This seems to be a great feature for the coin.
This makes me think of NOBLECOIN in terms of the NOBLE marketplace they have where you can take your NOBLECOINS and buy Amazon and Newegg gift cards as well as many other things. No transfer to BTC or USD needed. Plus they give you a 12% discount just for using your coins instead of fiat or BTC. This month you will also be able to buy gold and silver bullion on there.
These types of features are great because it gets us away from having to convert everything to BTC and BTC being the only crypto that truly matters. It also gets us away from having to go through a bank by turning it into fiat.

I just joined the NEM waiting list. Some of my friends are TOTALLY into this coin. They think it's going places. I have been looking around and from what I hear most of these coins available are just copies. Why are people buying copies? NEM is not a copy and it has a lot of people behind it. I totally agree with you. I'm also a NEM-follower and for me it seems NEM could get the biggest surprise in 2014. All the others I have seen are just NXT-clones.
Normally nobody would pay much for a clone of a good product. Everybody wants the original.
So it would be better to invest directly in a new original called NEM.

I know at least two acquaintances who don't post on this forum (they do lurk) and they intend to purchase some NEM at launch, despite never owning any digital currency.   I've also been implanting the idea in other people but no guarantee if any will follow through.  I also intend to purchase more myself.

 I think the enthusiasm for NEM easily outstrips the enthusiasm for BTC back in 2009.  I think it's because of NEM's features, the fair distribution and the fact that digital currencies are a proven technology but the deliverance has been mediocre if not substandard so far.
 
NxT wasn't bad itself - I remember vaguely people were impressed by it but all the FUD about the distribution and the code did that coin in.  I don't think the NxT whales comprehend how bad the FUD was and is.

What is FUD? And if this FUD hurt Nxt, what would stop this from happening to NEM?
