Can any ALTCOIN ever overtake Bitcoin ?

Well from the look of things and the current stand on the crypto market, I don't think any altcoin can overtake bitcoin at the moment, maybe that might happen later in the future, but at the moment, i don;t think so

I am sure that this will never happen. Bitcoin in this digital gold will always be in the first places, when this coin is always traded in the first places, because it is a favorite of investors, I think that such coins will not appear for a very long time

Well, at the price of course it is very difficult to say that which altcoin overtook bitcoin , but I heard that there are coins that are very rare and they are very expensive , but they are certainly not very liquid , and of the top of course I doubt that they will reach, but Ethereum of course can approach the values of bitcoin

Everything will change if only the market is rise again. Till now I not sure about some potential coins have high return when uptrend.

I don't think so it will happen, check the market dominance of bitcoin then you will know it won't happen, even if it will happen, it will take so many years to happen, that's with all thing been in perfect shape

No! the cryptocurrency market is not a race of currencies  but rather an investment platform where crypto enthusiasts invest into digital assets. The higher the investment into an asset the higher its value and bitcoin is one of the digital currencies highly invested into by crypto enthusiasts.

With the  way altcoins are plummeting, just as bitcoin is also falling, i do not think it is going to work that way, at least for now. Perhaps in the next 10 years, it might happen. I have not even seen any altcoin that has such potential to overtake bitcoin. If bitcoin pumps today, so many altcoins will pump alongside with it,the same thing will happen if it dumps.

I think that none of the altcoins that are currently on the market is able to surpass Bitcoin in development. Bitcoin will be the cryptocurrency king for a long time, but technology is moving forward every day, so one day we may have a surprise in the form of Bitcoin 2.0.

I don't think so. With the current bear market, there is no way a coin would over take a price of bitcoin. The difference is just too high and bitcoin's dominance is still there so  no one is a threat for now. Also, I don't see a point were an altcoin needs to dethrone bitcoin, the market situation will still be the same and one coin will not make that much of a difference unless its bitcoin.

In my opinion, it cannot really happen, bitcoin is way to high compare to altcoins or even to the top 2 cryptocurrency in the world. Bitcoin will still prevail no matter how good a project is. Do you guys know what good is in bitcoin? its name.

We really can't command that the altcoins will overtake bitcoin for the reason of that. The altcoin has to have a good feature and its demand must be huge in order to come up and overtakes bitcoin's rank. Good supply and demand is the key to it.

the 1.4K dollar market value of the ethereum says nothing at all to the 19k dollar price of the bitcoin last december 2017. It is quite hopeless for the altcoins to surpass the legendary bitcoin. Though the price is low at the moment, still ranks number 1

Wow, almost no one believes in the next 5-10 years BTC loses the throne?  I see it playing out differently.  From what I can see the lightning network has serious flaws.  Also, if BTC were to hope to fulfill a peer-peer payments network as it was originally intended you still need better on network performance.  This is argued by David Chaum and David Schwartz. So BTC can't scale and can't fulfill its primary use case.  Unless they adapt quickly with something that hasn't been released as a possible solution?  A store of value by the way is not a use case.  If XRP penetrates the cross-border payments market which is imminent than I'd expect it to overtake BTC in less than 2 1/2 years.  My bet in 7-10 years is that Elixxir is king of the customer facing peer to peer payments (better bitcoin) and XRP handles all the back-end B2B solutions and smart contracts with Codius.

Altcoin cannot surpass bitcoins price that easily.Its popularity cannot be surpasses by etherium or any other crypto because bitcoin have earned so much fame on the crypto community and it is the strongest and the most commonly used nowadays.

Altcoins mainly just copied the idea of Bitcoin and because of that, the bitcoin is the first to establish what you call the "name". And this name has a price way better than any altcoins out in the market.

As simple as easy, Bitcoin will not going to be surpassed by altcoins. Bitcoin is still the greatest investment, you can easily see it on its market cap and market value, there's no doubt that it just runs like a bull when the bull market is coming.

Of course, I can. well, in the crypto world I don't think there is a limit to that. when a coin can be more useful compared to bitcoin, then at that time bitcoin will probably be the 2nd priority.
