Beacause bitcoin is like gold. 99% of other coins are just speculative tools for whales to increase amount of bitcoin. Current investors are so blind screaming HODL HODL and showing etherum, ripple growing faster than bitcoin. But just jump to Historical Snapshots from for example 2013. Which coins from top 50 are still on market.

And those are coins from top 10! It means that if it will happend again 6/10 coins from top 10 (eth, bth, eos, stellar, iota, tron) will be on 90% loss Ripple will have 200% profit and Litecoin 50%, cardano 400%(just example). In that time bitcoin will made next 1000%

Now you know why hodl is worst option and when it comes to investing there is only bitcoin? 1/10 from top 10 coin was better than bitcoin. If you would spread your capital equal to top 10 your potfolio would be on lost (on crypto market where whole market made 20 000%. You can still trade and earn on alts. But investing and hodling is like buying ticket in lottery.

We like bitcoin not because its obvious. We like bitcoin because it has best infrastructure, hype, community developing it, decentralization, usage, largest perspective. Others are here and wont be in next year after.

Because Bitcoin is the number one crypto. Mostly, people will try to invest in that first before any crypto. But indeed other crypto could also give you much gains as investing in Bitcoin.

Exactly! I agree with this. There is no real intrinsic backing for a lot of these coins, just a bunch of bros in their basements with computers who think they can get rich quick. Bitcoin is not so vulnerable to manipulation so it cannot be pumped and dumped so easily. The large volume makes it more robust inevitably so it can stand on its own without swinging violently from top to bottom.

Hopefully we'll see some more coins with structure and vision to come. There are some honest investors out there who want to use the concept for doing good.

this is a bit misleading though because you are looking at their USD value where in fact you should have checked their BTC value. most people are investing in these coins with bitcoin and don't care about their USD which is why whenever there is a bitcoin rise these coins keep their BTC value more or less and show rise in term of USD where in reality there was no rise.

Though most of these coins in the top 10 have a great community backing it up, the ability to bounce back higher after a great deficit is what separates bitcoin from most cryptocoins. Also, a lot of deep pockets and influential people are getting their hands wet on this market, so it gives us a wider audience for the coin and a huge number of traders participating, possibly eliminating the control of the whales in the process. Also, it's recognized and regulated in a lot of countries already, which gives enough confidence to the end-users to not get fucked up by exchanges in case they wanted to go Mintpal or Mt. I too get myself attached to bitcoin becausw of its great history when it comes to the market and value increase. We all know that holding is a great option aswell by holding it much more time.

It can be used if it's a P2P transaction similar to the barter model. Sure, it's not that practical, but it still functions quite well if someone is making larger payments once in a while, such as for services rendered.

It may not be perfectly anonymous, but it's not easily traceable either. If you did something illegal with it, I'm sure they would go through the effort to find you without hesitation. But if there's no active reason to target you, they can't exactly go around trying to dig up who is behind every transaction. There's way to much data to swim through. That's why some people can use it to send money for small-medium transactions abroad and avoid having to claim it.

It is not really complicated to know why people prefer to invest in bitcoin than to invest in altcoins, most altcoins are either copies of another project or just useless coins created to enrich the developers and nothing more, so even if bitcoin is expensive and it cannot give you profits like an altcoin could, the profits you can get out of bitcoin are still incredible, just last year if you you bought in January of 2017 and sold in December of 2017 you could have gotten 20x your investment, do you know how long you would need to wait to get those kind of profits in real estate or stocks? You will never get those profits with stocks and you will be lucky to get those profits with real estate in 20 or 30 years.

There are many reasons to choose bitcoin over altcoins but the most obvious is that many altcoins are simply scams and even if I were to earn money with alts I will be worried that the coin goes to zero while I'm holding it, and since I already have enough worries in my life I'm not going to add even more worries when what I want out my investments is that they gave security to me.

You can see that the market is fluctuating continuously, bitcoin prices are constantly adjusting and rebounding strongly in the past days, so I believe that at this time you should only invest in bitcoin. Although investment in bitcoin is not as profitable as other altcoins, it's a lot safer, the price of bitcoin is uptrend in the short term. Now you know why hodl is worst option and when it comes to investing there is only bitcoin? 1/10 from top 10 coin was better than bitcoin. If you would spread your capital equal to top 10 your potfolio would be on lost (on crypto market where whole market made 20 000%. You can still trade and earn on alts. But investing and hodling is like buying ticket in lottery.
