I would say now might be the time to buy some altcoins, tho I would leave lisk and waves alone. 

These two were once the hottest in the market as they are the early coins people invested, but although they still have the volume but their development seems to have slowed down.

Eth is a good choice, as I don't think it's going to go down any further.  The whole market got slaughtered in 2018, so there are a lot of bargains to be had.

If the altcoins will rally for sure ETH will be the one to lead in the market, so no doubt its a good choice for investors and its currently undervalued now.

Altcoins got termed as an alternate, and here ethereum seems to be the leader. The growth of rest of the altcoins always have dependence over the growth of ethereum. When it comes to ethereum it depends over the growth of bitcoin. Though it has got its own platform the dependence over bitcoin still exists.

Funny to see this written a year ago, and it makes me wonder if Op bought and held onto those coins.  If he did, I think he's probably lost money on his investment.  He had the right idea, buying altcoins while the prices have sunk...the only problem is that when he wrote his post, altcoins just kept sinking.  

I would say now might be the time to buy some altcoins, tho I would leave lisk and waves alone.  Eth is a good choice, as I don't think it's going to go down any further.  The whole market got slaughtered in 2018, so there are a lot of bargains to be had.

And that is the problem of buying the dip, at first it may seem like a good idea since you are buying an asset that is undervalued, the issue is that we never really know how far the price of an asset will go and you could buy too early, that should not be a problem if you have in your mind to hold those coins for a very long time in which case you only need to worry about whether or not the asset that you are buying is good, and if it is, you know that you'll get profits but very few have the patience of pulling a strategy like that.

I agree with that but the competition is tight, unlike bitcoin vs altcoins where bitcoin clearly dominated.

Those scam projects exist for the exact reason you mentioned and unfortunately, there is another choice for the crypto community except the educating the newcomers. There is no right or wrong time for making investment decisions but having decent skills for controlling risky trades without emotions has always helped the crypto investors to maintain their profits in both bull-bear markets. 

There are many scam projects around, but mostly those are new projects. I think newcomers should stick with old and proven coins, the ones that exist for years, that have strong communities, strong and active times that work on development.
Many people are driven by the profit, new projects promise fast ROI and huge profits, people fall on that trap and they get scammed, we cant help them, some of them needs to make a mistake and only then to learn more about crypto.

XRP may have been in the second position for some time but that did not last, the only ones that have been able to take advantage of the movements of XRP are short term traders for everyone else it has been impossible to obtain long term profits with it because XRP is unable to outperform bitcoin for long enough, but if you compare ETH and its performance against bitcoin you will see many periods in which ethereum gave great profits so between the two the choice should be easy you should pick ethereum.

You need to always be very skeptical about what you read, I say this because most of the time those that are making the news are not impartial about it, they have a goal and in many cases their goals run contrary to your own goals.

So it is important that instead of relying on the news that you read on the Internet you use technical analysis to try to tell what the price is going to do during the next days or weeks that way you don't have to rely on anyone to be able to tell what the market will do.

In my opinion, it is indeed the right time to buy altcoins for investment. It can be seen that almost all altcoins are priced
down quite deep now. So if buying now is very good to do, moreover a lot of good news to say alt season will occur in 2020.

Your statement seems true. However the % risk is the same, regardless of the amount of money you invest.
The work needed to examine in detail all the details for a project is the same, regardless of the amount of money you invest.

So if you invest in BTC, you can easily earn some 5-10 % return in a month (after some day trading)
But if you invest same amount of $ in small alts, you will have to wait for years, hoping that their project succeeds.

So 5-10% in a month or uncertain % in uncertain number of years?

You are right, we have seen for the last year the prices of altcoin are completely in a down trend and now it is the right choice to grab potential coins. Yes, we have seen many cycles from the past 6 months, which we have a complete downturn and this makes us grab as many coins as possible.

You are right, we have seen for the last year the prices of altcoin are completely in a down trend and now it is the right choice to grab potential coins. Yes, we have seen many cycles from the past 6 months, which we have a complete downturn and this makes us grab as many coins as possible.

Actually, the best thing to do is accumulate coins with funds from your disposal income. And then when an OBVIOUS trend reversal looks imminent, you can then buy with your intended capital. No one can really time the market so you do dollar cost averaging.
