OK,

I am aware I have not been around the forums too long but we are a hardware importer and retailer based in UK

You can find the thread about our website here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434858.0

UK Ltd company, my personal name and status as a director on there, physical address and as much info as I can give you to prove status as genuine.

I have an order for 200 Gridseed 5 chip miners placed and waiting to ship, these are placed wholesale direct with Gridseed and not through the diginforce website . All orders need to be placed via our website.

www.bitcoinminingmachines.co.uk

our address

2-4 Millyard
Wharfebank Business Centre
Otley
LS21 3JP

You can pay by Paypal or by BTC. We need orders placed by our website for accurate stock control and address storage.

We expect delivery to UK around the 27th February, on which date you are welcome to come and collect. Any member of the forum wants to come and visit us on site previous to arrival or payment they are welcome to, I am at pains to take every step I can to prove legitimacy, I have seen so many scams around here I understand people get nervous. that's why Paypal is accepted.

Refunds up until day of shipping from us to you are no problem.

Prices -
1-10 -- 165 GBP + shipping
10+ -- 145 GBP + shipping
Wiiboard - 70 GBP + shipping

We have a fixed amount of 200 available on this batch. Hopeful to order a 2nd batch shortly, once we can gauge interest in the first batch.

Please check our returns policy and process, which is in full accordance with UK Distance Selling Regulations

http://bitcoinminingmachines.co.uk//index.php?route=account/return/insert

Direct link to all Gridseed products on our site

http://bitcoinminingmachines.co.uk//index.php?route=product/category&path=65

Happy to answer any and all questions and take any steps needed to prove we are a legitimate company.

Looks interesting. When do you expect to have the units in hand?

Why is there only 'pickup from store' as a shipping method?

Well you've been around on the forums for a while. I think it looks legit, but you need to add a shipping option to the checkout process. I'm not driving all the way up to leeds to collect. Smiley

When do you expect to have these in stock? If I pay in BTC, will you refund the same amount in BTC if they're turned away by customs due to CE marks?

OK, apologies was in the car earlier. Will respond properly now

some questions remain open..

1. do the miners have the important CE logo to ensure they can pass customs?

No at present the miners do not have CE logo. This is not mandatory for imports into UK. German customs do seize goods without CE marking, UK do not.

2. no.. whats your name? why don't you have a phone number?
as per my other thread

My name is Dean Hannan and I am a director of this and other companies, you are welcome to check me out on the web, I will appear as a director of several companies, some of which are registered to the address above.

I don't have a phone number on there because I get sick of time wasting spam calls. If you want my number PM ne, you can have my personal mobile number and a landline no problem.

Quote
3. what's the name of your company? on the webseite we can read "INDIE GLOW LTD"

company name is Indie Glow ltd, registered with Companies House Scotland. the registered address is that of our formation agent Rapid formations
Quote
4. what does "LS21 3JP" tell me?

it is our Postcode, the equivalent of a US Zip Code

This is a bit of a sticky point I admit. Whilst we had every intention of doing this we found that if we only offered stock for sale once here we end up having to sell everything on ebay because everyone else was selling their stock as soon as ordered from the manufacturer, it left us a massive disadvantage, when we thought it would be an advantage.

All I can say is, we offer Paypal for your protection, anyone from the forum is welcome to come visit us on site. We have a nice Italian restaurant on site, I will even take you out for some lunch and talk Bitcoin. I have put my own name as a director on here, you can check me out on the internet as a director of this and other companies.

Should be Royal Mail recorded or Special delivery or International Signed for at checkout, I will have a look and see why it isn't working.

Refund will be at the GBP price we received  from you. We can't account for BTC volatility because Gridseed only accept Fiat currency, if Gridseed accepted BTC we would be able to refund in the same.

Just checked, shipping option seemed to work fine for me? recorded delivery or special delivery.

where are you located?

Warwickshire. I tried clearing my cookies and trying again, but I'm still seeing the same (lack of) options. If it helps, I'm trying to order the 10-pack of gridseed miners.

As an aside, are you getting any of the control boards in?

It depends on the purpose of the import. I will send you some links later when I am home

Ok I think it is the estimate shipping button that is faulty.  If you go through checkout process you will get told shipping amount and given options before you get to payment. Don't have time to debug the estimate button right now but will have a look later.

Ok I think it is the estimate shipping button that is faulty.  If you go through checkout process you will get told shipping amount and given options before you get to payment. Don't have time to debug the estimate button right now but will have a look later.

I get the same (lack of) options there too.

As an aside, are you getting any of the control boards in?

unless i am mistaken, you are going to need the controller boards to run these...?

I think you can run them without, if you run them off a computer. But I would much prefer to have a board.

OP, are you sure that UK does not require CE for electronics import from outside EU?

Thanks

It depends on the purpose of the import. I will send you some links later when I am home

pls post it public.

CE mark obligation resulting from EU Regulation 765/2008
Please illustrate why this should not apply for UK

If products are marked for internal use and testing purposes then they do not need to be CE marked to pass an import procedure. It is only at the point where products are put on the European market that the CE mark becomes a necessity. This is why it depends on the purpose marked for import whether the goods will pass through customs happily without CE marking.

The quote from the European safety directive is

Quote
The CE marking or formerly EC mark, is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA)

The point where CE marking becomes legislatively necessary is when the product is put to market, not at point of import.

Try a different browser, I think it is something cached. We have had several orders this afternoon where shipping has been no problem from various parts of the world.

that's the point
Unfortunately, the EU is far too bureaucratic for BTC Hardware...

Quote
When goods are produced in third countries and the manufacturer is not represented in the EEA, importers must make sure that the products they place on the market comply with the applicable requirements and do not present a risk to the European public. The importer has to verify that the manufacturer outside the EU has taken the necessary steps and that the documentation is available upon request.

Thus, they must have an overall knowledge of the respective directives and are obliged to support national authorities should problems arise. Importers should have a written assurance from the manufacturer that they will have access to the necessary documentation - such as the EC Declaration of Conformity and the technical documentation – and be able to provide it to national authorities, if requested.

Quote from website "Each USB device will use 60w of power and mine Scrypt at 300K and SHA at 8G"

So it connects to a PC with USB, and requires an external power brick? Can you list suitable power bricks?

You, you need an external PSU that can supply 12V.

To OP:

Do we need that controller? What is it purpose?

Thanks!

Too late and too tired to look at the shipping module right now. Have had more orders with shipping included from UK EU and Canada so not sure what is going on. Will get it sorted in the morning though. Apologies for any inconvenience.

VAT is included and we can do Intracommunity VAT free transfers for EU VAT registered companies.

Yeah, there was a bug in the shipping module. Now fixed as far as I can tell. Spent quite a while checking it and every country an d product I tried worked.

Controllers need to be bought seperately and are available on the Gridseed manufacturer page.

when you order from the manufacturer, they send 1 controller per 10 boards, don't they? I've looked at setting up a little farm of these for myself and even though they look OK, the hash speed isn't really fast enough for me.. it was my conclusion that i'd need at least 10 units to make any kind of return - evn then, the sha-side of them is only 80GH in total, which may pay for the electric at current difficulty levels. Less than 10 units, isn't going to cut the mustard, so they should be sold in batches of 10, with the controller board included. thoughts?

Personally I am using them as a Scrypt only ASIC. 10 of them works out cheaper than 5 x R9 280 + MB + RAM + Chip + PSU + cooling. Considerably cheaper and uses considerably less power.

temporarily disabling BTC payment to change from Coinbase to bitpay. Coinbase cart integration is rubbish and we are having to manually adjust order status at present on every BTC order. Should be no more than a few hours.

just wandering about the prices here

they seem very expensive

see here where the prices are more realistic

I'm looking to put together a groupbuy for the gridseed - cost is
200-999 units: 160 USD/unit
1000+ units: 155 USD/unit

1 Controller is needed for up to 15 devices @ $60 USD per controller

Minimum of 200 units for groupbuy to move forward - hosting can be provided if needed/wanted at a tier 1 data center

also has been confirmed to be legitimate by iluvpcs who has sold thousands of antminer u1's

see here

I just contact gridseed to see if the op's quote was accurate. I let you guys know how much they truly cost as soon as I get a response
It's accurate.  I've been in contact and coordination with shipping with Gridseed for bulk purchase and quoted similar pricing (though the controller pricing has went up).

and you can see his trust is +5  (these proofs are just for people who have been scammed by avalonshenzen)

160 usd is in gbp  160/1.67  = £95.8

even with vat this is £115  and the person arranging the us gb is also making a profit

its one thing for these prices on amazon but why here on the forums

it's a new product, first batch prices on new products are usually universal and not negotiable.

The priced from gridseed do not include shipping to UK from china . They will not ship international so we have bad to pay someone in China to arrange freight forward g plus international shipping costs.  Yes we are making a profit but it is a small profit and will barely cover minimum wage for the time to pack them up and ship them out. Remember we have had to shell out a lot of cash to order these

will they have the new firmware?  will it be double in speed?

as far as I am aware tat firmware belongs to asiaBTC not to gridseed. these will ship as gridseed stock items.

We are expecting them back end of next week here with us. We will dispatch to customers same day they arrive with us.

Yes we have about 70 left on this batch now. We will be doing a 2nd batch but I want people to receive the first batch and to get some feedback on the goods and our service before doing batch 2.

I can't answer on the firmware upgrade. I have never even seen it in operation. Just words on this forum.  I am a little sceptical about it. First gen of a new product and a reseller has double the speed of the manufacturer. .. I guess we will see.

No one has been and visited our offices or taken me up on the lunch offer I'm afraid. Of course it still stands, I'm quite surprised.  Quite a few people have spent quite a bit of money with us now on this forum but  no one has wanted to verify. Or have lunch with such a charming erudite chap as myself.

Hi don't worry.  Once the transaction confirms on the network the coinbase api is meant to send the confirmation back to the cart so it completes. Unfortunately it's buggy as he'll so we are needing to do them by hand. As it's only 6 30  here I haven't had a chance to go through the ones from last night yet and update them.  Will do it soon

Hi. That is a secondary paypal email. Didn't realise it was even still registered.  Primary paypal email is my hotmail and is still receiving messages. Message me through Paypal and I will respond so you have our primary paypal email.

As an aside we have had to temporarily disable paypal as they have put a limit on our account until we provide some invoices etc for our purchases.  All orders will still be delivered as usual and it will have no effect on existing orders. They have told us 48 to 72 hours to re enable the account after providing documentation.  So should be back up by sunday

If anyone still has concerns over our legitimacy I suggest a visit to our offices. The offer of a lunch and visit still stands. Alternatively try emailing. Sales@gridseed.com and asking if Dean hannan has placed an order. I can offer no more. I have given my real name offered visits told the companies i am a director of.  If I was here to rip anyone off I would be liable to being kneecapped as I would be easy to find

I thought you could use Win32 to run these, that is what I was told here before I purchased one

the controller board allows them to be a standalone miner. They can be run from a 32 bit PC for sure, can't guarantee 64bit at tje moment

That is a 32 bit PC on Linux not on win. Apologies if there was any confusion I (probably wrongly) assume scrypt miners are running linux not win

i think we simply need one of these software.. https://github.com/gridseed
it's a modification of either cgminer or cpuminer..
both can be compiled under linux or under windows ( windows might be a little bit complicated: using MinGW )

we have to choose.. either cheap & fast product OR good documentation ^^

I am running two of these off a Win8 64bit PC without much trouble. I have read of problems with COM ports higher than 9 but a few will work fine. Use the Win 32bit drivers.

The problem here is that gridchip code me tat ion is not yet translated to English and conflicting info keeps coming up.  It seems there are cpu miner compilations in Linux windows 32 and 64 bit available bit gridseed themselves state only linux without a control box. These are brand new to market and only prerelease beta units are out in the wild at present.  No doubt with their popularity in the community a massive support network will be in place very quickly

Hi,

yeah you missed a post last page. Paypal temporarily disabled as they have put a limit on our account due to sudden increased activity. They are wanting some invoices and documentation from us before they will left the hold. It doesn't affect anyone who has already paid with paypal but at present we are unable to withdraw funds from our account so until they have lifted this we need to offer BTC or bank transfer only unfortunately. We are looking at adding a seperate credit / debit card option for people over the next day or so to enable people to purchase with confidence. Also happy to offer escrow via a trusted provider on this site

Hi

Ah yes - thanks for the clarification.  I'll pay with bitcoin a little later (I'll have to visit my secret bunker containing my bitcoin stash Grin ).  Just a small order for now, but if I'm happy with the technology and the service I suspect I may be placing larger orders in the future  Smiley

OK, if you want to pay bitcoin then please confirm when done as we have to manually complete the order from Coinbase.

Maybe it's a good thing to put in the OP what you'll need to run it besides what you sell. I've copied this from one of the many gridseed threads:

Quote
10 X Gridseed Miner
1 X Controller (no computer required to use the miner)
3 x 12V 30A DC industrial power supply (1 spare for no downtime!! 2 to power 10 miners)
1 x 13 Port UNITEK usb hub (high performance and quality important for stability)
12 x 2.5mm DC power cables (2 spare cables)
10 x usb mini data cables
1 x 1A usb charger with usb micro cable (to power the controller)
1 x network cable
4 x Country power adaptor (choice of AU, EU, US) to plug in 2 power supplies, usb hub and controller

As far as I can see that's slightly overdone, and when you want to mine without SHA256 you'll probably be done with just a powered USB hub instead of all the power supplies. The controller that you have on the site, it's recommended for 15. Is it possible to do 20 with it? Or is 15 the max?

I'd want to receive the package, connect with cables I bought ahead instead of "getting it on friday and only be able to run on monday evening because I had to find all the cables and stuff" Wink

Every minute delay will cost money now Cheesy

I have two of these and they will not run with just a powered HUB. Even though the BTC mining is not working, CPUminer still wants to send power to the chips. So, you need the PSUs until (if) someone fixes this requirement.

Hi there,

Just tried to order and was going to use paypal, but Coinbase(bitcoin) is the only option.

Am I missing something?

Cheers

Dave

Hi,

yeah you missed a post last page.

Cheers

Dave

OK, if you want to pay bitcoin then please confirm when done as we have to manually complete the order from Coinbase.

Hi

All done. PM with confirmation number sent.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks, order status updated.

This batch is nearly gone now.

We will be doing another batch but not until we have received and shipped these to customers.

Can you verify how many you have left in this batch?

not until after the weekend now fully. Around 25-30. I am going to suspend sales until after the weekend and when we are in the office go through and do a full order reconciliation, tie all orders up against all payments and make sure there are no errors that have crept in. The coinbase integration is pretty poor with our cart and I don't want to oversell.

On Monday when back in office the first thing we will do is make sure that all orders tie up to all payments and there have been a couple of cancelations and refunds so we will make sure the cart has allocated stock correctly  against them too and then put stock back live again. There are probably no errors in there but with stock running low I don't want to run the risk.

at present we just want to get this buy out of the way and items delivered to customers and then we will take it forwards from there. We have some 1T miners from China we can get and a few other bits but we are focused on ensuring this goes smoothly and well before putting any more offers out there.

Stock will reopen for sale on Monday when I have reconciled all orders and payments against coinbase. According to my initial rec last night there are 32 left in stock when I check funds received against orders but the cart is showing slightly more in stock so I need to just make sure the cart tallies with funds and orders. Again this is just because the callback from coinbase to store is not great and I think some orders coinbase callback has not removed stock from cart. we have also refunded a couple of customers so it is also possible that that stock has not been added back into cart

Obviously we don't want to oversell so until I am back in office Monday I am halting all sales until we are 100% that all ties up. It is safe to say there are at least 30 left in stock though.

Any ETA on ship out?

back end next week I hope. Hard to give an exact date. Gridseed don't ship internationally so they are shipping internally in China to my guy there, he is then forwarding htem on via DHL, who then forward to Hong Kong and they ship out to UK from there. Once in Hong Kong it is only a couple of days to get to our door. I will keep this thread informed of exact status of goods and put the DHL tracking live as soon as I get it from my guy over there. At the moment it is all waiting on Gridseed shipping. Shouldn't be more than a few days before they get them out of the door though.

Nope, these will just be the miners themselves. I am getting together some power options shortly and shipping them in from China. There will be single power connectors and multiple connection switching power supplies. should be pretty cheap.

nope, we can't turn paypal back on until we have delivered the first batch of miners to customers as paypal have our account on temporary hold until we can prove delivery to customers.

Excellent. What do you s'pose the turnaround will be? Are they shipped 1-2 days to you? Then You'll ship them out by end of week/early next?

Thanks!

Well because gridseed don't ship internationally they are going to my agent in Shenzhen who will be shipping to us via dhl. So i guess we will get dhl tracking weds / Thurs then arrival UK Fri / Mon.  We will dispatch all orders same day they arrive here and provide tracking to all customers as long as dhl arrive early enough for us to pack and send out same day. Best case scenario we dispatch Friday and most customers receive Monday. Some UK customers Saturday.  Worst case scenario we dispatch Monday and most customers receive around Wednesday

In fact scratch that.

I will arrange collection from dhl depot. That way we are guaranteed a good time of receipt and the ability to ship same day to customers

Question, for all those sold miners that are not in ten packs, they do not get a controller board, so in the end you should end up with a couple of extra controller boards. Would you be selling these individually??? If so I might be interested in one

it needs payment through coinbase straight up. Don't worry too much though, once this round is done I will be doing another. I just want to ensure that all these get out of the door and delivered before starting round 2.

Accessories now showing. These may arrive with us a couple of days behind the miners, still waiting supplier confirmation for the 2.5mm plug cables to go with the switching power supply. Will update as soon as I can.

We still have your USB cables, they are just temporarily inaccessible. Don't worry though, you can still deposit funds to purchase more USB cables and we will enable withdrawals once we find them again.

OK, this buy is now sold out.

We will be doing another one as soon as we have these out and delivered. Really want to show that these are out of the door and with customers before doing round 2 though.

Hopefully we will be able to offer better pricing and quicker delivery for orders of 10 and over next time.

We are negotiating with our agent in China to handle dispatch of orders of 10 and over directly to customers worldwide. This will cut down on both time, the import duties we have to pay here and also shipping costs, bringing the unit price down.

No firm or final prices yet though on this.

thanks to all who purchased from this first group buy and I will update the packages DHL tracking as soon as I have it in hand, then also update all buyers with their individual tracking when we send out from here.

Hi,

if you have the large 12v 30A power supply you will need some 2.5mm x 5.5mm DC connectors on cables.

We have some on order but don't have an arrival date yet.

I had a hunt around and found these on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5mm-DC-Power-Plug-with-1-8-Metre-Cable-/120574471567?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1c12cc6d8f

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-5x2-5mm-DC-Tip-Plug-connector-with-Cord-Cable-for-Asus-K52-/221376239680?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item338b0d5840

i am sure some sellers on here may already have some available too.

not as far as I can tell. Getting info out of Gridseed it hard at the best of times though.

It runs of 5V with a micro USB connector though so any phone charger will power it, except Apple of course.

Does anyone know which contact (from the 2.5mm x 5.5mm plug) should be (+) and which (-)? I guess
(+) should be on the inner contact, but there is no universal convention about that, right?

I purchased a single unit from Beastlymac's group buy, and it came with power cable (5.5x2.5 one end, open wires other end), and a mini USB cable, not micro USB, so your standard mobile charger cable will not fit.

Use it to control the 10 GridSeed Miners and to have them hashing... It is the same as having them connect to a PC with the appropriate software.

You didn't read what i wrote right? YOu only need a controller if you don't have a PC to connect them to... This controller is a, basically, linux box with software to control  the hasher without the need to connect anything more other than the Internet itself.

They will be shipped from England. The whole shipment is on the way to us and should be here Monday, then we will distribute from here then.

Will be ordering again today / tomorrow. I would expect us to be able to ship to customers early / mid next week. Will run things slightly different this time to enable cheaper pricing. I have negotiated with my Chinese agent who receives the goods to ship directly from China to international customers, this will allow me to cut prices quite a bit as I will avoid import costs at this end and cut a layer of shipping out.

I will be starting a round 2 thread as soon as this lot are out of the door.

This means that we will be paying for Import Duty taxes correct? For me this is not a good option as customs here take up to a 1 month to clear products.

Nevertheless state your price and conditions when you have them :-)

OK so the good news is we have packed up most of the orders here and got them ready already.

The bad news is ...

Gridseed forgot to include the controller boards. They are getting back to me tomorrow, I am hoping we can get a quick easy resolution and get them to send the controller boards on directly to everyone so as not to cause any delays but I won't have an answer from them as to a solution until tomorrow.

Massive apologies to all I am seriously vexed about this, leave it with me until tomorrow and I will get a resolution to it. I will email all customers directly too about it.

Direct delivery of the controllers would be the best yeah. It's more profitable to hook up a raspberry or a PC instead of waiting a week for the controllers Wink

Guys, please bear with us we have been having a really busy day today, priority is in packing ans shipping everyones orders right now. 200 in, broken up into a lot of small orders, customs forms filled out, packing, bookign couriers etc etc etc as well as trying to deal with Gridseeds failure to send us the controller boards blah blah blah. I promise you we will update everyones tracking as soon as it becomes possible.

And listen to PMB, go stick on Ed Rush and Opticals Wormhole and pour some rum. I will be doing later when all finished.

Given how packing was still taking place at 7pm last night, I suspect they'll be going out today.

Are refunds an option on the controller boards? I ordered two, but I now have spare raspberry pi's that would do the job just fine.

Its a mix, not all orders got out before courier a lot did. Everyone has tracking number, if the one you are emailed isn't working yet then it means it will start working later today.

Ok so tracking has been up and emailed to everyone except EU orders of 10 or more (apart from Cyprus)

These missed collection yesterday, as courier came too early. I have the tracking number for all these but they don't work and won't until about 5PM UK time, maybe a little earlier. I can send them out but I would rather wait until they are working.

Edit so say, all EU orders of 10 or more are on 2 day service from UK so will be delivered on Thursday.

Well, they say they are sorry, great. They can ship controller boards on Thursday, I am talking to them about sending them on direct to customers.

Again I can only aoplogise to everyone, if you want to cancel and refund the controller board then let me know, you may be able to source quicker. I am going to mail around myself now and see if anyone can resolve this quicker than Gridseed for me.

Yup, cancelling them would be easier. It's already possible to get a decent working version on a Raspberry Pi so I'd rather experiment with that Smiley

Plus I'm getting an extra controller from another order of gridseeds.

Royal Mail just delivered my order, still waiting for the email with tracking info though (Must be the first time snail mail beat email  Tongue)

It is worth noting that opposite the order I received from BeastlyMac's group buy, this order didn't include power and usb cables for the individual units, luckily I had spares and I am happily hashing.

Hi,

yeah we were so knackered last night that we left without updating tracking. When we got in this morning we figured it was pointless sending out tracking to special delivery UK customers

As per the posts in here all accessories are available as seperate purchases on our website.

Hi,

Very happy with shipping time - Received mine yesterday.  Not been able to play with it yet but may get the chance tomorrow.

Quick question - any news on the controllers?  Are they still being shipped from China on Thursday as expected?

Cheers

Dave

There are a lot of posts and guides now on the forum for running these without the controller boards. If anyone wants a refund on the controllers just drop me a PM and let me know.

this guy has 48 running on a single Win7 64 bit machine, no controllers.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=502038.0

More than happy to refund any unwanted controllers so you all get mining quicker and cheaper.

Spoken to Gridseed today, no controllers until next week  Angry

At this stage, as they can easily be run from R Pi or PC without a controller I honestly feel it best if I refund all controllers to people. There are lots of posts and support around the forum for getting them running on R Pi or direct from a PC. Going to email all customers now and let you know the situation.

Again I can only apologise for this, it was totally and utterly out of our hands and a balls up by Gridseed, we didn't have any idea they hadn't included them until the shipment arrived short on Monday.

Already arrived. Now the power stuff I ordered through Ebay hasn't (nor is the tracking there working) so I'm heading to the local computer store to get some crap to have most of them running until it's complete;)
