It looks as if my Jet Aid initiative to help encourage good posting is dead in the water. I've closed the thread in beginners, and I've put the whole board on ignore. They seem more interested in talking about TwitBook spamming, getting merits without working, and teaching newbies how to bounty spam.

There seems to be an increase in infographics and other annoying ( to me ) images, and these large blocks are often quoted, which magnifies the problem. If you can't understand a concept by reading a bit of text, then what chance have you got of understand the concept of crypto, of course this assumes that posters can produce a coherent description. Images are handy for statistical graphs of course, but there is no need to keep re-quoting them throughout a thread. This seems to be indicative of a drift towards a schoolroom posting community. There would also seem to be a belief that creating amateurish infographics is a way to earn merits.

I seem to have started quite a few projects, and most have a pretty low level of activity, but they can still take up quite a lot of time. Also, I am paying for domain names and hosting, and if they are not of benefit to members, then I should probably close them. Later today I will list them, and I would be grateful for any suggestions as to how they can be improved, or if they are no longer required.

The Fit to Talk English project is one example. It does seem to be getting a few views, so maybe I should open it up to a wider audience than just Bitcoin Talk. I'll check the server stats to see what the traffic is like.

Sad to say but some folks are just really here for incentives and maybe that is one of the reason why they are not showing interest on your projects.

Actually I admire you Sir Jets for doing such things as I really wanted to do the same. But if these Members won't see the importance of those projects then it will only be a waste of time. I believed that some of the new members registering here really wants to learn about cryptocurrency world, yeah I still believe in that. But because of these twitbook spammer, they are influencing new members and encouraging them to be one of twitbook spammer. It's also because of greediness, all they think is EARN EARN EARN and EARN. Actually if we will just conduct a survey and ask these spammers "What is the main purpose of this forum", the answer we'll surely get is "to earn". It means they also didn't even know the importance of this forum.

This also happens even in our local board. Seems like more members are more interesting in shit topics than those educative one and helpful one.

Your topics were very good and I am sorry that they didn`t receive the expected response from the majority of forum members. But your actions motivate me personally to find interesting discussions. A huge amount of spam on the forum is very disappointing and there was a period when I didn`t want to open BitcoinTalk, because I knew that I would see a huge number of garbage posts here. But then I saw that you begin interesting discussions, raise important social issues and take care of the future of this forum. Definitely what happens in my local board too. Fighting them is a bit tiring as I have to wait 7 seconds before I can report another post. Luckily there is an alternative for that, but the amount of unnecessary images, blockquotes, and so on is definitely annoying. Most of them don't care about anything except money, I can feel what you feel (at least that's what I think).

That's true. And Sir Jets even spending money to pay for the domain and host of the website just for those members who really wanted to learn. But the problem is some members still can't find it helpful as they were focusing to earn.

I feel you Man. The same feeling I always felt when visiting my local board. There are also several members in my local board who were fighting against massive amount of spammers. One main problem is we don't have any support from our Mods (but not so sure if Mods already had taken any actions, it's been days since I became inactive and I don't have any idea about what's happening. I'll take a visit soon).

Hopefully, you won't stop doing what you've done, we need more members like you.

I'm so grateful that there are still good Samaritans in this world, and you are one of them. Being concerned about this forum also to the members of it is really a wonderful thing to be heard. Your motive is great(which is to help) people to improve their post quality to avoid so much spamming in this forum, which is too hard to be solve, merit systems doesn't even waver them. People would ignore your project if they are not interested on it, simple as that.

The conclusion that came up to my mind is that, no matter how hard we try to help them, if they don't want any help, then we can't do anything about them, they will keep doing what they are doing and ignore the right thing to do. So, there must be a limit for it, my suggestion is that there should be a bot or something that will monitored every post that would be made here in this forum 24/7, if the bot detected that is just a spam post, then it would get denied, so the poster would need to change his posting style until he fits to the requirement post.

I know this is too much to ask, but we need to be more strict about our policy here, we have to force them to make quality post, or else in no time, this forum will be flooded of spam posts, just my opinion.

I do need to sort out the projects though. I deleted the Jetcash academy as there was no interest in that at all. I've neglected the ask a legendary project - This is the link to ask a legendary There isn't much of an overhead with that, and it is on the Jet Cash domain, so I might leave that alone for a while. The node and mining project never really got started, but I'm still interested in that, so maybe I'll have another go in a month ot two.

I'm interested in crypto use as part of economic survival as the current banking system implodes, so I'll run that project as a private club with just a few members - Economic survival with the Wise Accountant

Ignoring others who don't want to learn is just the opposite of his perspective i guess since he is encouraging someone to improve. That is why it is hurting his feeling.

Thanks for the offers. I use templates and CMS installed via Softaculous, and I enjoy playing with that. Softaculous is probably the reason I started so many sites if I have to admit the truth.

At the moment I've got an excess of sMerits to award, and I've revisited the tech board. That is quite interesting again, and I should take advantage of it to optimise my node and wallet. I haven't even created a segwit address yet for example.

We need a Beginners and Help board for the alt coin section. The current bitcoin one is being swamped by the same old crap being asked about ALT coin related subjects. We also need to get the Newbie/Welcome message initiated which I suggested here. I messaged theymos abut it yesterday but that will likely just get ignored like everything else does. That needs to happen asap as info about all the things they need to know can be included there so they don't need to litter the place up with the same old questions.

The problem is probably 95%+ of people signing up here are doing so just for bounties and the majority of them are clueless. They've just been thrown in at the deep-end by someone telling them they can get paid to post here.

I suspect the issue is that the 1% of new members who would probably be interested in your projects don't actually need the help to start making good posts, and the ones who are not interested in your projects don't care about making good posts.


Altcoin posts and posts asking questions that are already answered in a sticky make up >75% of the posts in Beginners & Help. Removing these would be a great start to cleaning it up.

This is very strange and in my opinion I think 95% of those accounts are bots or alts, joined only for abusing bouties and signatures.
I can not understand in any way the reason for this + 25% when the market is experiencing a moment of crisis, it makes no sense.

- to reach first 101 members, it took 4 months, 20 days (excluding the end date)
- to reach first 1001 members, it took 9 months, 8 days
- most of these members did not even made it to a Jr.

I guess f2t is doing better than this is this short period of time. Remember you need long term members not spam bots.

I hope you will find something encouraging from this date I pulled manually.

It isn't too difficult to understand. If you look at Dr Copper and the Baltic Dry index, you will see that world trade is declining, as is industrial investment. Jeff Bazos picks up $268,000,000 per day from his activities, which caused the loss of businesses like Toys'r' Us. This sucks employment and wages away from the working population. There are numerous issues like this. Share buybacks whilst the directors of major corporations are unloading their shares is another example.

This means that a lot of people are desperate for income, and Bitcoin Talk has become known as the Golden Fountain.

I'm wondering if any new members started off lurking like I did.  I was reading stuff on bitcointalk for months before I actually created an account, and this is in 2014 or so when the whole Mt. Gox situation was unfolding.  I have a feeling that most noobs haven't started off this way, that they've heard about the altcoin bounties and come straight here for that.

Because they've done no reading, they jump in without knowing anything about the rules of the forum or of the culture.  They think this is a work-from-home website, and then they're surprised when they get banned or negged or don't rank up because they can't get merits. 

So Jet Cash, as I've said before, your expectations are way too high.  You're doing a good job by trying to help the noobs, but in the end you're going to keep being disappointed.  I have very low expectations from people, so I'm rarely shocked by the idiotic BS that you mentioned.  I do think members ought to have the common sense not to keep quoting huge infographics or gigantic blocks of text.  What can you do.

Yeah as i read the thread i kinda sad too that they are ignoring your good efforts to put up a good community and healthy environment for this forum. I always look up on you since you are in hero or full member account and wishing that i might get some merits before. I think the real problem is not in the bounty. If we can participate in the bounty, we can also post constructive posts, which does not affect the forum.
As a newcomer, I also want to earn extra income through the bounty, but when I look at the bounty section, it makes me a headache, countless Twitter/Facebook links, in a 100-page post, at least 90 pages are full of these links.
I think it’s time to ban Twitter/Facebook’s bounties, or to use a Google Forms report instead of replying to the bounty thread.

There are already some smart bounty managers that uses Google form as a way of reporting status of their participants "Twitbooks report" (those massive links that we can see in bounties) but seems like even though it is much better to use Google form to somehow lessen spam posts, most of those bounty managers still want their participants to post the links of their reports. Maybe because they also want their bounty thread to be bumped by spammer.

About banning Twitter and Facebook, well I've no idea if it will be a good move. No comments for now.

Certainly yes, some people subscribe to the forum to earn some bitcoin, some people subscribe to learn something about the bitcoin and the cryptomarket, but difficultly at this time in when the Bitcoin is low and google trends reports has bitcoin in very low spot on the top list.
Hardly people sign up now when Bitcoin turns out not to be searched on google!
+25% accounts is too high and beyond reality, I can believe that AT LEAST a 90% of this 25% is made up of bots and multi-accounts.

Regarding  your sites I would advise you to keep them, domains are cheap and hosting is free (considering that you probably host sites on unlimited hosting. And if you don't have unlimited hosting, I'm sure some of your friends have. Or even I can host your sites for free)

Regarding "Economic survival" - it's really hard to establish new forums these days without lots of active communities.

Few months ago I was observing the rise of one blockchain forums, but when the owner ran out of money for paying people to communicate there - the activity fell almost to 0...
Also many years ago I developed and managed literature forum (social networks were not so popular those days so it was easier) and i remember how hard was it.

The wise accountant idea is really to help me to invest in some selected alts, and I haven't done much research yet. It's a bit difficult to chat about them on the boards here, and any public recommendation is likely to result in a price increase, and this will reduce profitability. Hence my idea of having private discussions. I don't want to create a group investment plan either, doing that would mean that I have to share the profits. It is far better in my opinion to have individual investments made on group discussions. That way you can control the speculation to suit your own circumstances.

In Reddit /Bitcoin there is an automatic script that automatically deletes your post if it mentions any altcoin.

I believe we could have something similar here in all bitcoin boards (beginners, technical support and discussion, mining etc). If it mentions eth, ethereum, token, eyc, this post is automatically deleted and the user receives a pm telling h that he post mentioned an altcoin and it should be posted in the altcoin session.

This would help clean our boards a little be with zero effort from moderator or ADM

You sure had a different orientation from what is obtainable today. In my case, I got to know much about this forum when I joined a campaign managed by Sylon. He had a "stringent" requirement that your posts will only count is some boards. So to meet up with that requirement, I started discovering other threads like meta, economics, beginners, politics, etc.

I then took the time to read through the beginners' thread. It was there my whole understanding of this beautiful platform changed. If there is a way new members will be confined to post based on questions and answers from the beginners' board, it will go a long way toward shaping the quality of new members. I hope this is what Jet Cash want to establish. It will be a nice project.

The only reason for them to come on the forum is to reach Jr. member and start participating in bounties in order to earn a few bucks every week/month/year. It is very difficult, or may I say impossible, to teach such people to behave themselves and do what is right for the whole community. These are the members we should be encouraging. The Jet Cash name issue has made me rethink quite a few things, and there are some possibilities. I installed a ticket system on Talk Merit for new and junior members, but only one person has ever used that. I propose to delete that ticket system, and replace it with a more comprehensive system using Hesk. This includes the ability to build a knowledge base. and I can use this to route enquirers to relevant Bitcoin Talk threads. One difficulty that newer members seem to have is navigating the forum to find information. This task is fairly simple for experienced members, but must be hard for newbies when faced with a sea of spam posts.

I'll post a link in my signature when the system is usable.

Yes but you don't expect horses to come to you, you'll need to find them, to make assumption which horses can become race horses, which horses are rare (i.e. have some unique expertise, and not necessarily in blockchain, it might be knowledge of rare language), etc.

You're one of the person who give me merits from the start and I know you really wanted to help some people who do posting with good contents. But today, let's accept the fact that sometimes posting with contents (as if they really created that) are very annoying because all of it are just from the internet, they're just using proper citation but the idea that comes from their mind, nothing.

There is an old adage about horses, water and drinking. I want to encourage the foals who will become race horses, and not the donkeys who dig in their hooves and demand free carrots.

Yes but you don't expect horses to come to you, you'll need to find them, to make assumption which horses can become race horses, which horses are rare (i.e. have some unique expertise, and not necessarily in blockchain, it might be knowledge of rare language), etc.

Race horses will definitely come to you if you whistle to them, it doesn't matter if it's rare or not, the important thing is they're willing to be with you until the end and it's really a good sign of reaching a success.

We all know that today there are many people at the forum who don`t differ in originality of thought and write horrible posts for the sole purpose: to fulfill the quota in a bounty campaign to get tokens. But if we take it as a fact and do nothing to fix it, the situation will only get worse. I think that Jet Cash comes very nobly, creating threads in which everyone for a worthy post can receive a merit and thereby motivating participants to write more thoughtful and qualified posts. He doesn`t have to do this, but he wants to improve the situation and raise the level of the forum as a whole. And I'm very glad that Jet Cash didn`t accept the fact that the forum is filled with spammers, but chose the way to combat it, motivating members and giving them the opportunity to be appreciated.

I think that luring horses from one stable to another with the promise of carrots isn't the way to go. Rewarding people with merit is a great idea but that's why we have bitcointalk, so that all this activity can take place here.

I know that you have been doing good and working hard to correct those members who are breaking rules through reading your comments on those thread. Hello this is my first time to come at here and read this thread. Usually i at local forum and in here maybe i can learn anything that i don't understand. I think mostly people here come too get some money. They do not care about rules ,now we are banned 1 account, bu they will make 2 even 10 accounts. Maybe what we must have to do make rules that who want to taking part in bounty must have some several merits not only in signature campaign. And who want make thread must be self moderated maybe or who want to make thread make by have to minimum ranks. But hope this forum can be better
