There are no guarantees that the market will ever grow, so it is possible and worth some of the tokens to be withdrawn into real money to get at least something.

Are the token created by a group of people with a great project?
Are this tokens is being supervise by great developer? what are their plan for the future?
can it stand the up and down in the market? will it have a great demand from the people all around the world?
That is the question you need to answer before selling it or holding it for long.

I think it depends a lot what crypto are you holding. I think it would be safe to hold ones with good potential and dump those you are not so sure of. Also I would hold all the major ones like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple etc. But this is purely my own opinion.
