Bitcoin has been in sports for about 3 years if I did my search well and it will continue to grow and help other sports too, not just football or tennis. Also there are a lot of betting bitcoin websites that have a good reputation even here on this thread so we can say that bitcoin is almost everywhere when we talk about sports.

This will actually create more and more demand in the market gradually if the base currency is used as btc that will actually increase the price and also at certain specified points will also fall into place to stabilize price. All domains will soon have no command selection rather than accepting bitcoin because of the bitcoin acceptance

Such news definitely grabs eyeballs and will benefit the mission awareness of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, it is something that is still in the basic phase of development and hence it is on the tiny level. I do see, huge potential for crypto in betting and other activities, where it is legally allowed by the jurisdiction of that country.

This is definitely not the first time cryptocurrency has been used on the sports industry, but it is probably the first time the athletes have actually been paid in bitcoin. No sure how many of them actually agreed to this decision, but I guess they had no choice in the end, trying to grab those news headlines at all costs.
I am currently working with an ICO called Bitgoals that will be working in-depth with the sporting industry, in fact they have recently been sponsoring a few international football matches, check em out on Google to learn more if you’re interested.
I believe one big example of the sports event that uses biggest amount of cryptocurrency and bitcoin is the World Cup that happens mid this year so what happened in UK is just another venture of bitcoin towards sports world I will look at that BitGoals as i am looking for sports connected projects aside from gambling section since i am not a gambling fanatic But this thread is another good news for the bitcoin community that the cryptocurrency is going mainstream and its not that long and we will see the goodness crypto can give the whole world |

It is not the first time bitcoin has been payed to someone. But actually it is a good thing when all of people notice that how easy and good bitcoin is. So, when all of people already trust bitcoin, then it will be become a world currency. Also, we do not need cash and bank anymore. Just my opinion.
