Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I accept the nominations for Marketing fund and so I apply for that position.

I've been a part of NXT since early December 2013 and immediately became a active and involved member of the community. Due to this I was made global moderator over at Nextcoin.org and voted in as lead organizer for our first attempt at getting marketing going over there. But there was one problem: no funds for bounties.
But we did still get things going and the first infographics, videos, articles, logo, slogans, bitcoin conference etc. was organized and succesful.
Me and Nifty also started a volunteer questionaire where a lot of talented people applied for NXT projects, but again we were completley lacking any sort of funding and so we had to turn quite a few of them down. This time with a marketingfund I can see A LOT being done.

My reasoning for choosing NXT was simple. I took a look at the ongoing projects and only NXT stood out as interesting. All the others were simply copypasting Bitcoin and so I knew they would never become anything big. So I invested the little savings I had into NXT and dedicated myself fully to the coin. It's also one of the main reasons I started looking into cryptos. I'm not only here for personal gains (but a mans got to eat too!), but I love the revolution that is taking place. I felt that Bitcoin with the Bitcoin foundation sucking up to governments and big banks had lost it's rebellious way and it felt natural that NXT who took it to a whole new level was the place to get in early.

I also organize the NXT swarm group (30+ people) which already has got us on several exchanges.
Also eSports showmatch(es) that gained us thousands of viewers.
Also moderator on nextcoin, nxtcrypto and /r/nxt
Also communicating with different authors on different websites who will write articles about NXT
Also keep intouch with quite a few talented people who can help out with NXT in other ways
etc. etc.

I am also applying for the NXTtechdevfund.

I'm an engineer with 12 years programming experience in developing web applications. I've also got extensive experience as a FreeBSD system administrator, having set up and currently managing dozens of servers.

I have developed and I'm currently hosting the (open source) Reddit NXT tipping bot. I have recently been "punished" with moderator privileges to the NXT subreddit (thanks guys  Smiley). I have set up a few NXT public nodes, and will continue to do so.

I am also developing (along with a colleague) a new online NXT service that will be announced soon and will be the first of it's kind (the project will be irrelevant to this funding commitee, but I'm obliged to mention it here.)

I hope to share my experience to the rest of the NXT community, as well as learn from the more experienced ones. I love NXT, I believe it has huge potential and I'll say my piece whenever I think I have to add something insightful to a discussion.

Hey guys, good luck to all. I am not applying, but i made this, and posted it on the main thread, but it might get lost, so i'll post it here aswell.
I believe it will help get more people involved with the vote quicker. i'll also post it on or reddit page, if you have tweeters & facebooks & all that social stuff, maybe pass it around?

Thanks for sharing, good luck to all nominees.

I apply for the NXTtechdevfund. I have been working on the Nxt code since Dec 25, 2013, and have taken it from a single java file to where it is now. I am much more comfortable writing code than managing projects, but I will certainly have an opinion about the directions in which the Nxt core should be developed, and so I should be involved in deciding what projects make sense to be funded, and estimating the efforts needed to complete a project given the current state of the Nxt core.

I'm applying for the NxtMarketing committee.

Prior Experience

Feather

- I was part of the original handful of people that helped organize and promote Feathercoin
- I implemented swarm teams back in April (which I later applied to both Peercoin and Nxt)
- I handled project management, team organization and most interaction with media
- I create the system for handling Bitcoin Conferences last summer which was utilized with NiftyNikel for Nxt
- I helped create (with NiftyNikel) the first Feathercoin video and jingles

Peercoin

- When I left Feathercoin, I was invited to lead marketing and organization initiatives by Peercoin's chief architect Sunny King
- I helped restructure their marketing and implemented the use of tiered swarms to launch initiatives
- I setup all interviews for Sunny King (I've been also interviewed quite a bit along side of him)
- I worked with the crypto sector to implement Peercoin on a number of exchanges and merchant services
- I spent quite a bit of time helping find the unique talents of forum members and help them accomplish community objectives
- I've interviewed with the WSJ, NYTimes etc...   I've made a lot of contacts along the way
- Not only attended a Bitcoin Conference on behalf of Peercoin, also assisted others on how to make the most of their time
- Created the merchant integration form letters

Current Experience

Nxt

- I started the original swarm teams (currently at over 60 members)
- I helped bring aboard talent that have been successfully with other communities such as NiftyNikel
- I trained NiftyNikel on how to effectively network at Bitcoin Conferences
- I've helped coordinate articles/interviews for both Coindesk and Bitcoin Magazine
- Formed the charity drive for Songs of Love and handled the interview for KSRP33 - TV

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehrIvLJXcsE
http://www.kspr.com/news/local/Community-Closeup-Raising-money-to-inspire-kids/21051620_24582392

- I have a local group of 15 people that I brought into Nxt as their first experience to crypto
- I brought Nxt to Trekcon which will expose Nxt to a few thousand new people in person as well as media and merchants
- I'm a co-founder of CoinTropolis. We donate hours each day on getting the word out about Nxt
- Continued communication with Cryp2cash since the Miami Bitcoin Conference, we'll be added in the coming weeks
- Lead continual swarms on exchanges
- Nikel and I helped get Nxt coverage in Spiegel:

http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/alternativen-zu-bitcoin-kryptowaehrungen-boomen-a-955763.html

Other

- I've worked with marketing departments quite a bit in the years I held CIO/Director of Education positions

"... The Nxt community is the most compassionate group
that we have so far come across in the cryptocurrency world. We are eternally grateful to you John for spearheading this most amazing campaign. We will be delighted to bring Nxt in at the 5,000 sponsorship level and we will be giving you the full back page of our event program as well as top billing on our event web site at www.songsoflove.org/LA. Please provide us with the logo you would like to see displayed on our site and event program. I addition, I was so moved by your effort that I still want to come up with the Nxt theme song. I would like to work with you on the various elements you'd like included in the lyrics of the song. You can reach out to me for a discussion about this.

I will be back from LA on March 14 and can get on with creating the Nxt theme song at that time." - John Beltzer, Songs of Love

References

I have quite a few references from Peercoin and Feathercoin

Agreed, but if they don't repay I say we spam all over that they stole from us and is utterly incompetent for not even being able to put NXT on their exchange like so many other exchanges.

Nah, the reddit hatred for NXT is ridiculous
The guy claime we artifically kept NXT off exchanges on purpose to increase the price. As someone who is wokringhard and already succeeded in getting NXT on several exchanges, I will not tolerate that.

Again you are quoting out of context like a cuniving idiot.

Yeah, mintpal took pay to implement NXT on their exchange and then they said "NAH TOO COMPLICATED FUC KYOU" and didn't pay back. Of course that calls for public ridicule, it's about warning other people to not get their money stolen by fraudsters. Notice that I said *IF* they don't pay back.

As for the other guy: I aready adressed this, you can speak once you have dealt with people like this 500 times

Hi guys, Arckam (aka frmelin), applying for the NXTtechdevfund committee

I’m impressed by the people proposing their help, they all have done so much already for the community.

A note about the committee I'm applying for : I initially declared I would like to be part of the marketing one. However, after reading the goals and the other participants' posts, I believe I can bring more value in the tech fund. Why? Because I'm not a pure tech guy :-)

I intend to make the community benefit from my presence on three axis :
  • Helping to get us focused on doing the right projects
  • Helping to get the projects we select done right
  • Helping spreading the word around NXT.

I believe in mutual benefit between projects who needs funding and NXT community. It can be achieved only from sound and solid fundamentals. Things such as what does the project bring us? How does the financials look like? Are they sound? Is the team as strong as it should? Is it the right time for that project? How will the market we aim for react? How could we help that project being successful? I aim at bringing my 10 years professional experience in large & complex project elaboration, delivery, and evaluation to the community.

I also believe in stewardship. Some people have great ideas, others know the technical needed to get them done… and some others know how to organize things around all that. While I would love to be from the first type, I’m more from the third type. I’m first and foremost a catalyst. Someone able to help the dreamers achieve their vision. Someone who like to help the doers obtaining what they need to get the things done. I would like to be the guy oiling the wheels of the projects we selected.

Finally I intend to offer some of my time in promoting NXT as a (news / article / analysis) writer. I write for my pleasure initially. Providing written, quality, content on a regular basis would be my little extra.

I discovered NXT in early January. I came to it after having invested into Bitcoin because I felt Bitcoin was missing a little something. I couldn’t tell what, but I started looking at what else existed.  After having read about many alts, I bumped into NXT thanks to Superresistant (a French speaking community member) who gave some hints into NXT. Since then, I never stop believing it had a huge potential.

From a personal note, I'm 32, living in Brussels, heart of Europe. I’m a native French speaker and speak English, as well as some Dutch. I’m working as a manager in a large consulting firm, working primarily (but not only) in the Financial sector. Last but not least, I’m also the happy father of two sons, who keep hearing about my crazy dreams for the financial world they will live in tomorrow… :-)

Hope to talk to you all guys very soon !

Cheers!
Fr.

I have had it with you salsacz. Your betrayal and manipulative bullshit is just beyond disgusting and in violation of the spirit of decentralization.
2 days ago you tried to start drama over a already settled issue regarding a succesful showmatch by bringing it up without any sort of actual information, just to try to start drama. I have informed people about your manipulative ways surrounding this. And mind you this was the day after you had repeatedly asked me to back you in a argument you got into on this forum. It was also just hours after I had asked you about some details regarding the reports that you acted so "puzzled" about eventhough we have had hours of discussions about it on Skype.

Now you go on and dig into my personal reddit account regarding the drama yesterday and try to portray that as "OMG THIS GUY IS OUT OF CONTROL". It is beyond obvious that you have a agenda, to get as much NXT as possible for yourself and try to paint yourself as some sort of worried NXTEr.
How I speak as a private person has nothing to do with NXT, I never represented myself as a "official NXTer" the very idea of that is incredibly dumb. NXT is 100% decentralized and what I say as a private person is 100% up to me. If it had been a official marketing gig then matters would've been different. And also you fail to mention that I was in fullright to ridicule that guy after having made up several lies and called me a scam artist etc.

A simple search on your youtube account shows that you do work for any coin that offers you a tiny amount of payment. You do this out of financial gain only, not because you have any ideological belief in NXT.  Proof: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJlCMt45lPx2J52yxtM-XNA

You are simply a dishonest, twofaced son of a bitch that I used to praise to the community, I vouched for you all the time and helped you get your position in this community and how do you repay me ? By acting like a fucking idiot.
This is baffling behaviour from a man who pretends to be "oh so nice".

Dude.  101nodes, alias redirect, 1000+ cloud servers, 100s of physical servers in a private data center.  I hereby assign you to the infrastructure slate.  Good luck.

There's an interconnected and direct relationship between code and infrastructure. The relationship between the two is really my thing which means I'm just as comfortable coding and debugging NRS related stuff as managing all the server junk and doing it from the perspective of a developer (not IT). Ultimately I see code, infrastructure, and people as the three pillars of a giant holistic system.

But yeah, I do infrastructure.  Grin
