The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

A sexy nurse! http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii283/hokageaddict/hot-japanese-nurse-1.jpg

But seriously at least they're being contained into one section now, I think you're right in maybe that we need a whole section for ponzi schemes though.

Creating a extra sub-forum just for ponzi's could be a good idea I never thought of that.

Agreed! The Leancy HYIP (ponzi) is being marketed as a legitimate business all over the forums as well, somewhat disturbing.

What is wrong with this? ponzis are gambling and are in the right sub-forum.

It is called a Ponzi "Scheme" because it is not a gambling game, but a Scheme to bilk "investors" out of money.

Creating a extra sub-forum just for ponzi's could be a good idea I never thought of that.

I'm glad you reversed yourself quickly.

The sub-forum from gambling would be a mis-categorization, but any split from our regular marketplace/gambling is much, much needed.

People who deposits into this scheme are often the same, most of the money is deposited by people that "know" what they are doing : they are gambling hoping to get some profits before it stops
The fact is that the first investors can get a lot of money

It is obvious that some depositors don't know what they are doing and think it is an ''investment'' but it is a minority and small deposits

Full disclosure: I'm currently developing my own ponzi site.

Ponzis which are not clearly described as a ponzi should be removed without fail. In my opinion, Ponzis are just another form of gambling; some win but the majority to lose, Just like any other gamble.

Well it's certainly a gamble putting your money in them. Maybe having a section for Ponzis/pyramids or other HYIP would be a good idea, and maybe putting a warning on the forum like there is Securities.

We have a place for those threads already. Games and Rounds. It was placed there because of the chaos created by spreadsheet ponzi's and all sorts of craziness created in October(ish) of 2011. I lost a lot of money... lol

I agree.

IMO Gambling and poker websites are perfect examples of good usage of bitcoin. Most governments want to control all gambling/poker websites (like USA banning all pokersites including freezing millions of peoples money.) Bitcoin gives us the freedom to just have that fun (and job for some better poker players.)

Ponzi's are obviously just a scam. Most threads even imply "guaranteed payouts" and call it "investments" (investing in what? lol)
Quote
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from existing capital or new capital paid by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation.
Quote
A high-yield investment program (HYIP) is a type of Ponzi scheme, an investment scam that promises unsustainably high return on investment by paying previous investors with the money invested by new investors.

Hoping to not get scammed is not gambling. If that would be the case then "newbies buying bitcoin for PayPal" should be also in the Gambling section, because maybe you will get your money and maybe you will be scammed.

I think the "Gambling" section was a decent presentation of the gambling websites in the bitcoin community. But when the list includes so many sketchy ponzi schemes it is just embarrassing the whole bitcoin gambling scene.

I do like freedom and if idiots do want to join ponzi schemes that is ok, but better in a different forum.

AGreed, please move them to games and rounds (even though I think they should basically be not allowed).  In any case they shouldn't be in gambling, it's making it impossible for "regular" sites to have threads and get activity.

Even more are opening up every day and clogging the site up and most of them don't have replies because people know it's going to end up bad.

I do think the Ponzis should have a sub-board in the gambling section. Put a warning saying "SITES MAY SCAM! BE CAUTIOUS!" on it for Newbies.
