Recently I started to be more active on Bitcoin Discussion subforum and became totally disappointed. A lot of noise over there low quality redundant topics pop-up every minute and bury each other under a pile of garbage. Isn't it mods job to take care of this issue?

It is there job to do it but mods are limited in numbers and theymos doesn’t want to add any more mods. The newbies are also a me to be deleted by patrollers but I think bounty spam is a much bigger issue to them because thrrrs so much of it.

Unfortunately, there are more spammer/spam post than moderators could handle. The only thing you could do is by self-moderate your thread and remove all spam/FUD. There's solution such as disable signature on "Bitcoin Discussion" or ban all Signature Bounty, but we know that won't happen.
That's why most member don't visit that boards or only participate on/make self-moderated thread.

In addition to self moderating your threads, you can also report any post, or reply you deem low in quality or unfit for the board in which it is in. This would make the work of moderators relatively easier and you could also earn a badge when/if Theymos decides on that. Moderators are doing a lot to keep the forum free of spam as can be seen in Modlog And they deserve due credit for it. And we should also try not to add to the clog by starting threads which has been exhaustively discussed already on the forum.

The mods actually need to be commended to a certain extent,at least for not letting those spammers take absolute control of those sections.. Low quality content is a real issue on the forum, and a lot of measures to reduce it to its tiniest bit has been proposed over a thousand times on the forum, but the last call is definitely theymos's So for now we'll stick with the features we have such as "reporting to the moderator" when we come across piles and piles of shit

Bitcoin discussion is like posting in the satoshi one on one tuition forum compared to alt discussion. You could try serious discussion but really that does not seem to have taken off yet. I think junior forums are the only answer with merit/rank requirement to continue on main boards. noob jail with decentralised appraisal of juniors to be elavated ... a postive way to spend a few hours rather than the negativity of reporting. Although with continued bear market a lot will drop away over time leaving only the real enthusiasts and long term supporters.

IMO, recently spamming has decreased quite a bit on the Bitcoin discussion board, it was way worse. Yeah, now with the price drop, a lot of low-quality price topics are popping up. For the time being the best solution is just reporting these threads and mods do trash them.

Bitcoin discussion and Altcoin discussion are very similar in content. Threads with 300+ replies that are impossible to keep track of with very little quality content whatsoever.

If it is low quality and not adding anything new or relevant to the discussion then it would likely be thrashed if it's a thread and deleted if it's a reply. Unfortunately as much as we wish they can not trash all threads and posts which should be. That's why the entire community needs to out hands together to maintain the quality on the forum.

This has been discussed at length before. I would encourage you to use the search function before opening a new thread.
In summary - you are right. Bitcoin Discussion should be the main board of this forum, but it is overrun with bounty spammers. There are far too many users who are not reading a single comment before posting, instead just churning out their one line shitpost to meet their bounty requirement before moving on to the next thread. There are far too many spam threads 10+ pages long with absolutely zero discussion happening, just flooded with these meaningless shitposts. Every time one of these threads is locked, two more are bumped to take its place.
This won't stop until theymos makes a change. We either need the merit requirement for signatures to be increased to 10, dedicated sub-board moderators, or ideally, both. In the meantime, I would encourage you to join me in reporting all these shitposts for deletion and reporting the offending threads to be locked.

Exactly , it's been discussed endlessly , one topic every month: Have we left "Bitcoin Discussion" board for spammers, forever?? If this contiunes, we'll lose the Bitcoin Discussion topicThe bottom line of all the topics is that until theymos finally appoints a member all we can do is report, report and report, from spam posts and topics that don't belong there to each megathread that needs to be locked since it is infested.

No. It should be the signature campaign managers who are paying people to make the same old crap day after day. That sub board should have more moderators, but nothing will change as long as people are being paid to make the spam. It's like hiring more staff to bucket water out of a sinking ship. The problem needs to be tackled at the source and the holes patched up, and those holes are badly run campaigns. You'd need a couple of full time moderators to be truly efficient to tackle the spam, but it's the campaign managers who should be held responsible for this as it's their job that they just aren't doing properly.

It's easy to point to low quality posts, but what would be more constructive is if we made an effort to elevate these topics by providing high quality replies. I'm convinced that when topics consist primarily of nothing more than generic one or two liner replies, it effectively serves as an invitation for lazy posters to just "add to the pile". But once a legitimate discussion breaks out, any further low quality posts tend to stand out more and will be easier to report and weed out. It stands to reason that the more topics we can salvage, the healhier that board will start to look.
Improve the threads, don't just complain about them.
That said, many topics do need locking much sooner, before they can reach the state some of them are in. Some of them are just too far gone to be saved.

I went through the first couple of pages to look for posts to merit, and I managed to find a couple, but most of it was of little interest to me, so I got bored and quit. Maybe we need a bondage board for chained coins.

You've pretty much nailed it. I spend a decent amount of time going through threads, requesting their locked and reporting anything within an estimated "payment period". I'm sure I'm just a drop in the bucket for what is reported but I've seen results. Most of these threads loose all semblance of a discussion by page 4, and it becomes a constant flow of spammers replying to the Title/OP. The problem doesn't stop with just the Sig spammers, unfortunately most members learn by example here. When they see this behavior they will mimic it and not see the problem, well before they wear or can wear a Sig. Depending on the thread I have seen a decent amount of members who do engage in a good bout of discussion, generally the same users each time. Unfortunately though they can get drown out/disrupted by the flow of Spammy shitposts. Report on

No. It should be the signature campaign managers who are paying people to make the same old crap day after day.
What can people even do about it, other than the admins? Give negative trust? Yeah right, like that would do anything. That sub board should have more moderators, but nothing will change as long as people are being paid to make the spam. It's like hiring more staff to bucket water out of a sinking ship. The problem needs to be tackled at the source and the holes patched up, and those holes are badly run campaigns. Hiring volunteers for moderation might make things better? There are so many ways to help out the forum, but there's 0 motivation for anybody to do it. People could start by reporting, or creating self mod threads etc etc, and they could contribute in the tiniest of ways, but they know its useless, so nothing will ever happen. This forum reminds of PUBG, people play it, but are also bored of it, because its the same thing over and over again. theymos needs to do something like #FIX Bitcointalk campaign(not a signature campaign,4head!).

Or some of us just move threads to serious discussion when we think it's going to have too much spam on it... If you make a self modded topic then it can still bet buried under other spam on the board.

Maybe we need a bondage board for chained coins. Indeed to eradicate spamming is the reason the merit system was introduced in the first place but to my greatest surprise the rate of spamming is still at alarming rate, and that is making the work of merit sources very hard to find constructive and helpful posts to merit on because their are always berried by insubstantial post's.
