I'm having some trouble to be in the same blockchain as grw.blockx.info. I'm assuming that the explorer is in the correct blockchain. I'm running the last github version. I've redownloaded the blockchain at least 5 or 6 times these past two days, but I always end in a wrong fork, even if I sometimes appear as connected in http://grw.blockx.info/connected-nodes and besides having around 15-20 nodes, most of them common, but some still using 1.2.1. Sometimes I download the blockchain from the start or sometimes I use but it is too old as it is before the fork. I had a backup at around the same block, too early. Usually I end at around block 501426. This last time I've used a computer in a different subnet, using a new empty wallet.dat and with the list of nodes of grw.blockx.info in my config file. I'm now on block 508152 that is some 600 blocks longer. Does anybody knows how to connect to the right fork? Or do you have a correct blockchain after block 50200 that can be downloaded? Is there any way to avoid the connection to version 1.2.1 nodes? Thanks yeah you are right, try this backup of the block chain http://grw.blockx.info/grw_blockchain_20140529.tar.gzalternatively, did you try to start the client with the -rescan switch? might help to correct your forking issue unick,i use win XP,can you upload the blockchain with .zip but not .gz ? i can not uncompress. thank you. you can try http://www.7-zip.org/ or http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm to uncompress the tar.gz file here's some instructions http://superuser.com/questions/215629/how-to-open-a-tar-gz-file-in-windowsIf that doesn't work, I'll make a zip copy later sorry,i can not download the software on the website you gave me. ok, here's a zip version http://grw.blockx.info/grw_blockchain_20140529.zip

ok , i got the wallet to compile after a few tweaks,
going to take a while for the blockchain to download, then I will find my old wallet and see what shows up ....
from a development standpoint , I am curious,
I don't think the original GRO had Crypto++ included, why did you put it in ?
You don't have to answer but just curious really..... also it looks like (working off memory here I have to dig up the old source code that is long gone from github) you took out the original stake modifier in kernel.cpp and added your own, this should not matter as they are just basically hardcoded checkpoints anyway, just curious if you did this why ?
Looks like a solid effort and a lot of work !!
I don't remember how many coins I have left and if I can earn a little stake now but i will certainly throw a few your way ....
I like non hostile community takeovers and updating 'dead' coins.....(i have done a few in my day but all were pretty simple jobs just getting things started again) nothing as extensive as this work.....
Cheers !! Maybe an exchange will finally pick this coin up now.....
I realize it is considered by many just another scryptcoin /clone whatever BUT I personally am a lot more inclined to support a coin that has kept running (Even on 3 wheels like this one did) on its own for a long time than one of these 2 day mine, ipo proof of stake x13 mutations I see the forums cluttered with here......
There is something to be said for 'paying your dues' and longevity, being around 6 months or a year or more should mean something in the world of cryptocurrency...... I think it does to some people but not enough....
Still looking foreward to see how it will work out !!
I am relatively new here and wasn't around when the first source was launched. I am not aware of the changes you are talking about. If you want to contribute to the revival of this coin, we are looking to rise some BTC to buy are way in Cryptsy. 5 BTC is our goal and should get us to the top spot pretty easily. I've setup this address for the Cryptsy FUND: 1Cx2AdwyfcLWjiz8tvz3N9v7n5UeixmYf Also, I do appreciate the gesture of sending me GRW/BTC, but I'd prefer the funds be spent towards the development of the coin. So I've also setup a GRW address for development and bounties. GRowthPRXXnMkMpXbFM1iEG8d7ShYdhp3B Glad to see "older" supporters coming back BTW, what tweaks did you have to make in order to build, was it something that needs to be changed in the code ?

Guys I'm not sure if anyone has donated anything so far to unick, but we really need to pull together to send him some donations for his efforts. More updates in the last few weeks compared with the last few months combined. I'll move some coins and send you something soon, I urge everyone else to show their appreciation as well Great work so far man He has done an incredibly good job. If I had coins to donate I'd gladly do it! Great work indeed! As I just answered cinnamon_carter, same goes here, If you guys wish to support, you can send BTC to the address in the above post so we can buy are way in Cryptsy

I would need a feedback from the community.
I said this already but I think now is the time to take position.
I believe starting a new thread for this conversation would give us better control over the OP and changes could be made easier and faster.
My concern is that this would be a third thread on GRW. A lot of people still don't know that we are reviving this coin so I'm afraid that if we start a new thread, it might confuse more people.
So I'm asking you guys what you think about that
Thanks

Maybe with the new client GRW is more stable (no more orphans in pools), so a new thread should be a good idea, as it is like a maturity for the coin.

I think we definitely need a new [RE-ANN] thread with clean and nice looking OP. GRW is resurrected now and runs great with the new wallet, it's time to move further.

Meanwhile guys, I managed to talk to Jimmy over cryptocointalk.com and was added as a mod for the GrowthCoin forum. One of the big advantages we get from cryptocointalk is that we can start a thread for each discussion or issue we may have. It's better organized so in the long run has we don't end up with a 300 page thread that makes it impossible to find information! you can find it here: https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/337-growthcoin-grw/

think i was trying with an outdated version of crypto++ and was missing a thing or two, nothing wrong with your source. As far as cryptsy , I would not send them a single satoshi to list a coin I refuse to do so for the coins I have developed and would suggest all serious developers and users/traders of cryptocurrency just take a stand and stop allowing exchanges to demand a bribe to list a coin. We are the customers and while they have a right to list what coins they please , this voting with the bribe of btc has gotten out of hand. I wish you success in the revival of the coin. The blockchain is getting there , pretty tall !! ok , i got the wallet to compile after a few tweaks,

It has indeed gone wayy out of the hand! it takes atleast 20 btcs for some exchanges which is atrocious! While I understand the noble reason behind your stand, I think the fact that a coin being listed on an exchange with volume is better than the cost of the bribe is bad.
That being said, Cryptsy was chosen because it wasn't too outrageous has a bribe to get listed.
Now if there is another way of achieving this, I would be more than happy to hear about it and try it.
This still is a community decision so I wont assume the cost of the bribe alone!

I know this was a long time ago, so I guess I can't get it back now, but is there a -salvagewallet or switch I could use to get these coins back?
Status: 0/unconfirmed Date: 2014-02-20 03:00 To: GUxT3aUvKrFV84aASf9GCs7uvnDMTPVoon Debit: -600.00 GRW Transaction fee: -0.20 GRW Net amount: -600.20 GRW Transaction ID: f71436bfada384c553cb9dcffab1ff2da6990ddd85eb10a5790d8b4f53ebc1e8
They just sit there in the transaction list, unconfirmed. :-/
if that was a transaction that never got accepted, a backup and repairwallet could restore those coins, or a salvagewallet should do it. If those were mined on a fork... chances are they will be lost. The same day, a few hours apart there has been transactions to this wallet address that worked, just this one didn't. I have tried repairwallet (console), switches -rescan -reindex and -salvagewallet, but no luck there, it's gone.

I think we definitely need a new [RE-ANN] thread with clean and nice looking OP. GRW is resurrected now and runs great with the new wallet, it's time to move further. If you do this, please use a dedicated account (like we did for Monero). Much easier to handle for a team than if it is tighted to a person. Longer term and scales better.

I know I had a similar issue when I mined on a fork a few months back, lost those coins too.

I'm not into those generic accounts for the dev "team" as I find it casts a shadow on the coin. You are not really gaining anything IMO by having a newbie account at the head of an official coin page.
