Hey Coin-1, it looks like some of the other members have also managed to rank up. I found that some members had reached Hero rank because their merit and activity were sufficient. Quidat and vv181 are two users who managed to become Hero members in recent weeks. Some of the other members also seem to have made it through the ranks, but I haven't come across them along the way.

As I can see, Quidat has ranked up to a Hero Member about four months ago. He was on the corresponding list since June 25, 2021. vv181 has been added to the logs today.

As far as I can see, you earn merits quite quickly. You have received 200+ merits in the last four weeks. My guess is that people will reward you and carry you to the next magical mark of 3000 merits in the blink of an eye.

It's great to hear that so many users have managed to rankup to their new rank recently. I think because of the merit source added by theymos, the merit system works better for the community. Each quality poster will get a turn to rank up regardless of whether it's sooner or later depending on how actively they post useful things. Congratulations to all who have moved up the ranks. As far as I can see, you earn merits quite quickly. You have received 200+ merits in the last four weeks. My guess is that people will reward you and carry you to the next magical mark of 3000 merits in the blink of an eye.

my goal is that the merits surpass my activity here in the forum and from then on this should remain so, whereby the activity then increases continuously in certain daily intervals

This is a very ambitious goal you set for yourself and I congratulate you for it To have a 1:1 parity between merits and activity (or more merits than activity) is something not very usual, as only very good posters achieved this. It is wise to set high goals as you will try to attend them; but no matter if you succeed or not, at least you don't stagnate. You make steps forward, you better yourself.

I also set this goal for me a while ago and I was very pleased by accomplishing it. After that, I told myself to try to have more merits than posts. I know, this is almost impossible, but by trying to be constantly a good poster you help others, you help yourself too, as you also learn new things during time. No matter if I will ever succeed or not in reaching this goal, having it set in mind only determines me everyday to try to improve myself; and, while doing this, I am also trying to help others, which can also benefit from my knowledge.

When goals have been set, maximum effort should be one way to achieve success. Without maximum effort then I'm sure we will not achieve it because merit is not a miracle that does not require users to try and keep trying.

Afaik, merit will never prevent any of us from rank up unless that user is truly incapable of posting useful for forum and other users. So this should be the basic motivation why we must keep trying without having to complain so that only time will answer this success.

My goal of 800 merits was set a few months ago when I only had 350 merits; now I have 712 merits and only need 88 more to meet my year's goal; I may or may not meet my goal before the end of the year; however, I've come a long way and I don't want to stop; however, we never know what tomorrow holds for us. For the past few months, I've been a little preoccupied with some real-life family matters, so I haven't had much time to clean up the forum as I usually do.

If someone disagrees with your posts or misunderstands them and labels you a spammer, that's their fault; nonetheless, the disparity between his Activity points and merits demonstrates that showOff was never a spammer and that not everyone's view on you is valid.

You are right, because the spammer label assigned by a forum user ^{[DT or other User]} on a profile via a neutral or negative tag does not fully prove that the user will forever remain a spammer. I can take a lesson from ShowOff which was previously considered a low quality poster ^[spammer] so some of his posts were deleted. He managed to change the direction of his journey in the forum so that the target he set was achieved. I hope that all the spammers whose posts I have reported so far can also take lessons from him so that they too can reach the targets that may have been set.

Thank you, I'm not concerned about my activity and just let things happen as they do. As you can see, your growth is quite impressive. I noticed you a few months ago and you're already one of the fastest growing users with low Activity points and high merits. You'll be a Full member in no time. Jokes apart, the merit/activity ratio is an old idea of mine, but long ago it was dismissed, as many users have a high activity because they were in the forum well before the merit system was introduced. Others had “free merits” in the same event.
So there is a number of reason why the ratio can be tilted on one or the other direction without signalling anything on the quality of the poster.

Huh.  I didn't know actmyname had tagged him as a spammer--not that would have influenced my decision to help ShowOff out with merits, because he's obviously improved his posting habits since that feedback was given in January.  I haven't looked at ShowOff's posts from that period, but if they were bad enough to deserve that feedback, then I'd say the leopard has changed its spots in this case.

That's obviously true in ShowOff's case as I just mentioned, but that example is an exception to the rule, not the norm.  Most shitposters who've come here to earn money from bounties or whatever tend to remain shitposters for the rest of their time on the forum (at least that's what I've observed).

_BlackStar, you should know that actmyname has reported at least 50 of my previous post to a moderator for deletion, so I thought it was perfectly natural for him to give me that neutral tag and blacklist me. As I said before, the actmyname neutral tag in my profile never made me weak because at the right moment I got great motivation from him to change my direction for the better so today you have seen my rank to Legendary.

I'd probably ask actmyname humbly to consider removing my tags and name from that blacklist though I've never felt really angry with him at all. Thank you actmyname, you are the first reason why my rank to Legendary. I thank so for all forum users "especially The Pharmacists" who have helped me a lot through the long process to reach this rank so that my motivation to be a useful user is maintained.

I have ranked up just today.

I thought I needed 500 activity, and, therefore, I didn't expect to rank up until two weeks from now, but today I was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought it was a mistake, but I checked in the Merit & New Rank Requirements thread that I only needed 490 activity and 500 merit.
