I think PoS is unethical - it rewards whales and makes a coin look like a ponzi scheme

This coming from a "spokes person" of NEM ----> fail

I have a feeling in my bones that pesetacoin is going to be huge in Latin America and orchards everywhere.

The best alt coins in the future will be Decentralized Autonomous Corporations.  Coins that give you ownership rights to profitable corporations.

NoirShares is one that comes to mind.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=565623.0

IMO, those are too hard for the average miner to understand (at least for me they are) so for me at least, they need to be dumbed down.

fluttercoin has a pretty good chance at being big soon. proof of work, proof of stake, and first coin with proof of transaction.

I wish I would have never posted in this thread.  Pointless it is.

Then it would follow that posting in this thread a second time to point out how pointless it is to post in this thread would itself be doubly pointless.

You are right.  Let us not make it pointless.

One should invest in….hmmm.

1.  WANKERCOIN (for tipping British douschebags)  quick confirmation

2.  Douschecoin (for tipping all other douschebags) even quicker confirmation

3.  Viagracoin  (designed to keep you up all night with price fluctuation) HARD to crack crypto, STIFF block chain

You have a problem with it rewarding people who buy and hold?
If it only rewarded those with deep pockets *cough*next*cough* then I could see your criticism, but that's not the case.
Single coins can stake so anyone can get in and build a stack.

It's not Microsoft stock but a currency.  Name 10 currencies in the real world with a proof of stake interest (not from the bank but from new allocation) and get back to me.

AFAIK Nas is a clone, one man developer and a mining coin.  No idea why people are promoting, mining coins are obsolete and the exceptions like Doge were fads at best.

With BTC taking hit with bad news lately and free falling in price, I wanted to see people's opinion on which coin is going to take off in 2014.  I need your advise to diversify my portfolio.  Thanks in advance for your help!

The coin U Need is FAC FuckingACoin. We at the FAC Foundation will sell you FAC for the low time price of $1,000 per coin which if u haev any brains is the deal of a lifetime because this coin has a thousand-thirty-six-trillion-dollar market cap currently.

everyone will say about the coin he holds , but i think VTC is good investment option . Coin is cheap atm , difficulty is rising .

+1. At least one coin that can not be mined by ASIC will survive, and VTC seems well suited for that position
Also Gridcoin, because mining is useful for science; more than Primecoin. Its market cap is still very low, so it has much potential.
Finally Doge Smiley The block reward will be halved, and its community gains strenght everyday, and are very motivated to go to the moon! They are also great at making amazing publicity stunts, so they might even get more visibility than Bitcoin in the near future (ie. they sent the jamaican luge team to the winter olympics, and funded a doge-car for a Nascar driver)

This is such a specious point. If it can be mined by gpus it can be mined by asic. If & when it becomes worth the money to develop an asic to mine scrypt-n, scrypt jane, or scrypt-flowerpot somebody will do so. Aside from protecting gpu miners' profits from those "evil asic guys", these things don't serve a purpose. Take your scrypt-n coin and swap it's place on the crypto food chain with bitcoin. Now generic scrypt-n coin has a market cap of $5.2b and can only be mined by gpus. Do you really think people's money is safe in that thing without asic muscle to defend it? Is there any chance at all of such a coin becoming a global currency?
