The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Btw. can you please disable the top wordpress-bar for non-admin/legitimate users (which are only registered for the votings) at the foundation website.

@functions.php
Code:
if(!current_user_can('manage_options'))
{
    add_filter('show_admin_bar', '__return_false');
}

Have you figured out how to transfer the fund to the winner? If there are any news, please also update the twitter account so that we all can spread (or retweet Smiley) the word. It's too quiet there...

My bad - im the tchilp-guy Cheesy .. gonna boost that now!

I forwarded your suggestion to our webdev - Thanks for the advice !

Great... twitter is exploding, wp-bar also removed... keep up the great work! Wink

A little fuel:
We looked up the code and were able to see that the current 'power savings' are just temporary as the algo itself is very bad in shape so its not properly configured which leads to less work for the card. So if its 'optimized' ( which is something bad in this case :-) ) in the future that energy saving 'feature' will fall apart but the hashrate will rise because of optimiziation.
Furthermore all algos used in x11 are optimized for ASICs :-)
Quote
We have been working hard testing and discussing X11 . Its by no means ready to launch and it may never launch if the team feels like there's a better way to go. But at this point it looks very probable that IF we'll be switching to X11 in the near future, everything will need to be rebuilt. Wallet, android app, ect ect ect so everyone will have ample time and advance warning to adjust to the possible upcoming switch to X11, It wont happen overnight, likely there will be at least 25 days notice.
so, you are going to change the algo to X11?
even if it is optimized for asic already?

would it have to be an asic that could work with all 11 algos?

The Asic would have to run all 11 algorithms in the proper sequence, thus making the asic specifically for X11.

actually yes
i think it would if X11 get popular like scrypt (is going to)
look at all new coins
its not stoppable, every day 1-5 new coin
they'll gonna shift from scrypt to X11 and soon (maybe in 1 year) we can expect hearing news for X11 asics

No algorithm is asic proof indefinitely. People need to come to accept that.  If we do fork it will be a one time thing to avoid the more immanent vulnerability and take the opportunity to grow the community. Later in a coins lifecycle a coin can benefit from ASICs as it keeps the network in place. We are very early in our lifecycle though.

thats a good point it is possible that scrypt could just live on with pure ASIC mining like BTC but since these are alt coins who knows how they will react.

Dogecoin, Litecoin, Peercoin, absolutely, and there is nothing wrong with that. They have all matured, Dogecoin rather quickly actually. Not all scrypt coins need to change, nor should they. Again coin maturity is a big factor in this.

If you want to see the predatory nature of things, watch Aurora right now. I am not sure if it's just hot air, but supposedly it is under multiple attacks. Not just BCX. It's the Wild West! It will be interesting to watch what happens, and see if and when aurora will recover. I don't think it is dead or will die honestly. And this may all just be hot air. BCX sure is forcing a dump though.

I know this isn't EMC2 related, just interested in seeing if anything really happens to a coin supposedly under attack, even if it is just FUD. Strange world.

UPDATE: It looks like it is all FUD started by BCX. Thank goodness.  Smiley

UPDATE #2: May have been a successful 51% attack. Supposedly it had to be at least 16GH/s to pull it off. Either that or this is more FUD by BCX. I wish I knew how to tell.  Embarrassed

UPDATE #3: It looks like it really is all FUD. My intention is not to spread it. There is still one main fork that everyone planned to switch to at block 5400, and the smaller ones more likely are just not updated wallets. The main fork is the only one moving forward. BCX is a fear monger, duh. And maybe people aren't as malicious as they seem. Again, nothing to do with EMC2. Been running great since the start. Just wanted to see what the heck the fuss was all about with aurora.

serious testing going on.

- Testnet runs are successful

Current Test:
Compile wallet with an included hard fork date
Build Wallet
Download real Blockchain
Sent EMC2s out of *the scrypt blockchain* to the x11 wallet (PASSED!)
isolate the network
Setup 3 different nodes as seednodes and connect them viceversa
Let the hard fork happen (time and date was set - PASSED)
Transfer *scrypt-EMC2s* to another x11 Wallet within the bubble-network (no connect to real blockchain)
Mine the Block to confirm that tx - Processing

sadly i have to wait until i find the first block with the diff of 14 even within my testnetwork.. as the diff is recalculated as soon as a block is found that will speed up things. Have to wait for ~6 hours i guess. *Greatly depending on the luck*

Once again and this is VERY Important for everyone to understand:

These are just TECHNICAL tests! There are a lot of things to consider and discuss before we will do anything like a real hardfork. Eventhough we have to do nearly everything we did in the past once again (building the windows wallets, setup a p2pool implementation, build android wallet, build working block explorer etc..). Thats no 'hooray..lets do that now!' step.
Just to make that point clear.

     Guys just copy paste the N scrypt from vertcoin even their schedule. They are 100% focus on avoiding asics, yes is less ecological and requires some tweaking but it should be a once in a lifetime fork. Then we can focus our minds and resources into science.
