“We identified the problem (…) We are working on this.”

Loled, Mt.Gox's final words.

I guess that's what happens when you trust a chode who runs a magic card trading website with millions of dollars.

I don't know the dumbest comment about Bitcoin I've ever read.  There were some great ones from naysayers in late 2011, and some of the "pirate@40 is legit because ..." comments cracked me up.

Here's a star from yesterday though.

Wait, you bash Bitcoin, but you have a bitcoin tip address in your signature.

So what does having a Bitcoin tip address in my signature have to with anything? I can have " I love Putin" Sign on my car, does that mean I love Putin? No, it could be sarcasm, someone else could of put it there and I haven't bothered to take it off, or better yet I realized Putin's flaws and decided to turn against him. There could be multitude of reasons as to why I have a bitcoin tip address in my signature.

I used to have a "Republicans for Voldemort" bumper sticker on the back of my car, even though I am not a Republican ...

Less of a stupid comment, more of a common conundrum:

"1 Bitcoin costs $600? That is too expensive for me."

only $0.60 for a mBTC.  that's CHEAP!     Huh

There is a huge thread on reddit why bitcoin sucks. It's just a laundry list of irrelevant gripes. Capitulation is in these days.

My SO has banned me from buying bitcoin. I watched bitcoin go down to $425 / BTC on coinbase briefly a couple days ago, but I was unable to take advantage of it. My SO has declared, "Bidcoin is just a ponzi scheme cooked up by nerds. If you buy any bidcoin, I will break up with you. I don't sleep with nerds."  Cry

So, I called up my "nerd" buddy and told about the low price, he bought in and now is sitting on a 30% profit. He made $3000 in less than 48 hours (he bought at $450/BTC, it's now $585 on Winkdex). My "nerd" buddy bought me a beer. At least I got a beer out of it.  Cheesy (I have to look at it from the bright side)

Sounds like you need a new SO. One that isn't pea-brained.

2011:  Bitcoin is dead (after June MtGox hack and November price bottom)
2012:  Bitcoin is dead (after pirateat40 default and glbse closure)
2013:  Bitcoin is dead (after April and December price drops)
2014:  Bitcoin is dead (after MtGox bankruptcy, and probably many more times)

The implied one I read just now from a certain blonde reporter who supposedly found Satoshi Nakamoto.
"He was using anonymized email with his real name on it"!!!

I got "talked to" by my mother-in-law yesterday because my wife told her about my interest in Bitcoin not too long ago.  She told me in front of family that:  "Bitcoin is bankrupt" (ie she heard about Gox) and "It is used by drug dealers" (ie. Silk Road).

I tried not to laugh. Tried.  But then chuckled and explained to her about both.
