So, I buy a Amazon Kindle Fire, because I like to read. When you configure it for the first time, you have to login with your

Amazon account (obviously) and then you are presented with 2 x FREE audio books. I accept the 2 x FREE books, to test the

audio and also to experience audio books for the first time. (I prefer reading the ebooks, but I thought I would give it a try, to

see what it sounds like.)

A month down the line, I get a sms notification from my Bank, notifying me of a payment done to "Audible" so I phone my

Bank. They inform me that it is a monthly subscription to Audible.com. (I never gave consent for "Audible" to sign me up for a

monthly subscription) This is how they do it --->  http://prntscr.com/ksqxhv  (I never even saw that, when I was offered the

2 FREE books) !!!!!!!!  Why would I sign a subscription if I just wanted to listen to the so-called FREE books?  Huh

In any way, I logged in again and cancelled the subscription and it already billed me for next month.  Angry Angry Angry

Now, this will NEVER happen with Bitcoin, because nobody can automatically withdraw money from your Bitcoin address. You

have FULL control over your own money.  Cool I am not the only one - https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/audible.com

Easier said than done. I've probably done this if only I could go to our local store and use bitcoin. But unfortunately global adoption isn't THAT widely spread as of today; so most of us pretty much have no choice but to use fiat paper money and credit/debit cards because there's no alternative.

As for your incident, there were probably hidden charges for it. Something like free only for 14 days or something; shady practice, I know. Quite unfortunate.

It does not matter how they do it, it should not be possible for ANY company or person to access funds on your account,

without your consent.  Angry Angry Angry Angry  The weirdest thing is that Amazon is directly associated with shady practices like

this. The actual point that I want to make is that Bitcoin is much better, because companies like this cannot get away with

FREE trial scams/Free shit like this, because they cannot automatically withdraw money from your Bitcoin address.  Angry

Wait what? How did they have access to your credit card in the first place? They required your credit card information for you to claim your free eBooks right?

I assumed you already have Amazon account when you bought Kindle Fire, but do you already have Audible account prior to it? If not and they asked you to sign up to Audible to get the free audiobooks, did Audible not send you an email when you sign up for it and before they start charging you for the next month? From what I know, they give one free audiobook upon signing up but then they charge you automatically the next, although they will email you first. I agree, though about using bitcoin for cases like this. If we used bitcoin, we would not have experienced autocharging into our accounts that websites and banks regulate.

Your Amazon account store your credit card details and they are linked to Amazon, so I figure they get access to your credit

card details via Amazon. I will now have to contact the Bank to stop the payments or to chargeback the funds. If they

continue doing this, I will have to cancel my credit card and then ask them to issue a new card with new account details.

I cannot wait for Bitcoin to go mainstream, so that this autocharging bullshit can be stopped.  Roll Eyes

Yes, I had a Amazon account before I bought the Kindle Fire. I had to login to the Kindle Fire with the Amazon account to

use the Kindle and it was then, when they asked if I wanted 2 FREE audio books. There was no mention made about any

subscription and I only became aware of that a month later, when they billed me with the FREE subscription.  Angry Angry Angry

While it's sucks and can be considered as shady practice, i'm 100% sure that their terms and condition mentioned that you'll be charged automatically after the trial ended if you didn't cancel before it ended.
Maybe you should use debit card with very low amount Roll Eyes

You not getting it.. they do not let you click the "terms of conditions" option, when you accept the 2 FREE ebooks and they

do not show you the "trail" offer subscription. This is a very shady practice and this should be stopped. Using a debit card is

even worst, because they can force a debit order payment and that is even harder to stop.  Angry  In any way, who reads the

ToS when you are presented with FREE books.  Roll Eyes

I agree it's a scummy thing to do, but it is neither illegal or a scam as you are claiming. The picture you posted clearly states that you will be charged after 30 days, as will the small print that you didn't bother to read.

If you don't bother to read what you are signing up to, you can't blame other people when you are taken advantage of.

I cannot post the actual screen that I received when I configured the Kindle Fire, because that was a month ago, but I

visited their actual site and I saw this "fine print" for the first time. You do not get that exact screen, when you accept the

2 FREE books, via the Kindle. In any way, I logged a complaint and they acknowledged that this was a mistake on their side,

and I got a refund today. The point is, nobody should have access to your money, without your consent and Bitcoin gives you

that peace of mind.  Wink

Can't see bitcoin panning out with brick-and-mortar stores sooner or later, given the amount of work it needs to keep bitcoin let alone the volatility of the everyday pricing scares the merchant (though there are third-party services which exist just to take care of that 'problem'). Perhaps in software subscription it will excel, but given the nature on how they try to market their products and knowing the limits of their control on bitcoin, these subscription-based services will never deviate from credit cards knowing that they're getting something from it. It's just wishful thinking at this point in time.

Yeah bitcoin is much better as a payment than mastercard.
But still few want adopted bitcoin as a payment due to high fee and random transaction speed.

Yes you are right also using bitcoin will avoid auto debiting like what happen on every credit cards. Just like you are paying with no reason. While in bitcoin, No more swipe or signing up your information, just put the right amount of bitcoin and send it to the merchants. Bitcoin is more safely than using credit cards.

I've also experienced something like that, and I think it's a bad system. Hopefully someday, bitcoin can perfect things like that

What world are you living in my friend? The miners fees have come down so much in the last year, that it has actually become

a non-issue these days. The risk with credit cards is the storage of the information and also autocharging and that must come

to an end. People should have 100% control over their financial data and also over their money/wealth. Currently this power

is in the hands of large centralized organisations.... and that is just wrong.  Angry

The lengthy and time wasting way of using credit card compareing this with the bitcoin. We see bitcoin is using largely and taking the position of crerdit card. Time will come when people largely use bitcoin that can be supported by people.

Why people are going to use credit card? May be the time when they do not have the bitcoin. It hereby obvious that people are using bitcoin in lieu of credit card who have bitcoin and they are paying their payement by using bitcoin. Hope in future bitcoin payment is going to increase.

The easyest and the valuest currency is bitcoin. By using this it is possible to buy and pay which is easy and realiable for the buyer like me. So i obviously prefer bitcoin than credit card.

It’s true so many countries are against bitcoin. That’s why every store are accepting fiat money and credit card but i believe one day bitcoin will acceptable and become the global currency.
