Good strategy. It looks like you invested what you can afford to lose so just continue to hold and don't make a sell-off. I usually don't give financial advises, but if you are here for the long haul, then I would go with Bitcoin. It hard to put your money in ICO because of scam and majority for alts has also suffered. Only bitcoin is the best option for now specially if we're going to see another massive bull run in the next coming months or years.

If I am correct than it seems you can HODL for long term. This is a good sign.

In this case, I am actually considering the OP to be a long term holder and looking for good investments to keep storing value in the long term. Bitcoin to me is always an easy buy for the long term as it controls the market generally and when it comes to huge long term growth, I am pretty sure we have not even seen anything yet, so I will be putting a larger percentage in that.

However, there are still some altcoins with great potentials as well, but in this case, you will have to take your time to do your research on the team, the availability of a product, how this product will solve problems in the long run, and the business solutions, and then look at those with the hugely undervalued ones to invest in as well as some other altcoins that have been in the market for a long time which you still consider they have long term potentials.

Well, considering that you already have a huge percentage of it in fiat for emergencies, it is a good thing you already know how to manage your funds well with the risks. If I have $1000 to be putting into the space every month, I will always put at least 50% of it in bitcoin for the long term, then look at the top 100 coins and choose about 10 to 20 of them with great potentials for growth in the long term as well as usage, and in that case, due diligence is something you will have to do, and then you can put in about 30% in them.

For the remaining 20% I will look for new tokens or coins in the block with great potentials that have been oversold and trading below ICO price, then I will load few of them I can handle at once up. I always consider these ones an easy market, even though risky, so to manage the risk, you want to also make sure you have done your due diligence on them as well.

The strategy that I would use if I were in your shoes is that I will save that money and I will wait until the market crashed and gave me the opportunity to buy coins for a very low price, as you may guess if I had that kind of money I will choose this very moment to invest in the market, probably I will choose to invest in ethereum because for what I can see it is the coin that has crashed the most among the top coins.

Well I would like to invest 500$ in some off line business, I will save 200$ in cash and would like to invest 300$ to buy BTC or BCH. By looking at the condition of your investment this is the best possible solution that I have for myself (if it is me).
There are chances that market will recover one day and you will recover your loss but it does not mean that you invest more and what if it does not recover early then your loss will be more.

The normal thing that most people here do is Hodling. Well, it’s good to hold but don’t hodl coins that are useless, especially ones that you’re not sure if they are going to appreciate anytime soon. If you’re going to hodl then its best to go for the ones that you’re of which are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero (to mention a few). You can hodl them till they start to appreciate.

Then if you are good in technical charting or analysis, like some would say, then day trading would be a good option. There are many ways you can still earn money despite tee market is going down, just search it on google and the answers are just there waiting for you.

I will use $1000 each month to invest in many coins. From $1000, I will divide into 3-5 coins and hold because that is what we can do in waiting for the market rising again. But I don't use for investing only, and I will use some of the money to trade because I see we have a good chance to buy and sell if we can choose the right coin. While we invest and hold the coin, we can check and analyze every coin in the wallet and see the price, if the price can get a pump or increase double than the last price we bought, then we could sell some amount to take the money back. But this is only if you have skill in trading, don't do this if you only want to invest and hold the coins.

If you still have the $1000 dollars in crypto then I will advise you to leave it there. Analysts has claimed this year to be the the year for bull run, around second half of the year there is likely to be a bull. So hold the $1000 and wait for the bull instead of selling it. There are still other things you can do with $1000 apart from cryptocurrency.

Yes, so if OP has $1000 each month to enter in crypto currency, i would suggest him to buy different coin each month with 1000$ and hold them for long term. While choosing the coins, you can select from from 10 or 15 coins as these the coins which have more volume and are listed on good exchanges.

Instead of relying on cryptocurrency alone, I think you should also engage in other investments such as real estate and stocks. Cryptocurrency is good, but at times it disappoints you, so you need something else to also rely on. You can invest $5000 in real estate (uuhm that would be a shared property) and also invest in stocks, the rest can be going into cryptocurrency.

This way you wouldn’t have to put all your hopes in crypto and be overly concerned when the price drops. It can help you have patience too as you also have other means of getting profit.

It is better you invest the $1000 into those strong coins that have do very well but now are down.  If you seriously want to makes money you need to take serious risk as without risk it is very difficult to make it in life.

It is better you invest the $1000 into those strong coins that have do very well but now are down.  If you seriously want to makes money you need to take serious risk as without risk it is very difficult to make it in life.

I think it will be a great idea if you can choose bitcoin as the main investment from now on until you can reach 1 btc and then moves to the other coins. Or you can stick with bitcoin only and don't use altcoin for the investment. But if you want to make 50:50 for bitcoin and altcoin in different altcoin for every month, then you should analyze the altcoin because there are too many coins in the market that you can choose. I would be suggesting that you diversify your investments by considering other investing methods present (bank notes, stocks, cryptocurrencies). By this way, you may be able to minimize your chances of loss by the end of the investment period. Another thing, index stock funds are an alternative if you are relatively new to stocks since it follows blue-chip companies price. Categorize each of your investment whether for short or long-term.

Ethereum is an utility with no limitation in the maximum amount of coins. I have invested 80% of my free funds around 12.000$ about two years ago, I made 10x since then, i have reinvested over 50% of my profits on other projects.

I had a strategy to invest around 80% of my investment funds in projects with strong positions on coinmarketcap / top 100. And 20% would like to take a greater risk and invest in fresh new coming projects that might be in the last positions on cmc, because by the time I was investing in top projects nothing would happen and I was regularly seeing how some new projects pop up out of nowhere and get on top 100/200 position with tremendous price rise, so I decided to make a little bit research on a low cap projects with active team / community / development and small circulating supply, which would give great profits just by adding on several exchanges.

Or even if nothing bad happens to the coin itself, a new project might contest them and do the same things in a better way, resulting in people living the "old and trusted coin" for the newer and arguably better one.
If you invest in middle-valued coins, the chances of going up or down will be about the same but you stand to win more on the way up.

For example Ethereum is already very high, I don't expect it to go 10x times up.

Simplicity when it comes to your investment strategy is fine but that is not what people are looking for, they want profits and if that means adding a little bit of complexity to their strategy then they are willing to do it, that is why there are so many altcoins around because the majority is looking to multiply their bitcoin holdings and that is not possible if you are just holding your bitcoin, for example if you buy one bitcoin at 4000 and it skyrockets to 20000 you still have only one bitcoin but if you invest in altcoins that outperform bitcoin you can multiply no only your bitcoin holdings but your fiat profits as well.

Those coins that you have chosen were quite good but why is it that you are giving a very small portion for bitcoin? it's the second to the lowest that you have considered of investing. I'd put the highest portion for bitcoin instead of ETH and BNB. I also like ETH and BNB but it's best for me if I'll put higher amount with BTC. At the present time, when bitcoin value is just under 5000$, there is surely no risk in investing in it. The bear market seems to be over and now the bull market might start in few months from now. Try to invest in your knowledge and soft skills at first, because new trading strategies may bring bigger financial success in future. I don’t think you should be allowing your investment to drop that much, unless you are doing a long term hodl that is supposed to take years . You should have always have a target limit that you’re not going to let your money drop to, once it reaches that level you should withdraw it immediately. I can’t let myself lose more than fifty percentage of what I invested.As for the $1000 you have now , I think the best thing you can do with it is day trading, and that’s if you know how to do day trading .

Bitcoin is always the best option for investing but you need to wait for it because sometime the price of Bitcoin will suddenly drop in the market. I think day trading and GPU mining are the safest bets, though they are still bets...

Day trading will teach you skills you can keep with you and apply to any financial investment and even if GPU mining goes straight to 0 at least you still have the hardware. In a worst case scenario you're stuck with hundreds/gpus of GPUs and over wired warehouse at least you'll be able to either sell the GPUs or lease out your GPU power for deep learning/ai.

I could not agree more. Much more traders and investors have all their faith in bitcoin than in other altcoins. It's not bad to invest in legitamate altcoin project but I think there is a much longer wait because people is pushing bitcoin first to pump harder than in 2017. Altcoins are still weak and still don't see them recovering from half of their highest value.

Altcoins only rise because bitcoin is pushing them up. If you see bitcoin is falling, expect to see the entire market falling as well. If you invest in btc or main altcoins it doesn't make much difference, as they move up or down together. But it's important to say bitcoin is the true north of crypto space compass.
With 1000 dollars monthly, it's possible to make a smart investment involving bitcoin and eth, ltc, xrp, bch, maybe nem (50% btc, 50% altcoins). In my opinion we shouldn't only buy crypto to hodl, but also invest the crypto currency in something else, like lending business.

Here's a fact. OP's 1k back in November would have been in the worst month for years (sub 4000). If he had held on, it would be over 2.3k today. Almost break even.

Buying coins that are in the top 20 is a good option but even those coins that have the highest market caps can move in a very abrupt way and if you do not really know anything about trading then you will lose your money, many think they can avoid this if they become long term holders but it is not as easy, long term holders need to endure years of losses and as we have seen during the recent past most investors that think they can handle it were mistaken and sold their coins at the worst possible time.

They sold at the lowest pion in the market thinking the market will never recover only to be proven to be wrong during the last months in which the recovery of the market has taken place.
