I often Merit users who don't post again after their first post. They come here to solve a problem, and after they're done, they don't need the forum anymore. Those aren't the best users for the future of the forum, but they are genuine (Bitcoin) users.
Yeah, this seems pretty common. They probably don't even understand the merit system, but I still think meriting these types of posts might actually encourage new users to stick around. At least, I'm hoping so. Though, I think most of my newbie merits are the types which come ask a question, and then leave indefinitely. I wish somehow I was able to filter the patrol page, to avoid certain sections temporarily so I could look for newbie posts which aren't bounty reports etc. That would likely increase my merit distribution to newbie accounts significantly.

I wish somehow I was able to filter the patrol page, to avoid certain sections temporarily so I could look for newbie posts which aren't bounty reports etc. You can. See my post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5112334.msg49854683#msg49854683For example, this link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;boards=1,74,77,86,6,37,98,100,138,97,231,261,14,40,41,42,76,137,81,4,12;patrol - will show you all recent newbie posts from the boards in the "Bitcoin" section only. You can also use this link to see newbie posts from all boards, but with bounty posts excluded: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol;nobounty

I thought I remembered vaguely doing it before, but I assumed I just ignored a few sections, but didn't bother testing it recently. That'll be perfect for moderation as well as meriting new users. Making sure I make a note this time. I mean, I've literally just used the link, and it has already brought attention a few users spamming. Cheers for the reminder, that'll increase my efficiency ten fold.

Just for my understanding, the last 200th User in the list gave 10 Merits to 10 different Newbies or they can give a total of 10 merits to newbies (even 1 or 2 newbies ) ? If i give 11 merits to the quality posts made by Newbie, i will be in that Top 200 list ?

The number of different newbies is indicated, not the number of merit sent to the newbies. In order to get into the table, you need at least send at least 1 merit to 10-11 different users who do not have a merit. So if i give a merit to a newbie who have already one merit, giving him merit won't be counted to be eligible to be in the part of this list ? He or she should have 0 merits

The forum really gives novices a lot of tolerance. I am a new member of the forum, but I see that many forum members are helping newbies. A lot of knowledge introductions and posts to help newbies. As someone who is new to Bitcoin, it is really lucky to have such a knowledge library.

I have updated the table and chart on the front page of this thread. Since the day the enhanced restrictions and requirements for newbies were introduced on the forum, 4,731 members have supported 18,083 newcomers. I also published statistics for October and September 2021. Ratimov is the leader of this TOP-200 in both months. It looks like he will soon gain first place on the main list.
Both Bitcoin and Bitcointalk can't grow without new users!
These are golden words. I daresay Bitcointalk is the best place to discuss Bitcoin. Smart and intelligent newcomers should always be welcomed into the community.
I sometimes call myself a legend, but I haven't become one officially. Let alone a legendary... This is a feature of Coin-1's statistics; I have also been in Legendary status for a long time. He, apparently, forms statuses not in fact, but according to the number of merits earned. Ratimov is right. Since user activity is a volatile characteristic that may even diminish due to the deletion of posts, I added the following note when creating this thread in September 2018: [1] - the rank that is based on the merit amount regardless of current activity
So if i give a merit to a newbie who have already one merit, giving him merit won't be counted to be eligible to be in the part of this list ? He or she should have 0 merits Yes. You must be the user who will send the newbie his first merit, this will be your help for the newbie. The newbie you want to help must have 0 merit. Ratimov is right again. This algorithm takes in consideration only the first merit received by the newbie. It ignores other merits.

Strange not to see my name on the September list; I made the list for the first time in August and was overjoyed to have assisted two newbies on their way to the top. I know my bag was pretty empty last month, but I believe the main reason is that I rarely see quality newbies on the boards I regularly post (Meta, Reputation, Scam accusations, Gambling discussion, and local); perhaps I'll visit the B & H board more frequently now. @Ratimov, it's nice to see you at the top of the rankings in August and September, with your fellow Russian merits source making their way in as well, expanding your source merits from the Russian board to the rest of the forum. Rati, you're doing a fantastic job. I hope those newbies whom I have helped over the past 2 months will be better than the previous ones, where many were banned for plagiarism and they were part of a large farm.
You simply did what you were meant to do and what was right; what they become after that is their problem, not yours. Don't allow what they become discourage you from doing what you love.

This TOP-200 has been updated as of January 14, 2022. In total, since September 17, 2018, 4812 members have sent at least one merit to 19068 newbies. 2424 ( 8%) of them are banned. I was a little late with the release of two monthly statistics in December 2021, so now I have published three tables all together at the same time. As I can see, the number of supported newbies has decreased from 365 to 269. Ratimov took first place in October 2021, mole0815 is the leader in November and December 2021.
Ratimov is the leader of this TOP-200 in both months. It looks like he will soon gain first place on the main list. There is the smallest gap between first and second place. This gap quickly disappeared within a month, and as I predicted earlier, you are now at the very top of the main list. Congratulations!
I agree with you. Ratimov is not to blame for the actions of newbies who were later banned for plagiarism. He found their quality posts and tried to encourage them to keep contributing to the forum with good intentions, but these newcomers started doing the wrong things. It serves them right.

When I saw a message on my telegram I've been mentioned by you and when I opened it, what I saw is that the users who helped some newbies and I am thankful that being an 8 months old here in the forum I help some newbies to rank up and start contributing here in our community. But sad to say many newbies have been helped getting banned because of forbidden techniques which are plagiarized other works.

My newbie-helping numbers for the last two months are telling: I've gotten a lot more skeptical of new accounts, I think. Either that or I just didn't come across any Newbies who hadn't made it to Jr. Member yet. Oh well, this is one of the statistics threads that I'm not gauging my merit source performance by--but thanks for keeping it updated, OP. I'll try to be easier on the newcomers, though I probably won't see my name in the top 25 for a while. Ratimov is not to blame for the actions of newbies who were later banned for plagiarism. He found their quality posts and tried to encourage them to keep contributing to the forum with good intentions, but these newcomers started doing the wrong things. It serves them right.
He certainly isn't to blame, though I think he should be a bit more picky about who he sends his merits to (and that's just my opinion and isn't intended to bash Ratimov). With so many of these new members getting banned, there's little doubt that at least some of them are repeat offenders trying to start fresh with new accounts. That's one of the reasons why I'm very cautious about meriting noobs.

Thanks for the update. I never knew such a thread exists. I actually expected to see Ratimov as number one and then followed by Ognasty. But the list has Ratimov at second with the difference of 1 newbie help which is still understandable, because he explained why above. But Ognasty is somewhat far from my expectation. Has he stopped that his newbie sign a message and earn merit thread?

Heck Yeah. Nice work! I am here same as like shamm. I was mentioned by you here. And I found myself in 20th position with the support of 3 newbies. I don't remember who was those newbies but I guess they deserved that merit. So, I don't feel proud of sending merits 😁. I just realized that you wrote Sr. Member on side of my name which is not. I am still a Full member due to lacking activities. That would be awesome to be a Sr. member, to be honest. I guess your tool cannot detect Rank yet or it detects rank based on merit count. So, I guess you would find some way to upgrade it more in the future. Good luck 😍
