It's amazing to me that TECSHARE was actually on DT at one point.  I've said before that the evidence shows that he's an honest businessman, and I would trust him as a trading partner (not that that's ever going to happen), but he's obviously in raving-lunatic-mode about this situation.  I get the feeling that he's not the type of person who'll let things go until he gets the last word, but he really should just drop this.  Apologizing to Flying Hellfish wouldn't be a bad idea either if he could deflate his ego enough to do so.  Doubt that's going to happen, but it would be the right thing to do.

I don't know about that.  I think the fact that he's demonstrated that he can be trusted with money says a lot and should contribute to the "respect factor" fairly heavily.  Having said that, I don't have a high opinion of him as a forum personality.  I've flown off the handle at members before, but usually I can rein myself back in and I know when to stop, and if I think I've gone too far I will and have offered apologies.  TECSHARE does not know how to de-escalate disagreements or know when to stop. 

As far as the merit is concerned, I think part of that is a function of how active he's been.  For all my distaste for him as a bitcointalk member, he is intelligent and his posts are well-constructed (from the ones I've read, but those have mainly been the ones where he's in full Human Torch mode).  If I'm not mistaken, there have been periods of time where he's been relatively inactive, and it's obviously difficult to earn merits when you're not posting.  He's been a member since 2011 and has "only" 5724 posts.

Give me a list of the top 20 merit awarded persons on this board.

I will believe I will demonstrate clearly that they have done NOTHIING  of  major note on this board in terms of making a big difference in this arena compared to many that have picked up little to no merit. To the point that if they had never been members nothing of note would really be any different here in the slightest.



This is not a mud slinging competition, just a pure analysis to demonstrate most merit is handed out in meta between a tight little group that mostly stick together back slapping each other over having similar points of view or creating some various ways of analysing board mertrics.  This is a pointless waste of merit which should be used to help level up lower rank users who deserve it. This is my suspicion anyway. I could be wrong.


I would praise and value far more highly those that were FIRST to highlight huge scams and spend a lot of time battling with hordes of scammers trying to make these projects seem legitimate and changed the attitudes of 1000's of investors. Or people here who have made huge technical advances in this arena and work hard for the advances in decentralised and trustless projects. Or people that have helped others make vast amounts of money by sharing information non selfishly that they have attained by hours of study and experience trading.

Again this is not a matter of opinion this is a matter of being able to demonstrate the users that have historically made the biggest differences in a positive way are not major merit holders. Therefore there is no direct correlation between merit and respect at all. There is of course different ways to evaluate this.

There is a small clique of users backslapping each other to the point of abusing what the merit system is for to create a faux authority here far from the most notable in this arena.

The politics section is where the most bitter feuds are formed over ideas and concepts.
