Fellow commrades,
It just happened that my graduation ceremony out of college was some few weeks ago but yet I did not attend this ceremony because i needed to watch over my investments in cryptocurrency and also engage in activities of this noble forum. My parents think i am a SCAMMER right now because i am always with my laptop and chatting online. I wish i could explain things to them further but it seems they have already taken side just like the haters of the crypto community out there. But come to think of it guys crypto is helping me a lot and this is where my investments are not some white collar job so was it wrong for me to have stayed home and watched over my investments in the crypto community? Please help because my conscience is really making me feel guilty now but I know i did the right thing.

Yes, it is. You could have attended your graduation ceremony and also your bitcoin investments and this forum when you got back home. You are obsessed with it. Have a life.

The graduation ceremony doesn`t matter.I didn`t attend my graduation ceremony, when I graduated university back in 2013.Your parents most likely want you to get a "9 to 5" job and live an ordinary life as a slave.Cryptocurrencies can give you freedom, but you will have to work hard to get that freedom.
I don`t think that you have to watch your crypto investments 24/7.Just have a proper strategy and control your emotions.

Yeah man, it was a bad choice.

DO you have a mobile phone? If so, download an app and watch your investments while you're living your life. If you're missing important things in your life to be lurking on Bitcointalk.org you have a problem. Seriously.

Well i don't think you made a wrong choice though because i really don't know aside your investments whether you are into bounty campaigns which usually takes a lot of time if you are participating in blog campaigns for instance. i remember i used half of my day just to write a blog for UChain campaign and i think it is worth my time because that is what it going to bring me money to sustain me not some old crap graduation ceremony which just last for a day. No offence to anybody though.

Man, that was not a good choice.

I am just a high school grad, and I just couldn't find job; they said I am underemployed with no decent education background. Yeah, I knew what it feels like, to be not so helpful with my parents---so please, continue attending school. And besides, you can still continue your crypto journey even after you graduate.

You did what!...you skip a whole graduation for crypto...lol i don't think that was necessary man even Satoshi had a break but well i cannot actually judge you because i really don't know what you are doing in crypto but anyway no matter what the case maybe have an external life aside the activities of this forum or else your social life is really going to get rusty. A piece of advice because i have been there before.

I do not think studying or even attending important occasion like graduation ceremony will make you lose watch over your crypto investment. from what you have written I can see that you need to work on your time management. I was ones in the same position when I first join bitcointalk. I always want to be visiting the site every minutes and do go around with gadget but later I discover there is need for me to redefine what i am doing because it was affecting other activities I suppose to have done and since that day, I have always have balance life. From the post on facebook, I can see you are Nigerian so I wont be surprise about what people says when they see you carrying laptop around because I am also witnessing the same. thats average Nigerian Mentality. ones they see you carrying laptop around or you are using sophisticated gadget they will libel you as a scammer.

you can have both if you plan your time well. what you need to do is to plan your activities daily. how much you intend to spend online daily doing campaign and writing blog can be planned by you. when you evaluate your previous presence and what you have achieve for the amount of time you have consume doing one thing or the other you will realize you waist alot of time online except you are not a fast thinker which I believe you can work on. some people are addicted to internet even though they have achieve little or nothing. I have a brother that spend at least 6 hours a day visiting facebook just to look friends posts and comments  Grin

What do you do when watching your investment?  If you monitor prices and trade every day, I think you are a day trader
If you are an investor I don't understand why you can be burdened with your investments, you can do activities in this forum and monitor investments on your smartphone

Why glueing to the monitor to watch your investment, watch are you watching there. Watching over your investment and staying in this forum should not be an excuse for not attending your graduation. You could get yourself a mobile device where you can do all on the go.

Your decisio is quite saddening, I mean if your parents think you are a scammer then why not prove them wrong, it may be hard to explain but they're your parents after all, and if they finally belive and trust you then I think you'll be able to manage yourself, spend your time wisely and not sit all day on your desk making investments, it won't be your primary income, it is still different when you get a college degree and a diploma, and the opportunity going on your graduation ceremony is a big waste, I mean you should always put your education first, even if you are earning big don't forget that anything can happen, and getting a diploma is always good, go for it, don't settle for that only, make sure your future is brighter than the sun.

If I'm on your shoe, I'll attend to the ceremony because that's only once in a lifetime and you can't undo the memories that you can cherish forever with that event.

Regarding your parents thought about you as a scammer, well they are knowledgeable about things online and they are thinking to the negative side. Haven't you talked with them and showed you on how you are making a living with crypto's?

What does this post have to Bitcoin? Huh
The person is talking about investing in the whole of the cryptocurrency.
Then a sense of guilt - this is a branch for psychologists needed.

I think that's just fine. Youreally show dedication to crypto man. But i think it would have been better that you attended just for your parents. I mean all parents would like to see their children graduate.

I am just thinking, are you doing a daytime trade? If not, why missed that important moment of a student life. It so sad to see that pic, they looked so happy. Its like im in your situation regreting this. I just cant understand the logic of it. Its a good thing that have my moment in the stage accepting my diploma. I am not saying yout dedication to cryptos is bad, but maybe i think you must prioritize things that will be your lifetime memories.

I guess its more on addiction since you have chosen to engage in crypto instead of more important real world things and activities, crypto will be here anytime you want, but college graduation will only happen once in a lifetime but you choose others than that

My only question is,do you think crypto will feed you all your life?or maybe you are missing something here, virtual life is different from real life we must neger this forget

My opinion is, it would be better if you choose your graduation over your crypto task. Your parents probably wanted to see tou march wearing your graduation toga, and it is also an achievement for them see you graduated. You have all your time doing your crypto task after your graduation.

which you do is right and wrong, and you should try to get your parents into the crypto investment so they also feel the results of the crypto, and I think that way will give you the right understanding for your parents.

It is a good thing to do things that makes your parents happy. They also wait to see you wearing graduation gown, receiving a diploma with them but you selfishly get away that moment for them for your investment which you can stop for a moment and comeback later because there are much time you can put for that but graduation day is a special day that cannot happened again unless you study again for masteral or any.

I just don't understand why you didn't go, it's only one day in your life and you make your friends and family happy by going.
Plus, there's food and drinks and it's generally just pretty fun to do.

You can't make me believe that you really didn't have the time for it. Honestly it almost sounds like you have an unhealthy obsession.

Yes, it is. You could have attended your graduation ceremony and also your bitcoin investments and this forum when you got back home. You are obsessed with it. Have a life.
Well you can choose to call it an obsession but i call it a passion for what sustains me man. I was so not lucky to be among the good ones that attended college and so what's the point in leaving a job that i have decided to take as full time business. You don't know how things are back in Africa bruh. The elite and high profile people only care about themselves and their relatives and filling majority of the spots in the government sector.
You will be lucky if you happen to be a friend of theirs but guess what mate, I ain't and none of my relatives are so i guess my opportunity is in crypto and in this forum so why go and sit under some graduation so that the praise of others would be sang to my hearing.
Never!

I have already graduated but never attended graduation ceremony because those ceremony are only to take photos and post on social medias, you will get degree even without attending those ceremony so if you don't like to than you can leave it.

Why I have missed mine is different story but I couldn't get you why you have to stick with your laptop 24 hour? You can look at your investment even from your mobile. You need to socialize to survive in this cruel world man...Cryptocoins can't be everything and money is not all what we need.

Only thing I can think about here is RESPECT and the lack of it you have shown toward your parents.

Your parents raised you, paid for your upkeep and most likely subsidised you while you were studying at college.

Not attending your graduation ceremony has deprived them of their right to be proud, their right to feel proud of themselves for believing in you and the right of self-justification for the sacrifices they made to enable you to pursue your studies.  Watching you at your graduation covers all these bases...

I'm not suggesting that you set out to intentionally hurt your parents, but You can't undo this now.  I would suggest you think of some sort of heartfelt and genuine gesture to litigate your actions.

Tricky one... Good luck

I think your situation is easy, attending a graduation ceremony is important and it's only one time event... you can use your phone during the ceremony...   buddy you should think also to balance your time... ceremony is only 2-5  hours you can go back to your laptop afterwards...

Graduation is a once in a lifetime event. It would have been nice if you have attended your graduation since it only takes a few hours. And you could go back to your investment anytime. Unless you are a day trader which is why you could not leave your investments. That is why I do not recommend day trading because it will take much of your time. Dude, don't miss out on the little good things of life. Coz they may not happen again.

Answer depends ,

If you made Thousands of Dollar$ by missing graduation, then you made the right call.

If your funds stayed basically the same, you let fear of loss, cost you a once in a lifetime experience, which was the wrong call.

Life only happens once, and the pattern you are starting may cost you more than you know.

Will you miss your 1st child being born to watch the markets?

Somethings you can't get back, better be sure it won't bother you later before deciding to miss it. Smiley

wut?

you have the rest of your life to 'watch over' your crypto, not that it needs watching over. it's gonna do what it's gonna do.

unless you're day trading, and you shouldn't be, crypto is best left to its own devices while you get on with life elsewhere. if all goes well then crypto will allow you to have a richer life. rubbing your nose on your screen until there's a hole in both is a waste of life.

I think you should feel happy with the choices you have made, because if you go broke without your investment then they will still talk against you so what's the point?

I am just thinking, are you doing a daytime trade? If not, why missed that important moment of a student life. It so sad to see that pic, they looked so happy. Its like im in your situation regreting this. I just cant understand the logic of it. Its a good thing that have my moment in the stage accepting my diploma. I am not saying yout dedication to cryptos is bad, but maybe i think you must prioritize things that will be your lifetime memories.

To each his own, I didn't care that much about mine either. You do what you gotta do to reach your goals.

Why would they think you're scamming people though?

For me its kinda sad since you missed one of the most awaited event in your life. We have something that we must prioritize . Graduation is very important in students life why? because you study to graduate , to achieve your goals. Its not bad to watch over your bitcoin but it will be bad if you dont know your limits.

It couldn't have cost your investment to attend your graduation ceremony. It's just once in a lifetime even but you have all your life to watch your investment and browse the forum.

It's only for a day and you did not attend? The market will not crash in just a day. You can also set stops to keep your investments while having moments with your family and friends. And you can return back after it. You made it til graduation and yet you still learn nothing. What if your school has a tight rule of "no attendance in ceremony, no diploma"? So you're gonna repeat the whole study thing? Be professional, attend on those kind occasions even if it's quite boring. There are more boring things to come after your school life but they're required for you to move forward. So go and make up for it.

it is a bad choice. bitcoin is always there for you. you can just bring your phone and monitor your investment. graduation is a lifetime event and you make your parents disappointed in you. money is good but sometimes it is the cause of destruction. you should manage your time also always value your family.

To be honest, I will not give you good to hear advice but I would not prefer to miss such a ceremony because it is something that never happens again and again so even if you are willing to attend such ceremony you won't be able to do it unless you decide to take another degree.

Definitely, you might have more interest in the crypto industry but that doesn't mean that things taking place in Crypto industry should affect your real life. At this point, you can do nothing more than learning a lesson and moving on. The feeling of guilt won't improve you but a lesson will do it.

As far as your future is concerned, do what you love and seek satisfaction without missing such once in lifetime moments.

I agree, it is bad, because it is only a lifetime event. You might regret that later once you get a job or once you get old. It's a fun memory that you should not pass. I agree that bringing your phone is a good way, you can monitor it in the ceremony. It's the only thing that will make your parents happy, so you should really choose the ceremony, and besides it's only for one day.

You could attend ceremony instead because crypto is just there and your graduation ceremony is once in a life time experience unless you study again for Masters Degree. I've never thought that someone would missed their chance to received their diploma on stage in exchange of being secure of your investment. Can't you access you investment thru online? If you can only access it thru your laptop then download a teamviewer then access it thru your mobile phone and that will solve your problem anytime anywhere without any interruption.

It is a choice you have already made so you should be able to live with the consequences, you should have known that things like graduation comes once in a life time, attending it could have been the best option because your parents were looking forward to that day it gives them joy too.

You needed to watch your investments, day trading or just investment monitoring? even a day traders take some breaks from crypto to attend to their real-world activities and events they get some rest to balance their life, you should do it with your mobile phone or laptop during the graduation ceremony if you badly needed to watch your portfolio, crypto is always there don't miss rare life opportunities.

Graduation ceremony is a very important event to most people and most parents too. I think its bad you didn't attend and was watching your investments 24/7. You should strategize and apportion time for doing crypto business. It should not take all of your time.

Bruh. You should've just lay down the crypto life for just a day and attend your grad ceremony. It only happens once in your lifetime (or maybe not, if you decided to take another degree). Since you are asking if its a bad decision, I'd have to say it indeed was. But of course, its your life so do what makes you happy.

Lols, your graduation is a once in a lifetime event, and you can trade the next day after your graduation. Comon grow up dude, you can get the same profit the next day. If worried, hedge all your funds to USDT.

There nothing wrong with that. But better to attend social events like this than just focusing on bitcoin so that there will be a balance with your personal life and bitcoin. As what the early comments sa, do have a life.

Lets see the side of your parents, your decision.

Lets see the side of your parents. We all know that the only thing their children want is to graduate and you disappointed them. If I am the parent, I will feel angry and disappointed for you because you didn't attend the graduation ceremony.

Now lets see your decision. You choose the Forum just to see your investment which is a DUMB move. Yes a super duper DUMB move, you can track your investment using your mobile phone. You can read threads using your mobile phone. Its ok if you just attend the ceremony and didn't listen but you've just made the worst decision you ever made and I feel sorry for you.

I will never do that if I am at your position right now but you have done it. Just move on and think of the next move I think.

Congrats!!! You are a graduate now but no diploma  Wink

I think so you are spending too much time in crypto investments. I mean that’s a good thing that you are earning profits from it but dude, you couldn’t have even one day off from it? The high profile job also grants this amount freedom. I think you should have gone to you graduation ceremony. Also I would suggest you that a regular job is more important and investments can be done on part-time basis.

Parents like to see their kids get up the stage in their graduation gown. You have chosen poorly. They waited years for that moment, only to be disappointed because of something that you also can do while in the auditorium.

There's still a valid question to ask: is the ceremony important to him. Sure, you don't graduate every day, but you also don't go running naked in the snow. That doesn't mean you should do it. It's pointless to ask people here for answers. Nobody will tell you if it's a good idea because nobody can tell how important these things are for you.
It's like asking random people if you should eat a strawberry or vanilla ice cream. That's for you to decide!

After hard work and long time of sacrifice to finish your study and that time that you give happiness to your parents and say to them thank you, I would say that you've done a wrong decision.

I think it was a bad choice to for you to choose your investments over your graduation ceremony and that maybe one of the reasons why your parents think what you are doing is a scam. You can always check your investments when the ceremony is over, it won't go away but your graduation ceremony is your parents pride and somewhat an achievement for them that their children have graduated.

Actually the action you choose is correct 'because what determines the success or failure of a business is ourselves ... it's just that you haven't gotten the trust from parents about your work entirely in cryptocurrency investment. so reveal at the right moment your conscience to him...

crypto always stay there do not miss rare life opportunities. Lets see the face of your parents. If I were a parent, I would feel angry and frustrated because you did not attend the graduation ceremony. You choose Forum only to see your investment is a DUMB move. You can read the topic using your mobile phone. I would never do that if I was in your position right now but you did it. Congratulations!!!

You can't undo what you had made, and the graduation ceremony is part of it, since you had missed it, you shouldn't regret later in your life. I think it is most regrettable to miss this important day.

Although crypto currency is something that is promising, but devoting all of our time just for it, is certainly not very good. Everything that is done excessively will surely have a negative impact on us and it can affect those who closest to us as well. Do your crypto stuffs but don't forget the other things in your life!

Lol, just similar issue with mine the truth is that it really hard to understand or even explain to people that crypto users are not scam, in my country all they believe is when you are using system are into scam. Partaking in the issue of leaving your graduation it get me interested what is celebration when there is no fund.

Do not be a cryptocurrency addict. Enjoy your life and create good memories today.  It is wrong to miss your graduation over bitcoin. Bitcoin will be there for you any time but your graduation comes only ones

You've been in school for almost 1 and half decade and then you just missed the one and last important event of your life. Well things might messed up that day but there's  always a way. Like you can do both like brinv your phone with you then do the transaction through your phone or laptop during ceremony  you'll only be called 1 time so not that destructing for you. Well i hope you didn't regret what you chose.

Yes it is , because studying is one of your priority. In fact you can use bitcoin when you have extra time. You cant bring back the time when you graduate while you can just monitor bitcoin anytime. Well its up to you but I hope you realize your priorities because your parents work hard just for you to graduate.

I am not sure what you chose as it seems this thread wast posted months ago but I am the one choosing, I would choose to walk in my graduation ceremony. Graduation Day is a once in a lifetime experience and considered an achievement by many. Bitcoin, meanwhile, will always be here. I am not saying that you abandon your investments over some ceremony, but a few hours may not hurt... hopefully.

Are you a day trader mate, where you have that much gain a day as you are choosing crypto over your graduation ceremony? I think you just mishandled your time management where you can do trader later that time after that ceremony. Full time trader could make huge of money if you have good strategy but I think you've missed the most important part of your studies and that is the graduation ceremony that will only happen once. You may experience it again though you need another years for a second course but yeah as long as you will get the important papers it's okay.

So your friends graduated last December 17, 2017 and here you are asking if you'll attend your graduation ceremony? So therefore you can't attend anymore since it already end. Idk I just have this feeling that you're just making all of these to have a topic. Spare me please. Huh

I will not blame your decision, however life is a choice and it has become your choice. You should be ready to accept whatever the consequences without you having to be burdened with guilt. But a little advice from me, try managing your time, joining the cripto world does not mean you have to leave your real life, keep education is a priority and yesterday's event in my opinion that the most important event that you should prioritize is a historical event in your life I think, there are many ways that can be done so that investment in cripto does not take your time, now you live smart Of course, don't ignore important things in your life, especially when it comes to education and your family, because that will cause regret when you lose all of that

Not that bad but it is bad decision to make over graduation ceremony. Graduation only happen to you once in your life, so grab it and treasure and make yourself happy that you'll graduate with honor. You can do multi tasking if you want like doing talk while waiting your name to be call. Also if you really don't like to attend your grad ceremony then just get the certificate later on.

Your Graduation happens only once, it is a result of years of studies. Your parents may be upset because that is something they look forward in your life, specially if they are the ones who helped you in your studies.its a way aldo of appreciating them.  You could have cheered them up by attending to it for few hours and later on be backed to your investments.  Since things happened already, to deal also with your guilt feelings, ask for apology to your parents. I believe it is also the way to fix your relationship with them and later on you might be able to explain bitcoin and cryptocurrency to them and win them to support you. Remember too that Bitcoin investment is good but at the end of things that might happen in your life, lets say you lose your investments, it’s your family that will be there for you. I hope I was able to help.

I think every job requires our dedication but not to the extent on missing out on life's milestones. Your worry over your investments and looking after them as rigid as possible is quite remarkable, but do not forget that life is meant to be lived.

Cryptocurrency was created to make things (and life of course) to be a bit more simpler, in fact most of the digital advancement made by man was supposed to do that. And if cryptocurrency is making you a prisoner of your digital realm, i suggest you find a way to break free as early as possible.

Find a healthy balance between your bread & butter and real life surroundings. And as the old adage goes, take time to smell the flowers ... while you can.

If you are convinced you did the right thing, then who are we to blame you!? Everything has its time and we should always set our priorities right. Do what is right at the right time when its rightly  needed. Still you have the right right to choose on what to do.

It’s great to have such a dedicated attitude. I agree, that the ceremony is just a formality, which does not change the course of your life. But in general, you will only benefit from, your education, work experience and other activities besides cryptocurrencies. Diversification should be considered also in the matters like your “time investment”. Try different things and find the one you can do best. Never stop learning. And yes, prioritize wisely. Good luck!

I think the graduation ceremony is important because it's done once in a lifetime, and you can still monitor crypto market conditions by looking at applications on your cellphone. I'm sure it's an easy thing, leaving only 3 hours for the graduation ceremony after that return to monitor the market.

it certainly is
you should invest in your education and self-develpoment more time than in anything else
including reading bitcointalk and watching your trading investments Smiley
seems like you do not know how to prioritize things in your life just yet , but you are still young and will learn
once you realise that money is something secondary ,you will see things differently

You are very dedicated in crypto. You have my respect but you have made the wrong move. You should attended your graduation ceremony. Your investment can wait. You will be gone for hours only but your investment will not. A graduation ceremony is a once in a lifetime event, you should not skip it.

If you prefer to engage in indirect interaction and you away while you doing activities, then something is wrong with you, it could be a FOMO. This usually infect traders, especially if you come to sacrifice a very valuable moment in your life, you can still continue your study but you may not be able to meet and reunite with them, your friends who study together, sharing feelings and moments with you. You are not the annoying and antisocial person, aren’t you?

It is good for you to take care of your investment, it is your money after all. But seem to me like you didn't go to your graduation because you didn't want to and you're making an excuse for it. Even if your investment drop, you can't do something about it, because you won't sell it either otherwise you'll lose your money. So why do you have to make yourself busy and losing a once in a lifetime moment in your life.

I agree. Choosing working on bitcoin over graduation ceremony makes you regret beside you can do both because working with bitcoin do not need all of your time. It is about time management. It is good when you find first to finish your education above all because that will make your family proud of you and that is dream come true even for them. You can work on what you want after you graduate because you have all yourself and you can decide on your own for your own good. For me, education is the first priority beside it is about graduation that only happens once in life.

Do you feel regret right now? That is the most important thing right now for you i guess. I think you don't have regrets now because you have chosen this way. And i can say that you are very good business man because you wouldn't leave your work and stayed with them. I am sure you will make lots of money in  the near future with crypto, good luck.

Well it's your decision my friend to not attend your graduations because you'r keep on busy spending your time to monitor the price value of bitcoin in the market because you invest your money in bitcoin and you want to earn more money. And it's all ready done so just move on and continue to focus your investment in crypto currency.

Have read this thread before, but I didn't had the chance to reply since I was busy with something, the word 'GRADUATE' happens almost 3-4 times in our life, and I think it shouldn't be ignored, it is something valuable, now in my opinion you should have attended it, but I know that you have your own reasons and that is why I cannot completely disagree with you, anyways goodluck to you my friend.

BIG WINNER!

Yes it is bad when you choose bitcoin and bitcointalk forum over your graduation because education is very important now and it is the key to be successful and not here in cryptocurrency.

Well that reallu sucks. Graduation only happens in such very special day/days. Most memorable moments happened there so why did you ditched that day for bitcoin? But for some reason, we do not really know what you feel on that moment so we can not really blame you 100%.

Your parents wanted you to have education and graduate - which you did. They also want you to have a good job and be wealthy, which you actually are trying to do. It's not a biggie that you didn't attend the graduation, but them not supporting you here , - is.
