Bitcoin is always bringing the attention even at Wal-Mart check this out https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/11/walmart-is-now-selling-bitcoins-for-1/?guccounter=1
Sounds funny and maybe not of great interest but that kind of selling propaganda gives 3 good things:

1st) It makes more people to know bitcoin
2nd) The kids start to know there is something out there called Bitcoin
3rd) As it is in chocolate, bitcoin will be engraved in the mind of those who try as a sweet and nice thing.  Cheesy

Thanks for sharing!

This unironically will make Bitcoin a little bit more legitimate in the eyes of average people. Unless it's meant to be 'scary bitcoin - the Halloween candy' type of thing that is  Smiley

It will have some positive promotional effect, but I see it more as a sign of Bitcoin breaking to mainstream, with majority of people already being aware of it.

Yeah, it's clearly a marketing ploy designed to give kids yet another reason to pester their parents to buy them chocolate, heh.  That said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the tactic pays off and this food manufacturer see a sales uplift because of it.  But if it does raise even a little bit of awareness for the future generations, there's no harm in it.  Every kid needs to grow up knowing what Bitcoin is for when the time comes that traditional finance invariably fails them.

Exactly, its a creative marketing ploy and I 'm sure that kids will see bitcoin as not as scary as their parents  know them in the first place (if their parents is aware what bitcoin is, rat poison as per W.B.)

And it the long run, this kind of propaganda will stick to the kids mind and who knows, by the time they are old enough, we might see some of them turn into a investor.  Smiley

yeah, that's a good marketing strategy without harming anyone nor offending any entity. no matter what this younger generation will face the full blast of blockchain era. they need to start somewhere, right? at least be open-minded in these things. you'll never know, they are the generation that will fully embrace the blockchain revolution without any hesitations.

the views of the world about bitcoin has been changing and i believe this has started a while back but mostly last year when Japan adopted bitcoin when their government recognized bitcoin as a legal way of payment and that accompanied by the price rise became one of the biggest game changers for bitcoin since now everyone who were hearing "bitcoin is scam" were realizing it was all FUD since they were seeing one of the developed countries have actually adopted bitcoin as a currency.

That picture didn't say $Bitcoin is $1 It only says $Bitcoin payment is accepted! and you can pay as little as $1. So  I believe the pictures say a different thing from $Bitcoin at $1. Shows how shops over the world are beginning to find $Bitcoin a convenient way of paying! It will increase gradually until its generally adopted. My only worry is if the techology is going to scale to handle the bigger usage that is yet to come! Because I can't pay for a cup of coffee and wait 5 hours to get my coffee because of confirmation speeds. Things have to change in that aspect. Overall things are looking good for $Bitcoin regardless of the shape of the market now.

Walmart is selling "bitcoin" chocolates for $1. That's it. Where does it say that bitcoin payments are being accepted?

it does not ,,,,i think he was kidding or just dreaming

wallmart accepting btc news comes next year sometime i expect with most other stores

i expect amazon and ebay to be some of the first to capitulate to btc .. or that is what I am hoping anyway since that is where I tend to buy most things I need.

LN is key

still its a good bit of fun news and who knows it could lead to some small amount of extra attention for btc and crypto from the younger kids or just those who like choco money

This shows that bitcoin is gaining more ground and acceptability. Many parents will get to understand what is bitcoin and how it's been used as a medium of exchange. It's good to expose it to people this way.

He's actually hallucinating when he's typing that. Don't mind him. Huh

This is actually eye catching and a good advertisement to raise more awareness and you'll definitely have a second look in their board and there you are smiling like an idiot hoping bitcoin in $1.

Whoever idea was it, he actually succeeded. Nice marketing.

Take me to Walmart.  Cool

I mean, look at this LOL. shots fired:

it doesn't come with a private key of a loaded bitcoin address, does it? Roll Eyes Tongue
Frankford should attach a random private key on each chocolate as a gimmick
they don't even need to load bitcoin into addresses, just generate private key sequentially
then let buyers check the balance on the explorer and steal someone's bitcoin Grin

Would be great to see those chocolate bitcoins selling in other popular places like Starbucks where normally there are chocolate coins for kids. I jsut hope they will not create some Etherum or Litcoin or even Bitcoincash chocolates as well  Grin

Sounds funny and maybe not of great interest but that kind of selling propaganda gives 3 good things:

2nd) The kids start to know there is something out there called Bitcoin
3rd) As it is in chocolate, bitcoin will be engraved in the mind of those who try as a sweet and nice thing.  Cheesy

That is very interesting to see because there have been such concepts earlier. In those days we used to call them as gold coins as they were nothing but just the gold foil plated coins and had no prints on them. Now they are not sold since many years or I have not seen any of them since many years due to ever changing trend of the chocolates and new additions to them. Now here comes another coin with similar concept and it is surely going to be the best seller because such things are caught up by people very fast. Kids will grab it surely as well as adults will go the same way too. Nice concept really.

Lol. I thought it was real that walmart is selling bitcoin at $1 only.

It's funny how titles surprise you sometimes. I thought maybe it is some kind of a false news or maybe it is some psycho kind of a move to sell only 1 Bitcoin for $1 which is totally shocking.
Such marketing strategies would probably play a vital role in dragging Bitcoin into mainstream and making people, who don't know it yet, get aware of it. Just imagine how popular it would become if there are everything with a logo of Bitcoin in every corner of the world. They should get exported to different countries in different regions where people would use them and also see a non-annoying advertisement of Bitcoin on those things. Just like every successful brand, of anything, Bitcoin would become widely known because of such things.

I first saw this at Yahoo and was legitimately surprised. Turned out to be clickbait, as expected lol.

But yeah, now that Bitcoin is basically a household name and interest has generally waned, some exposure to the general populace would be nice. I don't think this will help adoption in any significant way, but at least it reminds people that Bitcoin still exists after all the doom forecasts now that it's down to 30% of its ATH.
