Most times, if I am not fortunate to notice a coin when it was low and invest into it, I will never rush to invest while it is pumping, because there is every tendency for those  who bought low to dump on it. So avoid being caught in fomo.

Yeah this is quite common especially in sudden plunges though when you say veterans, these are people who've probably been in the same situation several times before. So they're less likely to fall victim to panic. But it still happens at times.

I'm pretty sure not only newbies to this but also people who just are really in need for the money locked up in their crypto bags. There is nothing wrong in minimizing the losses when investing.

I don't see any reason why one should watch their 10k investment come crumbling down to 2k and lower. It is wiser to sell let's say at 5k and later buy back in when the price finds a solid floor.
