mean starting a thread for just complaining about bounty translations). It should be addressed within the "Altcoin Discussion" boards itself also it's upto bounty manager or the ICO team, wether choosing a Google Net Rat or genuine translator. If the team accepts those Google Net Rats for translations better to avoid those scam ICOs.

I don't want to talk about why the social media shunned the ICOs. But we as a responsible members should not stake the credibility of the bitcointalk and it's members for just few ICO tokens which can create out of thin air.

These are often used google trans for bounty campaigns.

They'll just move to another forum/platform.

Users normally post such threads, on either "Reputation" or "Scam Accusations" boards but since "translation tools" are against the rules, then it can stay here (as a reference for his/her report):

27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed.

I agree it's a real problem OP mentioned here. The local sections are flooded with bad translations from google translate or similar. There are some specialists "translating" to 10 different languages or more. In the German section we list some of them to recognize the cheaters repeating this again and again and to report them faster. This list contains after 5 weeks 25 abusers with 55 fake translations (and that's only the tip of the iceberg)
It's very annoying if the few good topics in the German Altcoin section get buried from ANN bumps all the time, especially we could avoid the countless fake translations.

As the only intention of this is to gain more money by cheating it's a real problem for the honest translators if the cheaters get the translations and the rewards who don't deserve it.

To solve this problem we wouldn't have to do much, my suggestion is:
  • only allow bounty translations to Member or above (requires 10 Merit)
  • after 5 fake translations confirmed in the local forum the cheater gets red trust
  • participants with red trust aren't allowed to do translations

So everyone doing fake transaltions would risk to lose his account and thank to the merit system it would be difficult to get a Member account again.

This isn't much we would have to change, but I know my suggestion is very unlikely to implement because we need all the bounty managers to tighten up the requirements. The few good bounty managers are not enough, the lazy 95 percent are the problem.
But actually that would be the only way to stop translation cheaters effectively.

Maybe this is helpful, I've created this format in the German section:

topic:         https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=xxxxxx    archive: http://archive.is/xxxxx

author:      xxxxxx
                 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=xxxxxx

Languages the user did translations / posts before: ....

other suspicious content:

original ANN (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=xxxxx)
Quote from: original ANN
xxx

ANN using Google Translate
Quote from: ANN using Google Translate
xxx

ANN "translated" by xxx

(or add sentences making absolutely no sense  Cheesy)

I think you're doing a great job in trying to protect the forum from cheaters but in my opinion allowing 5 fake translations is a bit mild. Cheaters should be banned immediately because they are plagiarizing when they publish texts taken from somewhere else than their own brain.

Bounty managers shouldn't hire 'convicted' cheaters and when they do they deserve a slap on the wrist such as a temp ban. Same should go for not acting upon a cheater getting caught in an active campaign they're managing. I don't know if a 10 merit barrier is high enough to keep the rats out.

Although shooting fish in a barrel is fun, I'm sure we all have better things to do.

No quarters given is in my opinion an effective way to deal with cheaters and their enablers. The rules are clear.
