Read the full article: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/25/google-reverses-ban-on-cryptocurrency-exchange-advertising-in-us-japan.html

Oh, the bad news is, they would only allow regulated/verified exchanges to use their add platform. Meaning - You want to advertise your crypto platform through google? Get your shit verified. I'm sure twitter, facebook, medium soon will follow the same. In the conclusion, fuck decentralisation and let the government regulate everything related to crypto.

I think that's the right thing. People can be harmed by misleading ads. At least the advertisers are the right people. In particular, a unit for those with SCAM in ICOs can be used to prevent advertising.

I also think that such news is good news. All goes to good! Even if Google has banned advertising cryptocurrency for regulatory purposes, then this is better than banning the use of cryptocurrency.

Google is one of the world's biggest companies and its decision is reasonable.
They can't allow ads for irregular exchanges which may affect their reputation when those exchanges appear to be a scam.
There will be no way to prosecute those exchanges and people will start blaming Google for that.
Any respectful company won't accept that.

isn't Google already planning to revoke the ban and will allow crypto currency ads on their website? this news must be updated, or it may be deleted by the moderator

I was shelled by crypto advertisements as regularly as before the boycott, perhaps it is on the grounds that it is too simple to sidestep these bans on promotions and furthermore difficult to control them by google.

From the article:
Quote
Google's original restrictions, which it announced in March and rolled out in June, were intended to protect consumers and included initial coin offerings (ICOs), wallets and trading advice, which are still not allowed.

Why would they not allow wallets to advertise themselves on Google? I can definitely understand a total ban on ICOs, but I don't quite understand the ban on wallets.
Sure, there are probably a number of malicious wallets, but that's the case for any software.

I'm also curious wether they allow other crypto related services to advertise? ICOs, wallets and trading advice aren't the one crypto-related services on offer.

I say that's a good news. Tired of seeing those ICO ads on my browser and even social media feeds. With that rule at least ICO won't be allowed on Google ads. Can't blame them though because ICO's negative effect for the public is as bad as its effect for crypto. If you want to be fully free of regulation then don't use Google, heck don't use the current internet system. Use tor or something like what Namecoin is doing.

why would a wallet want to spend money advertising itself? do you see Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Armory, Multi Bit, GreenAddress, Bitaddress.org, ... advertise on google?!!! that doesn't even make sense.

so advertising a wallet has an incentive in it. they are either some custodial service like coinbase that need advertising (which means they are not a wallet) or they are scammers trying to spread some malware and earn money that way.

There is a FOMO brewing...

One way or another this is a bullish news for the cryptomarket. I remember the day when the adds was banned by the google. Much good news is accumulating at the moment. We are going to see the effects in the near future.

Weird though, as the ads are only pointed to ico's which should have nothing to do with bitcoin.

It is better this way I guess since government offices put a lot of pressure to crypto currencies especially to exchanges. If things are getting fix here then it should be another spark to new good market status later. Hope this will go on and as you have said other social media sites would go along.

how is it a bad news?
have you forgotten what has been advertised on google before they banned it? let me help your memory: lots of scams including ICO scams, shitcoins, scam websites, malware stealing your private keys, shady businesses doing illegal activities,...
if you have a legit business ("crypto platform") you wouldn't mind verifying it properly. it is only scammers who will be screwed.
Good to see that someone wanted to make a conversation. Good or bad is relative. I will go with Joel_Jantsen which is bad of-course. What's wrong with someone to keep their identity undisclosed even they have a very successful exchange (i.e)? I personally sold to Bitcoin because I make my choice here, I do not need someone else to make choice for me.

What we need is education. Once we will have education then before dealing with anyone we will be able to do our own due diligence. Why would I let Google to do it for me. In other words I am giving the authority to a third-party to take care of things for me. What if they fail to do their job correctly or they became GOD?

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

Google is removing, Reddit is the same way. Queue in other social media applications. If good news comes from Facebook and Twitter, the mobilization of the market comes to life.

I think this is good news. This will limit or diminish scam projects. Hope facebook ,twitter will also soon set strict rules to make the crypto community become more transparent and safer for investors.

Good news to the crypto family. The condition given for the advertisement to continue will help every body in the crypto industries. This includes the investors as only credible and viable project will admitted for adverts with google so investors will go for such ICO  which is being  advertised by google. The bounty hunters are also favoured as they will only work credible project that they are sure of getting paid for their efforts

So they are not going to allow scam coin ads? Good.

A really good way to stop shtity ico's from the start of process these are the cause why new investors get fooled an invest and after that leaving them with a depression.

Fb can also benfit of they let those ads run to their site by paying them with a good price.

This is good news, imagine if exchange like yobit pay advertising on google? How many people would lose money? it would be a lot of people and google would be destroying its reputation. There is another point, there are exchanges that are created by anonymous people, exchange that has no license, exchange that does not have physical office... But they move a lot of money. summarize: it would be very risky for google to accept shady exchange

I think this is good news. This will limit or diminish scam projects. Hope facebook ,twitter will also soon set strict rules to make the crypto community become more transparent and safer for investors.

I agree, but I still think governments should regulate cryptos more urgently so that everything is clearer.

Probably Google received an instruction from the authorities above on this issue. It seems that they already tried to do this in the spring, but there was no special effect.

Any famous company does not accept that. I was besieged by frequent cryptanalysis as before the boycott, perhaps it was on the basis that it was too simple to avoid the ban on promotions and further difficult to control them by google. If everything is being repaired here then it will be a new spark for good market condition later on.
