as in all the negative and false news and manipulation that was aimed at it and
as long as there are believers in the tech and what it offers it will continue to
survive future attacks.

Ultimately we dont care what financial experts, government officials or banks

What test of time are you referring to, there is no reason for people to panick, I have written a lot of post on this platform, from bitcoin = future, you have to be a die hard risk taker to win in this industry and lastly don't quit, I sighted the example of me buying Bitcoin when it dip at 5000+ dollars, house was mortgaged to do these investment, a fellow came the other day saying bitcoin is no investment, they called me fools, but today, the king of all digital currency has proved them wrong, we will call them out when it hits 20k 30k 50k.. It's just 10years of bitcoin's active existence. 10 years is lot of time to effect any kind if change drastically. Bitcoin has grown in leaps and bounds and, is surmounting all attacks; instigated or coincidental. But I think its still early to safely assume that the coin has "seen it all". I think there are yet tougher challenges for bitcoin in times to come. Especially when developing economies begin adopting crypto over dollar denominated global commerce. The "heavyweight" will not like that, and would recourse to using propaganda and all kinds of possible or impossible tactics to demean the lofty ideology behind real cryptocurrencies, desperately fighting to retain that top spot.

Actually, it doesn't matter how long of downfall it takes because even there are a lot of ups and downs movements, apparently it is normal things to happen to this system. Even we are experiencing downtrends for a long period of time, for there will be the pumps are awaiting to happens so that for sure there will be the upcoming biggest movements in the near future. what you are calling "negative speculation" has in fact been FUD, misinformation and basically bullshit being spread by mainly those who wanted to  buy bitcoin cheaper or short bitcoin while it was going down. otherwise the downtrend has been natural to some point.
also I disagree with saying it was "caused largely by negative news". based on what I have seen, negative news rarely causes a drop, they only intensify a drop. in other words if there were no drop in first place then the news couldn't create it.

You have a very good point there, the things that cause a drop in price of bitcoin are largely not caused by  FUDs, I believe the factors are enormous. Bitcoin is simply amazing and incredible digital currency.
