TAXICOIN (TAXI) : An Alternate Cryptocurrency for Taxis Worldwide

Launch Time : 6:00PM EST 2/20/2014 [Apologies to those who bore with us for the minor problems at launch.]

**** Please ADD the following nodes if you are experiencing problems ****

addnode=208.68.37.185
addnode=192.241.159.26
addnode=192.241.242.166

Technical Details:

Core: Litecoin v0,8 [Scrypt, AMD GPU Suggested]

Coins issued: 56 Million

Block Time: 90 seconds

Block Reward:

50% of TAXICOINS will be mined in 8 months, During these 8 months the block reward is reduced 3 times, starting at 250, then 125, next 65, and finally 35. The remaining 50% of TAXICOINS will be mined in 12 years, with a block reward reduction every 350,000 blocks (1 year), starting at 20 and reducing by 25%.

SuperBlocks:

There will be superblocks 3 times a day for a 2 week period before and after every block reward reduction, and during the beginning of the coin. The closer to the halving block, the greater the superblock multiplier is, starting at 1x all the way to 18x, and conversely, the further the block halving gets the lesser the superblock multiplier.

Annoucement:

What if there was a better way to pay for your taxi, limo or car service? Imagine never thinking about having cab fare or having your credit card information compromised again…

Welcome to the future of taxi payments - TAXICOIN.

Featuring instantaneous service, security and low fees, TAXICOIN is the most reliable method of payment for any taxicab travel. TAXICOIN aims to position itself as the cryptocurrency of choice for taxi operators.

We believe that Bitcoin (and by extension other cryptocurrencies) are exceptional for storing wealth long term, however as they naturally appreciate in value over time they will be used less and less for day to day transactions. Instead, we envision a future in which TAXICOIN can be quickly and easily purchased with BTC, fiat, or other cryptocurrencies for those who wish to specifically use it for taxi transportation.

Mobile phone usage is quickly outpacing traditional landlines, thus doing away with the need for a proprietary hardware device for both driver and passenger. As in the Bitcoin protocol, double spending and charge backs are impossible thereby providing the driver with the security of knowing once sent, TAXICOINS cannot be reverse-charged or withdrawn by a bank.

The Present: TaxiCoin is currently up and running, please join our pool or contact us for help starting your own.

The Future:

Parents and friends will be able to load TAXICOIN securely onto smartphones for easy payment from rider to drivers.

Hosts of events large or small may transfer TAXICOIN to their guests to facilitate transportation to and from their venues.

Using TAXICOIN as a driver means more security and dramatically lower fees as there is no third party facilitating payment.

Use your TAXICOIN for gift cards with qualified partners to get gas, food, movies, and much more by converting your TAXICOIN into redeemable gift cards and passes.

I actually like the 6 hour retarget. It makes it so the it's not too long of a wait when a large hashrate leaves the network, and at the same time gives a padding for when a large hashrate comes in to the network.

It also balances nicely with the super block period. Ensures that for the 2 week period, people won't just come and go.

I would imagine you could convert your breadcoins to milkcoins, or perhaps convert your trollcoins for whatever you wanted!

put the windows qt in a zip file that is passprotected and allow download 1 hour before launch or it's a scam coin.

Don't worry, we learned the lessons of Maxcoin well.

it would suck if you only had milkcoins and needed to buy bread. they won't take it.
this coin sucks but goodluck with this junk.

Thats a serious and critical point of your whole concept. I wouldnt even be able to take the bus with 1m taxicoins, how ill-conceived is that?? Cheesy
And no, I wont exchange my taxicoins for sth else to take a goddamn bus. And I'm sure nobody else would.

Seems like enough people are ignoring this fact as always so it probably will serve as a okay pumpndump coin as lately there are fewer releases

With all these failed launches and  failed coins the market is going to dry up...there should be some certain guidelines coins have to do before launch so this doesnt happen.

I just had a chance to catch one of the devs and ask what is up. They were working their asses off, there is something up on their end that they are trying to resolve asap. They are not mining it right now as they are all trying to fix this issue. Said they would update asap just didn't want to stop working on issue.

Clearly they were pissed but not giving up which gave me hope. Fuck these launches are insane.

They should schedule a re-launch. This coin has potential if they had a reasonable launch.

I thought you had to have wallet synched to cpu mine too?

if you want to gpu mine - you need to fix the checkpoints.cpp file and remove all but the first line of checkpoints and add a block from the taxicoin chain...

if not, you can use "setgenerate true" to cpu mine

For some reason the pool isnt properly keeping track of the shares submitted. They're in the database, just not represented on the frontend
Everyone will get their deserved coins, don't worry. Currently there is 190K in the pool wallet

There was no premine. During the problems at the beginning there was a NETWORK hashrate of a couple of khash from people who just left their CPUs, hardly a very effective premine.

Pool is back up and running.

Yes, it is a fail on our side for the lack of wallets, but their on their way

How hard is it to make wallets BEFORE you launch?  Huh

"You have exceeded the pools configured TAXI warning threshold. Please initiate a transfer!"

How can users initiate transfer when there is no wallet or exchange to transfer to?  Angry

They have a bounty for the windows wallet ... they should've advertised that prior to launch and gotten a completed wallet BEFORE launch. They shot themselves in the foot with that one.

It's alright guys, I can't even begin to comprehend how to start my own altcoin and you guys made it this far.  Just let this one go and start anew.  I'm sure you've learned from your experiences and will only make the coin stronger on relaunch or use this for another awesome coin idea.

The Windows wallet we ran into something of a snag with, but it is forthcoming for sure. Everything else seems to have sorted out. For now we have a bounty on it, so if someone manages to compile a windows wallet before us we would then obviously pay that out (or Mac, for that matter).

I can compile it - but it just won't work, though I relinked libraries against their new locations. Still need to figure out how to properly release new wallets on mac. Sorry.

So who got the 1200 blocks x 250 coins?  That is 300,000 coins.

florianuhlemann probably, he was able to fix the source first.

Will be nice if this gets to an exchange, people are trading their 10 and 100 coins, and then comes someone and dumps 150 000.

I didn't. There was another one who kept getting blocks as I didn't.
To be fair: I posted how to fix it as soon as I know it was the fault causing it. Trying to make launches as fair as possible for all.

And that was very nice of you to post the fix so OP was able to fix it as well. Sorry to hear you weren't able to fully capitalize on your work well done - hopefully OP will donate you a nice amount.

Issue remains, now a huge % of the coins are in hands of someone who most likely just wants to turn them into BTCs as soon as possible. Worse than having a premine. If he is smart and patient, he will dump little by little and doesn't kill the coin. But just the knowledge that anytime there could appear a huge amount of coins on the sell side will keep the prices low for a very long time.

No Wallets from the official website, the pool they recommend currently has findblocks disabled. Not available on any exchange, Zero feedback from either the coin issuers or the pool

Not a great start, I'll soon be number 1 in contributed hashrate on that pool Sad

Your coin should eventually show up, if you want faster pay mine from the following P2Pool:

Address:  http://54.194.250.47:9400
username - (your wallet address)
password - (any password can go here)

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://54.194.250.47:9400 -u TE8XecXjTwyFkdvg5aiKTHTs8DB4ADqmDr -p x

hi i has crash while open wallet with windows 7 64bit this is the error microsoft visualc++ runtime library "this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"
That windows-qt wallet crashes when i use the RPC console. RPC commands work fine with my headless version. Perhaps this has a bad library reference too like the mac-qt.

Mine crashes when I close it - but it runs fine until that point.

What wallet you using? I downloaded windows, added the nodes listed, and it has been working perfectly since 2am or whenever they posted it.

Can you try starting fresh with your wallet?

are you using linux or windows, or mac.

If your using linux the source has just been updated to include checkpoints, just started up a new node, and everything synced fine

I'm interested in getting involved in the development side of cryptocurrency especially this one very ideal for the taxi industry. I'd love to create one in the back of my mind one day so looking for experience.

If you have any positions, bounties or just generally need some help with anything design in particular the logo, just let me know. Thanks. Best of luck to the coin.

Don't use only single pool. It's bad for network, don't forget 51% attack.

Something I worked up while I was waiting for your response. Actually looks pretty similar to the ones you posted.

This logo is great. I wonder why taxicoin plan to promote itself - some bounties and clean post of the laund will help.

That headless version has working console commands, but it has no gui. So you have to choose between "non-qt with console commands" or "qt without console commands".

Yes having difficulties with the wallet and block chain.

51% attack wouldn't happen unless it is on exchanges and has traction

plenty of time for things to even out in that manner.

As per the DEVs request, we opened a pool.

Per your post, I pointed my miners toward this pool, and I am getting these errors:

JSON decode failed(1); '[' or '{' expected near 'HTTP'
JSON decode failed(1); '[' or '{' expected near 'Server'

My bat file:
cudaminer --algo=scrypt -o stratum+tcp://taxi.allpoolz.com:8080 -u Raven.Raven -p mypassword

I am using this same bat file at three other pools, and have no problems with it. Would you let me know if I need to change something, or if it's a server side conf error? I assume that since I see no other workers there, it may be an issue.

Thanks!

Use p2pool and have no trouble. Like this yourpool.pw:9400 stratum+tcp://taxi.yourpool.pw:9400 -u your_wallet_address -p any

I'll be pointing 10Mh/s back to taxicoin in the next hour or 2.

google showing hidden files in your os and if you are in windows you go here

c:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\~coinname

Once in there you put the .conf file in there. If you can't find it in the package then you can take a .conf file from another coin, copy it into that roaming folder, rename it to taxicoin and edit it in textedit, all you need in it are those add nodes they have posted on the website

Is someone mining this coin at all?

It is a very good idea for a coin but seems not much promotion and interest? I wonder why? Is it so hard the developers to give bounty to people with marketing skills or?

Should shoot to get on this exchange:

https://xnigma.com/

New, but coming along very nicely. They seem open to adding more coins, at a decently fast rate too.

Is the windows wallet ever going to be fixed? The coin is going to die out if it is not.

It crashes if you try and use any console commands, or solo mine. It also crashes when you close it, and also opens up 12 instances of itself when it does so.
