This time the idea is a helping hand. Lower to higher order: => 300 At first look, I didn't recognised that it's a hand, after reading the above quote where you said that it's a hand and looked again at the image. I still can't recognise that it is a hand. I don't know why but I'm pretty sure that my eyes are working fine. It seems like a yellow person looking at some sort of files in his hand and in side view. Though, I love those stars of yours more than these hands They're quite simple and looks good. I thought it was a foetus. I like this idea. Pacman is quite quirky.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions! Makes me want to make several more badges for different things, though I don't know what they'd be for.
Will it be announced to all "such as rank coins" or appear in certain boards "trust system and technical badges"? I hope that each board "Especially local boards" has a dedicated badge based on the highest reports in that board

So far this is my favorite. I personally had been trying to find images that would resemble, April O'neil for 300, Spiderman for 1000, and Superman for 5000; but I failed. Then in a slightly combative mood I found these 3 300 1000 5000 Images were found here.

I think that I'm going to add some badges for people who report a bunch of posts. Maybe one for 300 good reports, one of 1000, and one for 5000. Does anyone want to make or find these images? They have to be exactly 16x16 px (like ), and if you find them online, then they must be copyright-free. In addition to the icons, a good incentive to facilitate the work of "reporters" would be to include them in the whitelist with at least 100 good reports. Because the delay in writing reports is sometimes very disturbing.

I think a badger for 1000 or 2000 or whatever merits is unnecessary. I think it's too early for this. I doubt theymos is going to introduce a badge for which only he qualifies (>2000), with only satoshi reaching the badge for 1000+. It's something to strive for. No point adding something that everybody is going to have or get straight away. It would be meaningless then. Merit is still young and it won't be that long before some people start reaching it, but for those that do it should be rewarded with a badge (and possibly some other privileges should come along with it). Agreed, that would be better. However, I've suggested this before in other threads, and it didn't get implemented. That's why I tried the second best option: a "banned badge".
Plenty of things have been suggested by numerous people to try combat a wide variety of issues, but rarely anything gets implemented that is suggested whether it's a good idea or not. It's annoying when users sometimes report It's useless work for the user too, and would safe all parties time if it can be prevented. If that time can be used to report others, the banned tag can actually help cleaning the forum. It's a waste of everyone's time. Not sure why it would be much of deal to alert people that a user is banned. Many other forums have such a feature. I've seen ones before that change their rank to banned, or even change their avatar to a prohibited sign: I think a badger for 1000 or 2000 or whatever merits is unnecessary. Merit already shows off in your profile. And the forum's discussions are too focused on merit already.
Badges could try to move the attention somewhere else...
Maybe something more bitcoin related. A community helper badger? I see some users like bob123 that are always helping users in the Technical Support board....
You could say the same thing about the rank badges. Rank is already displayed so why do we need the coins? Also, who gets to decide who is 'helpful' or not for the "community helper" badge? What do you measure helpfulness in? Why not let merit be the decider of that? If someone is getting a ridiculous amount of merit then I think it's safe to say that they're pretty helpful or are a worthwhile contributor. Why wouldn't the "community helper" badge also "move the attention somewhere else"?

That would lead to people creating fake posts to report, just to be awarded with whitelisted accounts, which in turn they would sell.

Merit sources aren't publicly known or listed for good reasons. People would likely hassle them for merits etc.

I like the pacman one. But would it result in legal problems related to copyright ?
Highly unlikely, but IANAL. First, I don't think that a tiny icon with a humorous reference to a classic video game may be considered a breach of copyright at all. Second, Namco opened the rights to Pac-Man and a few other games a while ago, explicitly allowing artwork that would usually fall under "derivative works": https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-03-31/bandai-namco-opens-rights-to-pac-man-80s-game-properties/.86558

Namco opened the rights to Pac-Man and a few other games a while ago, explicitly allowing artwork that would usually fall under "derivative works" Yes, but this concerns the development of video games based on that universe, not the use of a character design in a whole. Also these "derivative works" need to be registered somewhere in Namco's halls and their creators should pay the "tribute" if the game is commercial (or allow the ads): Developers and game companies will be required to register with Bandai Namco Games and apply for the use of the properties before beginning development, but the company plans to approve all applications on principle unless the game contains offensive content. ( animenewsnetwork.com) Bandai Namco Games will receive a small percentage of sales for companies who apply to use the intellectual property to develop a paid game. The company is also planning an advertising scheme for developers making free games, with Bandai Namco also receiving a small percentage of ad revenue. ( animenewsnetwork.com) Also Google said, it's highly possible that Pacman is registered as trademark. In that case anyone who would use it's depiction without permission can be sued. Though it depends on the degree the new character resembles the original Pacman and what the new character's created for, but all of this would have to be proven in court if the copyright holder won't appreciate the parody. I just assume that it's risky and may require more actions rather then just draw a picture. = 300 good report = 1000 good report = 5000 good report In fact before I saw the original image, I thought that I'm looking at frying pan.:) 300 good report 1000 good report 5000 good report Actually that icon is more suitable for libraries or pocket book applications. Interesting variant - especially when it's single.

I report PM-beggars to Admin, hoping they get banned. PM beggars also risk getting added to the ignore list, or receiving red trust. It doesn't happen much anyway, beggars must be extremely dumb to risk their account for a few Merit points. Becouse I actually don't knows how many people in this forum "merit source". 83
