Right now it doesn't matter which cryptocurrency can perform better than Bitcoin regarding TPS or whatever. Bitcoin is the most recognized crypto and if it fails, all the the others have no chance to survive. I know that Bitcoin can't fail completely and that sooner or later it will be adopted by most people, like laptops and smartphones, but this adoption can be postponed for 5 years or even longer, and this is what I mean by "fail". Also, I think you know that Lightning Network promises to enable millions of transactions per second for Bitcoin, and if not the LN, then, I'm sure, another solution for this problem will be found, because there is a great team behind BTC, so ...
