I think 2017 was the best Year for Crypto

That's true it was a good year for 2017 in crypto and I'm disappointed because I'm late to experience a good earnings that year. So this time is not good time for crypto because of a long bearish market and hopefully it will done soon.

My portfolio was ATH at 1st week to 2nd week of January 2018. December 2017 to January 2018 was a good run as lots of newbies FOMO'ed into crypto.
Smart money began moving out on those dates as well.

I think the 2nd wave of millionaires were made this recent bubble. The first wave was made when btc hit $2,000.

2017 is the year when crypto experienced a very high increase, but it crossed my mind whether it was just a strategy so that crypto was more popular so investors would increase or indeed crypto grew so fast that its value rose I didn't know for sure. but indeed 2017 is a very good year.

Well, that is always the thing, every market will always come with its own opportunities, 2017 was a bullish year all through and that gave room for a lot of old investors who had been holding through thick and thins to make profit and then probably some people who joined FOMO as they really do not have much experience with the market probably getting over bought ended up picking at the top, but all hope is not lost as long as you understand that in the long term, the market still have huge growth lurking.

One thing with the market right now is that it is another opportunity, so for me personally, any trend that the market brings is always the best as I see this period as the period of accumulation and once you know this is a market that is still young and will grow hugely in the long run, you will know better it is a great year as well for a good discount on some good projects.

The problem is that when markets rise on Hype and FOMO with nothing real to support the lofty valuations you get a backlash when the momentum runs out that leads precisely to where we are now with an oversold market. My hope is that when this market does recover it does it gradually and sustainably based on development and use of DLT and not just based on speculation.

Yes you are right that the year 2017 was the best year for crypto as there were not regulations in place. Reports of regulations have brought cryptocurrency down as people are not sure their investment in crypto is safe or not. Likewise, reports of crypto scams are also in part to blame. Now again the year like 2017 would come for crypto as many are positive about this new invention. 

I would better say some other things - 2017 was the best year for the people, who invested much money in the cryptocurrencies earlier. They really earned a lot. Hope, the same situation will repeat soon (in December???)

We can not be sure of that. Although Bitcoin's prices have risen sharply and many people have become wealthy, many now bankrupt. In my opinion, that certainly is not the best time. The best time is when its price is its true value and it will be stable in the long run.

Well, it wasn't just those months, the entire 2017 was great.
In fact, I would say that the months before the end of the year were great because the growth was more stable and sustainable.
Yes, it was going up and down like it usually does, but the overall it was steady and strong.

Then, the huge price spike was, of course terrific.  But there was no way that could go on and here we are almost a year later with a dead market.
It would great if we all cashed out during then, but most people just kept on trading and buying into icos without cashing out.

Me, I ended up cashing out just enough to make back what I had put into it, so at least I am even.
But I should have sold it all and then bought back in now, that would have been the smartest move.

As far as if that is the all time high, I don't think so, crypto has even more room to grow and I believe we will start seeing progress soon.

The fact that more people come to the world of crypto is the highest springboard, and even though part of this year was not successful for everyone, but 2019 will come, which will put everything in its place.

IMO, the best is yet to come. The user-base is constantly increasing on a month-to-month basis, irrespective of all the uncertainties. The peak valuation may be achieved sometime during the 2020s, if I am not wrong.

Yes, the year 2017 was really a good year for bitcoin and Investors... The bull run gave birth to a lot of publicity for bitcoin and many more new investors. I think this is why the 2018 has been really slow and steady.. A correction.

I agree with your last sentence. Thinking that we will never see something like that again is pointless. Even now there are many very good coins on the market costing much less than their potential. I bet some traders become millionaires in these very days, but more of them will become ones in the near future. Actually this huge drop in price of all crytpocurrencies during this year provided opportunities for the newcomers to make some good profits. If all the prices were at the level of December 2017 right now, it would be hard to say how much time it will take for the prices to rise significantly. Well, with today's level it's not that hard. I mean it could take years, but now we are talking months. Of course no one can tell how much it will take exactly, and I may be wrong in my assertions too, but I think there is a huge probability of nearing to their previous ATH for all established cryptos in the upcoming months.
