Extremely unlikely as the price fell this year from ICO deleveraging effects.   We should continue that excess supply until end of 2018 I think, even optimistically ETH has run out some of that previous expended demand reversed into supply before it can build up to price accumulation.

Presuming vast changes to the ETH protocol dont occur that alter the situation greatly. They are introducing POS and reducing the block reward but Im not sure thats enough to bring about a 5x higher price

your imagination of "standard" is wrong. otherwise if you stop being caught up in the hype and start looking at the reality that has been going on with the pump and dump altcoin you can see that ETH has been performing well according to pump and dumps. it got pumped from $50 to $1500 and then got dumped from $1500 to $150 which is a lot higher than it should have gone down to.

it is not just past 3 months. the dump has been going on for 9 months
and ETH has been struggling to survive much longer than that, you just didn't notice it because of the pump.

Etherum is not that good that everyone is talking.

ETH is nothing better than stellar, waves, eos, neo, vet, nem and they all do the same (daps and smart contracts) and dozens more. I even think that we have manny better ones. Perhaps in next bull run we will have another daps/sc coin on nr 2 in marketcap and eth will be where waves is (f.e). Thats why hodling is one of the riskiest strategies in crypto market.

Eth is important for ivestors 2016 - 2018 - we know it to be top 3 all the time and its hard for us to bealive that it can be dumped realy low. But 2019 investors during next bull run will see other coin where ETH is now and will think about that coin as we think about ETH.

Just like 2013 investors thought about Namecoin, Peercoin, Feathercoin and manny more.

It may recover but its not certain. Perhaps it will recover to its current USD/ETH price but BTC will give much better ROI what means ETH/BTC will continue to drop. In short term its oversold in my opinion and 30% bounce is economicaly needed but full recovery might be hard.

ETH is just unfinished ALT with lots of bugs that makes its users loose milions due to these bugs.

Just wait and see whether it would or not. Ethereum still remains the most used smart contract platform and even though things are changing with lots of competition popping up, that does not mean ethereum have lost its value entirely or the investors have backed up on it totally.

It is just market, things like this happen and that is what we say when we talk about volatility and by now everyone should have understood that the fact that Ethereum got this way far down,  does not mean it still cannot recover in the long run. No one knows the future, so however it is, present value does not determine the future market.

ICOs are dead.Besides the ICO token environment,ethereum can't provide anything valuable to the crypto world.It's turning into a useless altcoin.I used to like the ethereum consept,but now,ETH looks too "centralized" and with too many flaws to me.

Currently they slide to number 3 spot overtaken by EOS again. So it means that investors are shifting their funds now to EOS. And with the continue dumping of projects, I have doubts that ETH will go to another all-time-high. Might be years again to see it regain its dominance as the top coins since a lot of altcoins are already moving up and giving ETH a battle for the top spot.

Ethereum is not that perfect coin everyone was talking about. But eos doesn't have even a working product yet, they are no competitors to ethereum for now

I think Ethereum has a great future lying ahead because Ethereum is second cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.Ethereum is doing very well in the market and its demand is also increasing day by day.Although the prices of all the cryptocurrencies are down but still people are like Ethereum because it has a good profit margin.It has the capability and potential to give competition to Bitcoin later in the future.People are also investing in Ethereum by seeing the profit rates.

Ethereum is not going to reach $1000 by end of 2018 because we are no where near that value and we only have three months left in this year and already Ripple is taking over the place of ethereum in the marketcap value but hopefully ETH will regain its position soon so at that time we may see some quick bump in the prices.

I'm not too sure that the ETH price will reach $ 1k at the end of the year, until now the ETH price still follows the BTC price. if the BTC price is able to reach $ 13k by the end of the year, maybe the ETH price can reach $ 1k by the end of the year.

All those prediction are shittalk. Pump on ETH may happend any time. Just like on Ripple. From .27 to .69 in 1 week (+150%). Same thing on ETH and we have 600$ in 1 week. And noone said this is the end. This might be first wave out of two or three. Next wave may push Ripple to 1.50$ (1000$ for ETH doing the same). In 1 month.

I chose Ripple because it has similar marketcap. So its price moves as hard as etherum price.

Yes, it is the leader of ICO platforms both legit and scam ones. And that's why it has been hardly dumped because of those ICO creators that dumped their ETH and just took the profit out of it. And then can you consider EOS mainnet as the product from the block.one? Remember a lot of people in the EOS team has been leaving the team and try to create such a new competitor to the EOS.
