A lot of people are earning a lot in this market or through their professionals job and yet they don't have any savings simply because they live beyond their means and most of them don't have any plan for their future. I think it really depends where you live. If the person's goal is to save money the best to do would be to move to a countryside city where goods and services are cheaper and the stores are closer of each other. However, the wage in a big city should be taken in consideration: to execute a "grunt work" will probably be worthless compared to the basic expenses costs, but to be an executive makes the expenses look inoffensive, then it still worths to live in a big city, saving money meanwhile.

In a countryside city the person can eat out for a cheap price and even prepare his meals for less. Also, a car isn't a must to go everywhere.

For instance, if you have to buy a phone and can get a simple one for $100 or a new iphone for $1000 don't buy that overpriced iphone just because your friend has one.

As my strategies in saving my money is that I make a least.  I will buy first the most important things like foods that I always consumed for that week. Then my payments of my electric and water bills consumption and my allowances. And the rest is I keep it for my savings.

try to divide your needs in percentage for example 40% for monthly needs, 30% for installment, 20% for future savings, 10% for social needs, then divide it with your monthly income
